Effective Deskercise To Prevent Dvt

By |2025-04-04T10:35:23+02:00April 4, 2025|Fitness News, News|0 Comments

Deskercise, or desk exercises, are simple movements office workers can perform at their desks to improve circulation and reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). These exercises counteract the effects of prolonged sitting, which is a key contributor to poor blood flow and clot formation.

Effective Deskercises to Prevent DVT

1- Foot and Leg Movements

Heel and Toe Raises:

    • Sit upright and place your feet flat on the floor.
    • Raise your heels while keeping your toes on the ground, then lower and lift your toes while keeping your heels on the ground.
    • Repeat 10–15 times per set.

    Ankle Circles:

    • Lift one foot off the floor and rotate your ankle in circular motions.
    • Do 10 circles in each direction for both feet.

    Leg Extensions:

    • Straighten one leg and hold it parallel to the floor for 5 seconds, then lower it.
    • Alternate legs and aim for 10 repetitions per leg.
    Effective Deskercise To Prevent Dvt

    2- Seated Marching

    Mini March:

    • While seated, lift one knee toward your chest, then alternate with the other leg as if marching.
    • Continue for 30–60 seconds to activate the calf and thigh muscles.

      3- Seated Stretching

      Seated Calf Stretch:

        • Extend one leg forward, keeping your heel on the ground.
        • Flex your foot upward and hold for 10–15 seconds.
        • Switch legs and repeat.

        Hamstring Stretch:

        • Sit on the edge of your chair and extend one leg straight out.
        • Lean forward slightly from your hips until you feel a stretch in the back of your thigh.
        • Hold for 15–20 seconds per leg.

        4- Core and Posture Boosters

        Seated Torso Twists:

          • Sit upright and twist your torso to one side, holding the backrest for support.
          • Return to the center and twist to the other side.
          • Repeat 5–10 times on each side.

          Seated Pelvic Tilts:

          • Rock your pelvis forward and backward while seated, engaging your core.
          • Perform 10–15 repetitions to ease lower back tension and improve circulation.

          5- Standing Deskercises

          Calf Raises:

            • Stand up and raise your heels off the ground, then lower slowly.
            • Do 10–15 repetitions for improved calf muscle activity.

            Mini Squats:

            • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and perform shallow squats, keeping your back straight.
            • Aim for 10–12 repetitions.

            Bonus Tips:

            • Set a Timer: Stand or move for a few minutes every hour.
            • Hydrate Regularly: Drinking water promotes better blood flow.
            • Compression Socks: Consider wearing these if you’re at higher risk of DVT.

Integrating these exercises into your workday can make a significant difference in preventing DVT and improving overall health. Would you like suggestions for incorporating these into a daily routine?

GBP/JPY Today 04/04: Risk-Off Drives Volatility (Video)

By |2025-04-04T09:40:46+02:00April 4, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • The British pound has fallen rather significantly during the trading session on Thursday as we continue to see a lot of risk aversion, especially after the tariff announcement came out of the United States.
  • Because of this, we’ve seen a lot of traders run toward the Japanese yen, long considered one of the premier safety currencies in the world.

What will be interesting to see is how the market behaves after we’ve had time to digest all of the news, which of course has been very rapidly released. The Americans have slept massive tariffs on most of the rest of the world, and how certain countries behave will have a major outsized influence on how the markets behave. For example, some of the bigger ones like China and the European Union obviously will be crucial, but there are other countries that will also be moving, both of these groups will more likely than not move this pair, if for no other reason than the fact that the GBP/JPY pair tends to move based on risk appetite more than anything else.

Friday Could Be Wild

During the trading session on Friday, we will get the employment numbers coming out of the United States, which almost always causes quite a bit of volatility as far as risk appetite is concerned. Because of this, it’s very likely that we will continue to see a lot of noisy behavior, and if it’s more of a “risk off day”, then the Japanese yen will continue to strengthen. The ¥190 level is an area that you need to be watching very closely, as it is a large, round, psychologically significant figure, and of course an area that traders will be paying close attention to for any signs of a bounce.

The ¥195 level above is going to be important as well, and if we can break above there then it would be a very bullish sign. That being said, we are nowhere near doing that, so I think more likely than not, we start bouncing around in a bit of a bounce.

