ZenCortex Drop

Just when you thought the matcha madness on Instagram had peaked, we have a fresh crop of matcha-infused Indian classics that no one asked for, not even the Japanese. From biryani to rasmalai to lassi, this green tea powder is now lurking in your comfort food. The result? Dishes that’ll either spark curiosity or scar you for life. Proceed with caution (and of course, humour).

Biryani To Lassi: Matcha-Infused Dishes Indians Didn’t Ask For

What began innocently enough with matcha lattes and skincare face masks has spiralled into a full-blown culinary rebellion. And, of course, as with every Instagram trend, once one person jumps in, everyone follows like it’s the finale of MasterChef and the only ingredient left in the pantry is matcha.

Matcha Biryani

Just when we were learning to forgive the elaychi in biryani, the universe threw this curveball: Matcha Biryani. Yes, this actually exists. Heena Kausar Raad, a food vlogger and baker, posted a video on Instagram captioned: “International Baking Course mei bani Matcha Biryani.” You read that right; baking course. Biryani. Matcha. Together. In the video, Heena enthusiastically blends green matcha powder into rice like it’s the most natural thing in the world. Her students nervously laugh. The internet? Not so kind. One user commented, “Even her students are embarrassed. Please stick to baking.” Another added, “Somewhere, a Hyderabadi just fainted.”

Would You Try These Green Mutations?

So, here’s the big question: would you take a bite (or sip) of these matcha-infused Indian marvels? Or are you ready to blacklist the word “fusion” altogether?

Love them or loathe them, one thing’s clear: Indian kitchens will never stop experimenting, and Instagram will never stop watching.
