Copper, Manganese Intake in Pregnancy Tied to Midlife Heart Health

By |2025-03-07T13:46:39+02:00March 7, 2025|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

FRIDAY, March 7, 2025 (HealthDay News) — Getting essential vitamins and minerals during pregnancy can help a woman maintain healthy blood pressure into middle age, new research suggests.

High levels of the minerals copper and manganese in pregnant women were associated with lower blood pressure decades later, as well as a reduced risk of high blood pressure, researchers reported.

Higher levels of vitamin B12 also were associated with lower blood pressure in later life, according to findings published March 6 in the journal Hypertension.

“Optimizing these essential metals, minerals and vitamins — particularly copper, manganese and vitamin B12 — during pregnancy may offer protective benefits against hypertension in midlife, an especially critical time period for women’s future cardiovascular risk in later life,” lead researcher Mingyu Zhang, an epidemiologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, said in a news release.

For the study, his team analyzed data from an ongoing long-term study of nearly 500 pregnant women recruited between 1999 and 2002.

The women underwent blood testing during their pregnancy for their levels of healthy essential minerals, such as copper, magnesium, manganese, selenium and zinc, researchers said. They also were tested for levels of folate and vitamin B12.

After nearly 20 years of follow up, researchers checked in again with the women, who’d now reached an average age of 51.

The women’s blood pressure was tested during this check in, and was considered high if greater than 130/80 or if they’d been prescribed high blood pressure meds.

Results showed that if women had doubled levels of copper and manganese in their blood during pregnancy, their risk of midlife high blood pressure was 25% and 20% lower, respectively.

Doubled levels of vitamin B12 also contributed to lower blood pressure, but researchers noted that about 95% of participants had B12 levels within the normal range.

Copper, manganese, selenium and zinc all lowered blood pressure, and the higher the levels, the more blood pressure benefitted later in life, researchers found.

However, the findings should not be interpreted as recommendations, since researchers were unable to tell whether women got these vitamins and minerals from food, dietary supplements or other sources, Zhang said.

“More research including clinical trials is needed to determine the optimal dietary intake of these minerals and micronutrients,” Zhang said.

Researchers hope to ultimately identify women at high risk for developing high blood pressure later in life and intervene during pregnancy, either with enhanced nutrition or supplements.

These results were scheduled for presentation Saturday at an American Heart Association meeting in New Orleans.

Cardano Price Teases Wedge Breakout Rally: Will It Top $2?

By |2025-03-07T13:44:14+02:00March 7, 2025|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Cardano price struggles for a bullish comeback while analysts picture a potential rally to $2 if ADA price exceeds $1.14.

As the crypto market remains highly volatile, with Bitcoin fluctuating near the $88,000 mark, Cardano is witnessing a quick pullback. The ADA price dropped by 7% last night and continues a bearish trend with an intraday pullback of 4.08%.

Currently, Cardano trades at a market price of $0.8694 and warns of a potential return to $0.73. Will a lower price rejection candle signal a reversal for Cardano? Let’s find out.

Cardano Price Struggles at $0.86

On the daily price chart, Cardano is fluctuating sharply between the 50% Fibonacci level at $0.62 and the $1.20 supply zone. After a bullish engulfing candle formed over the weekend, with a 72% surge, Cardano has since shifted to a lateral movement.

The bullish recovery failed to overcome the supply pressure at the overhead zone, resulting in sharp fluctuations near the 78.6% Fibonacci level, which is at $0.9216.

Currently, Cardano has reached this critical level and formed a second consecutive bearish candle. As Cardano navigates this volatile path, the MACD and signal lines indicate a potential bearish crossover.

The average lines have entered positive territory, but the declining histograms suggest a trend reversal is possible. Additionally, the daily RSI line is nearing the halfway mark, reflecting a slight decline in bullish momentum. Hence, the technical indicators point to the possibility of a pullback.

Will Cardano Price Bounce Back To $2?