What the science says about multivitamins, magnesium and 7 other supplements

By |2025-04-04T09:38:13+02:00April 4, 2025|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

The science behind supplements doesn’t always match the reputation behind them.
Getty Images

I get why supplements are popular: Taking a pill feels easier than addressing lifestyle factors, such as poor diet or sleep.

But in many cases, the claims behind supplements aren’t backed by strong data. And you can’t redeem an unbalanced diet by popping a pill to fill in the nutrient gaps.

As a doctor, I tend to be wary of most supplements without a medical reason. Supplements are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration the way medications are, and putting anything into our bodies involves a risk-benefit calculation. While the risks of taking certain supplements are not absurdly high, don’t mistake them for zero. Run any new supplements by your physician to ensure you’re not at a higher risk of a bad outcome.

So what should you know about specific supplements? Here are nine popular ones I’ve discussed in previous columns, and what the science says about them.

1. Multivitamins

About one-third of Americans take multivitamins regularly. Many purchase the supplement because they think it can affect broad health outcomes — help them live longer, decrease cancer risk and reduce cardiovascular disease. Otherwise-healthy people also take it to fill gaps in their diets.

I wish it was that straightforward. Though there’s some encouraging data on the benefits of multivitamins for healthy adults, the supplement isn’t a cure-all: A study published last year in JAMA Network Open of nearly 400,000 adults who were followed for almost 30 years found that multivitamins did not confer any longevity benefit.

Taking a multivitamin daily is generally regarded as safe. But because there isn’t enough evidence of benefits for healthy adults, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force does not recommend it.

My advice? Follow a healthy diet. This has been well established in multiple large studies to improve numerous health outcomes, from reversing coronary heart disease to reducing cancer risk.

2. Psyllium

Most supplements aren’t worth your money. But this one is.

Robust studies have consistently shown psyllium husk — or psyllium, for short — may lower our cholesterol, dampen glucose spikes, help us stay full longer, and even aid in treating constipation and diarrhea — all while serving our microbiome a sweet, sweet feast.

Psyllium comes from the mainly soluble fiber outer shell of the Plantago ovata plant. It’s the primary ingredient in many over-the-counter fiber supplements, but what sets psyllium apart from other fibers are two properties:

• It’s rich in arabinoxylan, a molecule that forms a gel when it contacts water, allowing psyllium to promote special reactions, including the conversion of cholesterol into bile acids, as it makes its way through the digestive tract.

• When psyllium reaches the colon, it becomes a prebiotic for your microbiome, spurring the production of beneficial metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids.

These properties result in numerous health benefits that are backed by decades of research.

3. Collagen

Supplementing with collagen has become increasingly popular in recent years, with brands claiming it can boost nail, skin and hair health. But there isn’t strong evidence behind these claims.

Collagen is a protein found in many parts of the body — in cartilage, bone, tendons and skin. It helps build a structural framework to preserve the skin’s integrity. But as we get old, we produce less collagen. This contributes to skin appearing less elastic — even saggy — and wrinkles forming more easily.

Though several studies on collagen supplementation point to increased elasticity and improvement in wrinkles in skin, the data is often muddied by confounding study design, lack of objective microscopic evidence or funding straight from the people selling the products.

4. Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha has become popular among high-profile celebrities and TikTok scrollers for many reasons — they claim it improves sleep, anxiety, memory and even muscle mass.

Those who use ashwagandha to help with sleep are probably availing themselves of its known sedating qualities (its Latin name, Withania somnifera, references this). But while ashwagandha may adequately induce sleep, it shouldn’t be viewed as a long-term solution. Before trying it, I’d recommend seeing your health care provider to understand what’s causing your sleep issues. There are many reasons for insomnia, such as depression and sleep apnea, for which ashwagandha is not the first choice of treatment.

5. Magnesium

The data on taking a magnesium supplement is underwhelming for some of the purported benefits popularized on social media, including taking magnesium for sleep and mood symptoms. There are a few clearer circumstances where magnesium supplementation could be warranted, such as for constipation, but it’s hard for a doctor like me to give magnesium supplementation an unconditional stamp of approval.

Although too much magnesium can be toxic to your body, taking low levels — less than 350 mg daily — probably won’t cause any harm unless you have kidney disease. But it may not do any good, either.

