Joint pain supplements are being recalled because they contain two undeclared drugs that could cause serious or fatal side effects, including heart attack, stroke, serious or fatal gut damage, and psychiatric events.

GNMart Inc., based in Dover Plains, New York, is recalling all lots of its Force Forever joint pain supplements, sold in 60-tablet white plastic bottles with red caps, it was announced on Monday.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered undeclared diclofenac and dexamethasone in the product.

The FDA previously warned, on November 22, that consumers should not purchase or use Force Forever, which was sold nationwide on several different websites and possibly in some retail stores.

Newsweek has approached GNMart for comment via email.

Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, internal bleeding, stomach ulcers, and the fatal perforation of the stomach or intestines.

NSAIDs are particularly dangerous when taken with other NSAID-containing products, which consumers may have unknowingly done if they took these supplements alongside anti-inflammatory medications.

Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid, which means it suppresses the immune system. Because inflammation is an immune response, it is commonly used to treat inflammatory conditions.

However, this means that people taking dexamethasone might be more prone to getting ill from infections and viruses in their environment and may struggle to fight off those illnesses.

Corticosteroids can also cause high blood sugar levels, muscle injuries and psychiatric problems.

When taken for a significant period of time or at high doses, they can suppress the adrenal gland, which is responsible for producing hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol.

Adrenal suppression can lead to fatigue, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain, followed by drowsiness, coma and even death, if untreated.

If an individual stops taking corticosteroid drugs abruptly, they can experience withdrawal symptoms.

The FDA advises that people taking Force Forever should immediately consult with a healthcare professional to safely stop using the tablets and avoid withdrawal effects, as well as to evaluate their health after taking these drugs.

GNMart customers can contact the company at info@gnmart.com to ask questions and arrange to return the product for a refund.

The recall affects all Force Forever supplements sold at gnmart.com up to the expiration date of March 27, 2030.

No adverse events have been reported to GNMart in relation to Force Forever supplements. Any adverse events or side effects that happen because of this product should be reported to the FDA via their MedWatch form.

The FDA has also warned that consumers should be careful purchasing dietary supplements promoted for sexual enhancement, weight loss, and body building, as these are not all tested by the FDA and may contain harmful hidden ingredients.

Another recall was called on Friday, December 13, over supplements found to contain yellow oleander, a poisonous plant that is the subject of an FDA safety alert involving more than 20 products.