According to Fibonacci levels, the current short-term volatility suggests a potential pullback to the 61.8% Fibonacci level at $0.735. However, similar to the lower price rejection on Tuesday, the ADA price trend is likely to regain bullish momentum as the broader market stabilizes.

Furthermore, Ali Martinez, a crypto analyst, highlights the potential for a bull run in Cardano to the $2 milestone. In the analyst’s latest X post, he notes that Cardano’s price trend is forming a right-angled descending broadening wedge pattern.

This pattern is typically considered bullish and often leads to a breakout rally. Currently, the overhead resistance of the pattern stands at the $1.14 horizontal level. According to the analyst, a bullish breakout above this resistance could trigger a high-momentum rally in ADA toward the $2 mark.

Axie Infinity teases new Web3 game as NFT outlook turns positive

By |2025-03-07T12:14:56+02:00March 7, 2025|News, NFT News|0 Comments

Update March 7, 6:10 am UTC: This article has been updated to add comments from Sky Mavis co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin.

Non-fungible token (NFT) gaming project Axie Infinity released a new trailer for an upcoming video game, Atia’s Legacy, a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game set in the Axie universe.

On Nov. 25, Axie Infinity developer Sky Mavis announced its plans to release a new game set in the world of Axie Infinity. The announcement came amid company layoffs that freed up resources for several projects going into 2025. Sky Mavis co-founder and CEO Trung Nguyen said one of the projects was the “new Axie game.”

On March 6, Sky Mavis released the game trailer, giving a sneak peek at Atia’s Legacy. Sky Mavis says the game is “the next chapter” in the Axie universe. The team highlighted that Axie Infinity continues to “empower players with true asset ownership.”

The trailer shows improvements to its initial iteration that featured two-dimensional Axies performing turn-based combat. It displays improved elements, such as 3D combat, mini-games like solving puzzles and catching fish and its own farming simulator.

Sky Mavis launches referral rewards in AXS

Sky Mavis said they’ve put everything learned over the last seven years of building and powering Web3 games into the project. The team said that if things go as planned, it will open up “play-tests” where users can test the game in 2025.

The company also deployed a referral program to attract players. Sky Mavis said users who successfully refer their friends to play would receive the game’s native tokens, Axie Infinity (AXS), as a reward. “AXS will be paid out for successful referrals with more tokens unlocked as the number of onboarded gamers climbs higher,” Sky Mavis said.

Sky Mavis said it would ship a playable minimum viable product that features squad-based combat, unified progression, player-versus-environment, resource and crafting and social interactions. However, the company did not provide a specific timeline for shipping the game.

Blockchain gaming develops amid positive NFT outlook

Apart from Sky Mavis, Gunzilla Games’ blockchain shooter Off The Grid dropped a significant update for one of its major maps on Feb. 28. It integrated gameplay improvements like jetpack upgrades and rotational aim assist.

These blockchain gaming developments came as the US has begun to shift its approach toward NFTs. On Feb. 22, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) dropped its investigation on the NFT marketplace OpenSea.

On March 3, the securities regulator closed its probe into the NFT company Yuga Labs. The company said this was a “huge win” and added, “NFTs are not securities.”

In addition, a company connected to US President Donald Trump wants Trump trademarks for a metaverse and an NFT marketplace. On Feb. 28, Trump-owned company DTTM Operations filed trademark applications for the word “TRUMP” in relation to an NFT marketplace and a metaverse.

In a statement, Sky Mavis co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin told Cointelegraph that these developments show promise because strict regulations made people afraid to build real products. Zirlin added:

“Since Web3 gaming is so dependent on economic models and design, these breakthroughs are promising for honing incentive models and making play-to-earn work. We’ve been in a paradigm where we’ve only unlocked 35% of the power of tokens because teams are too afraid to give the tokens value.”

When asked if Web3 gaming will make a comeback, the executive said it’s “already back.” Even though speculative capital is not entering the markets, Zirlin told Cointelegraph that there are “more Web3 gamers today than ever before.”