Here is an alternative I can gladly endorse: Eat more magnesium-rich foods. That way, you’ll get the boost of magnesium as well as the other natural benefits of these foods.

6. Iron

People with an iron deficiency often feel exhausted. If that sounds like you, you should ask your doctor about getting tested for iron-deficiency anemia.

Young children, people who have heavy menses or are pregnant, and older people should be particularly vigilant. A study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine in 2023 found that about 1 in 4 healthy adults, 70 and older, developed anemia within five years of enrolling in the study and that taking a low-dose daily aspirin increased that risk by 20%.

If you have iron-deficiency anemia, you should take an iron supplement. But here’s an interesting pro-tip I share with my patients: Don’t take it every day. A study found that taking an iron supplement every other day can optimize iron absorption — and may mitigate side effects such as nausea and constipation.

7. Greens powders

Greens powders, made with greens such as kale and algae, are hugely popular on social media. They’re also expensive. I appreciate that fresh vegetables are often not cheap, but once you’re dropping $50 to $100 on a month’s supply of powdered greens, maybe your money is better spent on interventions with proven benefit.

Many of these formulas are proprietary, meaning we don’t fully know what’s in them. What we do know is that they’re heavily processed: Greens powders are at the very least freeze-dried, powdered and often mixed with additives and sweeteners.

Ask yourself this: Does your greens powder taste good mixed in water? You probably couldn’t stomach fresh broccoli and water. So what was added to that powder to make it tolerable to you?

Eating fresh vegetables is always going to be more beneficial than taking greens powders.

8. Vitamin B12

Some people think that vitamin B12 can help with fatigue and boost energy levels. But there’s no proven benefit to taking vitamin B12 for fatigue unless you have a deficiency that causes anemia.

Start by asking your doctor for a simple set of blood tests for vitamin B12 and related biomarkers. Adults above age 65 and vegans are particularly at risk of a deficiency. If you’re deficient in the vitamin, you should take a supplement.

For everyone else looking for an energy boost, my advice is to talk to your physician about other ways to help with energy levels, including making lifestyle changes or getting tested to rule out potential medical issues such as thyroid disease.

9. Probiotics

Probiotics are a multibillion-dollar for-profit industry. But most people who take them are wasting their money.

I’ve seen wide-reaching promises about probiotics touted everywhere — in supermarkets, pharmacies, online and on television by “gut health experts,” including fellow physicians. Proponents claim probiotics can boost your microbiome — the organisms that live inside your gut — and help with digestive issues, immune function and even mental health.

But the marketing claims about over-the-counter probiotics largely do not match the evidence. As a gastroenterologist, I rarely advise my patients to start a probiotic — much to their surprise. They’re even more surprised when I tell them that’s part of the evidence-based guidelines: The American Gastroenterological Association does not recommend probiotics for most digestive conditions.

Instead, here’s what I do recommend: Eat a fiber-rich diet. This time-tested recommendation remains one of the strongest-studied ways to promote and preserve a healthy microbiome and improve your overall health.

Dogecoin Price Prediction: Analyst Forecasts $0.57 DOGE Amid Trump and Musk’s Influence

By |2025-04-04T09:36:41+02:00April 4, 2025|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Dogecoin (DOGE) is back in the spotlight as analysts forecast a potential surge to $0.57. A growing consensus within the crypto community suggests a massive price surge if DOGE successfully breaches key resistance levels.

Factors such as whale accumulation, bullish technical indicators, and market sentiment have contributed to this optimistic outlook. However, the influence of prominent figures like Elon Musk and Donald Trump remains a critical element in Dogecoin’s future price movements.

Key Resistance Levels to Watch

For Dogecoin to fully unlock its potential, it must first overcome significant resistance zones. The $0.21 and $0.18 levels are points of interest. From the perspective of analyst Ali Martinez, breaking through these price levels would be setting the stage for further price increases. “Once DOGE surpasses the $0.21 level, there will not be much to prevent it from going past the $0.36 level and beyond,” Martinez said.

However, experts warn that in the absence of breaking these levels of resistance, Dogecoin can still remain in consolidation or stagnation. DOGE should keep moving upward, especially with technical indicators like the Relative Strength Index (RSI) showing upward momentum.

