The Web3 gaming sector and the overall crypto market continue to face turbulence, shedding another 8%, but projects do not stop delivering as My Pet Hooligan unveils its upcoming release on Xbox.
Bitcoin had a mini relief rally following positive U.S. inflation data but then dropped again as U.S. trade war fears intensified. Yawn.

The GameFi market cap dropped from $11.98 billion to $11.03 billion over the last seven days as Trump keeps rugging the global markets.

The yearly downtrend continued. We kept buying the dip but it kept on dipping. Welp!

The chart of the top GameFi tokens looks like a toddler having a scribble with red crayon. Nothing exciting other than some possible hopium towards the end of the last seven days.
While all were down, according to DeFiLlama’s Narrative Tracker, GameFi was ranked eighth, much better than last week, and it outperformed Ethereum, Solana, NFTs and memes.
The top 20 gaming tokens’ warm-up party did not last long. Keep on clicking! SuperVerse took a huge L last week, shedding 25% of its price.

My Pet Hooligan on Xbox

AMGI Studios has revealed its 2025 roadmap for My Pet Hooligan (MPH), confirming its upcoming release on Xbox, with players already able to wishlist the game. The roadmap outlines major updates, including a shift from free-to-play to a pay-to-play model in March 2025.
The game will transition from early access to an alpha phase between May and August 2025, with a beta expected in 2026. Key features launching in April include a console program, a redesigned website, a user account system, and an early in-game marketplace.

Tilting Point Unveils $150 Million Fund

Tilting Point has announced a $150 million user acquisition (UA) fund to help mobile game developers scale their titles while retaining full ownership. This is the company’s third major UA fund, following similar initiatives in 2016 and 2018.
The fund provides non-dilutive financing, meaning developers don’t have to give up equity. It aims to support developers in overcoming challenges posed by Apple’s privacy changes, which have impacted targeted advertising. The first beneficiaries are Mythical Games and Begin, with more partners expected.

Off The Grid’s Black Market

Off The Grid is experiencing a booming underground market for in-game skins and tokens ahead of its official on-chain trading launch. Players are using Discord and private channels to buy and sell rare skins and GUN tokens for real money, despite such transactions being prohibited under the game’s terms of service.
The black market has emerged due to the game’s current restriction on on-chain trading, with some collectors spending thousands to acquire rare items before the launch of the GUNZ L1 mainnet. Some high-value traders, like “Money Magician” and “torToro,” are holding onto their extensive NFT collections, expecting their value to rise once official trading becomes available.
Gunzilla Games plans to introduce item rarity verification and official releases for some previously exclusive gear. With the mainnet launch still expected in Q1 2025, the game’s black market continues to thrive as players seek early access to valuable digital assets.

M10 Raises $3 Million

M10 has secured $3 million in a seed funding round led by the Sui Foundation, with backing from GSR, Big Brain Holdings, and other investors. The funding will support the development of M10’s debut competitive multiplayer title.
Founded by industry veterans, including CEO Maitham Mohamed (Forbes 30 Under 30) and former Ubisoft game director Martin Capel, M10 seeks to address aggressive monetization in F2P games.

This has caused a healthy retrace in all prices, which potentially gives us a second go at quality projects that we believe will eventually break out and gain mainstream traction. Therefore, if you believe in crypto gaming, stay the course, get stuck in the trenches, and do the work. But before you invest, of course:

  • Focus on quality over hype: look out for games that people play for fun rather than just for earning.
  • Check for real utility and in-game integration: projects where tokens and NFTs have multiple use cases within the game such as staking, upgrades, and crafting, tend to be more sustainable.
  • Evaluate team experience and transparency: teams with a proven track record in gaming or blockchain are more likely to deliver.
  • Assess community activity and growth: high player retention and active communities (Discord, Twitter, Reddit) show that a game can attract and keep players.