The Influence of Donald Trump and Elon Musk

Elon Musk, or the “DogeFather,” has played a significant role in Dogecoin’s price history. In spite of recent volatility, Musk’s role in the world of cryptocurrency remains one of the most significant factors in Dogecoin’s potential revival. Musk’s role as head of the United States Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is under review because of rumors that he would step down.

These rumors have instigated market uncertainty, with some analysts fearing that his departure would cool the price expectations of Dogecoin. Other analysts have argued that whatever short-term loss on account of Musk’s departure, it would prove to be transient, given increased whale activity and bullish technicals.

Meanwhile, new economic policies from President Trump, including further tariffs, have added another layer of uncertainty to the market. Although Trump’s effect on Dogecoin has been indirect, the current political climate could have some role to play in driving market sentiment, and by that same extension, the direction of Dogecoin’s price. “Musk and Trump’s influence on Dogecoin cannot be ignored. Any shift in their positions could lead to significant volatility,” said cryptocurrency analyst Olivia Stephanie.

Market Sentiment and Predictions

Market sentiment for Dogecoin is mixed, with others anticipating an outright price increase right away and some expecting short-term volatility. Price of the crypto is extremely reactive to investor sentiment, with the derivative markets also indicating increasingly optimistic moods. Others, meanwhile, caution restraint, as the price of Dogecoin can also decline if important support levels like $0.15 are broken.

Market Sentiment and Predictions

Analysts such as Balo and Kumar believe that if DOGE can maintain its support level of $0.16 and breach resistance points, it could witness a significant rally. “The coming weeks will be decisive for Dogecoin,” Kumar stated. “If it manages to stay above the $0.16 barrier and break through over the $0.18 and $0.21 resistance levels, we may see the price spike to $0.57.”

Looking Forward: What Lies Ahead for DOGE?

While the future price movement of Dogecoin remains uncertain, there are several indicators that suggest that the coin could be on the verge of an enormous rally. The combination of whale action, technical momentum, and the influence of high-profile figures like Musk and Trump is a sign that Dogecoin is poised to break out. But the coin must first breach key resistance points to achieve its full potential.

Currently, DOGE is hovering around $0.174, with analysts closely watching the $0.18 and $0.21 resistance levels to determine if a breakout is imminent. While Dogecoin’s potential climb to $0.57 remains uncertain, market interest is surging as DOGE approaches a critical threshold.

Crude Oil Price Forecast: Crude Oil Plunges to 17-Day Low

By |2025-04-04T07:44:33+02:00April 4, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

Volatility Likely Within One-Week Range

Nonetheless, given the wide trading range for this week, crude oil could trade within the range for some time. The high-to-low price range for the week is $66.17 to $72.49 currently, which reflects a decline of $6.32 or 9.6%. Of course, there is also a chance that crude oil could drop below today’s low and head towards long-term support around $65.40. That was a 22-month low for crude oil. Given the strong bearish weekly reversal signal today, it is looking more likely that the price of crude oil eventually resolves to the downside. It has been largely consolidating for almost two years.

Possible Resistance Levels

Price levels to watch during a bounce for potential resistance start with a $68.37 to $68.53 price range, consisting of previous resistance and the 20-Day MA, respectively. That price range is followed by a range from $68.82 to $69.07. The price range starts with an interim swing low and ends with a minor swing low at $69.07 from Monday.

Support Found at 88.6% Retracement

Despite a very sharp decline today, crude oil respected the deep 88.6% Fibonacci retracement level at $66.20 as the low for the day was $66.17. That ratio is the square root of 78.6%, another important ratio, which is the square root of the golden ratio, 61.8%. This could mean that a temporary floor for the price of crude oil may have been established. It also further validates the usefulness of Fibonacci and harmonic ratios regarding price patterns in crude oil.

‘Immortality herb’ may be more beneficial than green tea

By |2025-04-04T07:36:53+02:00April 4, 2025|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

Herb your enthusiasm!

You’ve heard of ginseng and ginkgo biloba — these Chinese herbs are widely used to enhance cognitive function, boost energy and reduce stress.

But you probably aren’t aware of jiaogulan. This lesser-known, so-called “immortality herb” is turning heads for its potential to increase metabolism, lower cholesterol and reduce inflammation while promoting longevity.

Jiaogulan, which grows in the mountainous and forested areas of Asia, is known officially as Gynostemma pentaphyllum and unofficially as “southern ginseng” or “miracle grass.” Getty Images

“Few people in the US know about it,” Dr. Michael Aziz, an NYC board-certified internist and regenerative medicine specialist, told The Post.

Aziz, who consumes 900 daily milligrams of jiaogulan, spills the tea on the science behind the vining plant.

What is jiaogulan?

Jiaogulan, which grows in the mountainous and forested areas of Asia, is known officially as Gynostemma pentaphyllum and unofficially as “southern ginseng” or “miracle grass.”

Though it has been used in folk medicine for centuries, jiaogulan has really surged in popularity the last 10 years.

Jiaogulan is used in herbal tea and dietary supplements. Getty Images

It’s primarily found in herbal tea and dietary supplements.

“Jiaogulan tea has a very high ORAC value (antioxidant capacity). It is eight times higher than what is found in green tea,” said Aziz, author of “The Ageless Revolution.”

Aziz suggests brewing one to two teaspoons of dried jiaogulan tea leaves in 250 milliliters of water, straining and serving.

He describes the taste as bitter but slightly sweet, while others call it “earthy.”

The bitterness stems from jiaogulan’s saponins, organic chemicals believed to hold the key to the plant’s health benefits.

“The bitter taste and cold nature of [jiaogulan] are particularly effective in clearing heat and detoxifying the body, making it beneficial for conditions such as viral hepatitis, chronic gastroenteritis, chronic bronchitis,” researchers wrote in the January edition of the Journal of Functional Foods.

“The sweet taste of [jiaogulan] nourishes the heart and protects the liver, benefits the qi and blood better and is more effective against hyperlipidemia, hypertension, fatty liver, insomnia and headaches.”

How does jiaogulan benefit health?

Jiaogulan contains gypenosides, a type of saponin.

Gypenosides are structurally similar to ginsenosides found in ginseng.

Jiaogulan shares some similarities with ginseng (pictured here). Getty Images

Gypenosides “stimulate AMP-activated protein kinase, an enzyme that plays a central role in maintaining cellular energy balance. They have antioxidant effects,” Aziz explained.

“They also improve insulin signaling and improve the function of mitochondria, which are the batteries of our cells,” he added. “Those are some of the hallmarks of aging that affect longevity.”

Aziz said jiaogulan has been shown to exhibit anticancer properties and help reduce blood pressure as well.

What are the potential side effects?

Nausea and dizziness are two reported side effects of jiaogulan. Getty Images/iStockphoto

Jiaogulan is considered safe for consumption, Aziz said.

The most frequently reported side effects are nausea and diarrhea and less often, vomiting, dizziness, blurred vision or tinnitus.

People taking medications should consult with a healthcare provider before adding jiaogulan to their daily routine, as the supplement can interact with drugs.

“Diabetics should be careful and adjust their medications down with the help of their doctors if they drink massive amounts” of jiaogulan tea because it can lower blood sugar, Aziz advised.

Former Australian Stock Exchange CEO Dismisses $10,000 XRP Price Predictions as Unrealistic

By |2025-04-04T07:35:40+02:00April 4, 2025|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

The XRP community is pushing back against unrealistic price predictions that often circulate on social media.

Influential voices within the space are calling for more responsible discussions. They urge XRP influencers to move away from exaggerated forecasts and focus on real developments within the ecosystem.

A notable figure in the community, the individual behind the “All Things XRP” community-driven action, recently took to X to voice concerns over the rampant spread of speculative price targets. In a post addressed to XRP influencers, they emphasized the need for fact-based insights rather than clickbait-driven hype.

“We all want XRP to moon. However, saying XRP will rise to $100 or $10,000 overnight does not help anyone. They are all hype without truth, and community members are starting to see through it,” the post read. “People are frustrated, looking for leadership, not clickbait hype.”

Industry Experts Weigh In

Alex Caraco, a former CEO of an Australian stock market company, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for realistic expectations. He noted that exaggerated price predictions create false hope and mislead new investors. In his words:

“It’s sad to see incoming XRP buyers sold the story of $1,000 to $10,000 and that it’s going to happen tomorrow or next week.”

Furthermore, Caraco pointed out that the crypto market operates differently from traditional stock markets, making precise predictions difficult. He also acknowledged the potential of stablecoins and other well-supported crypto assets in the digital asset space.

A Call for Constructive Engagement

Panos Mekras, co-founder of Anodos Finance, also joined the discussion. He urged influencers and the broader community to focus on real developments within the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and decentralized finance (DeFi).

“It’s time for the community to stop focusing on meaningless predictions and nonsense riddles. The reality and actual developments are far more exciting and real,” Mekras said.

Notably, the call for responsible dialogue highlights a growing sentiment within the XRP community. While optimism is welcome, it must be in reality. Besides exaggerated price speculation, the community also struggles with internal misinformation.

Crypto Eri, a prominent community member, previously urged the XRP Army to tackle internal misinformation with the same effort they use to counter FUD from critics. One common misconception she warned against is the false claim of a connection between XRP and ISO 20022.

Eri has emphasized that XRP has no direct link to ISO 20022, a global messaging standard for financial institutions. Ripple’s early compliance with the standard does not mean XRP is tied to it. She believes clearing up such misconceptions could strengthen the XRP community and its credibility.

XAU/USD holds positive ground above $3,100, all eyes on US NFP data

By |2025-04-04T05:43:29+02:00April 4, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • Gold price rebounds to around $3,115 in Thursday’s late American session.
  • The heightened economic uncertainty supports the safe-haven demand, supporting the Gold price.
  • Traders await the US March employment data, which is due later on Friday.

Gold price (XAU/USD) recovers some lost ground to near $3,115 during the late American session on Thursday after facing some profit-taking in the previous session. Escalating concerns over a global trade war and ongoing geopolitical risks boost the Gold price, a traditional safe-haven asset.

The precious metal trims losses after falling over 2% from an all-time high, as a broader market selloff triggered by US President Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariffs policy infected Gold traders. Traders attributed gold’s dip to profit-taking and investors selling some of their bullion holdings to cover losses in other asset classes.

However, the downside for the yellow metal might be capped amid the fears that Trump’s tariffs could dampen economic growth. The heightened uncertainty could boost the safe-haven flows, benefiting the Gold price. “As the market sold-off on the deleveraging pressures, the market was looking for buying opportunities on the dip,” said Peter Grant, vice president and senior metals strategist at Zaner Metals.

All eyes will be on the US March employment data on Friday, including Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP), Unemployment Rate and Average Hourly Earnings. In case of the stronger-than-expected outcome, this could lift the Greenback and cap the upside for the USD-denominated commodity price. Additionally, Federal Reserve (Fed) Chair Jerome Powell, Michael Barr, and Christopher Waller are set to speak later on the same day.

Gold FAQs

Gold has played a key role in human’s history as it has been widely used as a store of value and medium of exchange. Currently, apart from its shine and usage for jewelry, the precious metal is widely seen as a safe-haven asset, meaning that it is considered a good investment during turbulent times. Gold is also widely seen as a hedge against inflation and against depreciating currencies as it doesn’t rely on any specific issuer or government.

Central banks are the biggest Gold holders. In their aim to support their currencies in turbulent times, central banks tend to diversify their reserves and buy Gold to improve the perceived strength of the economy and the currency. High Gold reserves can be a source of trust for a country’s solvency. Central banks added 1,136 tonnes of Gold worth around $70 billion to their reserves in 2022, according to data from the World Gold Council. This is the highest yearly purchase since records began. Central banks from emerging economies such as China, India and Turkey are quickly increasing their Gold reserves.

Gold has an inverse correlation with the US Dollar and US Treasuries, which are both major reserve and safe-haven assets. When the Dollar depreciates, Gold tends to rise, enabling investors and central banks to diversify their assets in turbulent times. Gold is also inversely correlated with risk assets. A rally in the stock market tends to weaken Gold price, while sell-offs in riskier markets tend to favor the precious metal.

The price can move due to a wide range of factors. Geopolitical instability or fears of a deep recession can quickly make Gold price escalate due to its safe-haven status. As a yield-less asset, Gold tends to rise with lower interest rates, while higher cost of money usually weighs down on the yellow metal. Still, most moves depend on how the US Dollar (USD) behaves as the asset is priced in dollars (XAU/USD). A strong Dollar tends to keep the price of Gold controlled, whereas a weaker Dollar is likely to push Gold prices up.
