Protein Powder Testing Reveals Lead and Other Heavy Metals

By |2025-01-14T23:52:46+02:00January 14, 2025|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

Nearly half of protein powders evaluated in a recent analysis contained enough toxic heavy metals to exceed California Proposition 65 safety thresholds — one of the most stringent in the country, if not the world, experts say.

The study, conducted by the Clean Label Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transparent food labeling, found that 47 percent of the 160 protein powders tested exceeded California’s rigorous safety thresholds for heavy metals such as lead and cadmium.

Heavy metals can end up in our food through soil and water contamination as well as through manufacturing processes.

“There is an inextricable link between the health of our soils and waterways, our food, and public health,” said Jaclyn Bowen, the executive director of Clean Label Project, in a press release.

Ripple’s XRP Price Prediction 2025 – New All-time High Incoming

By |2025-01-14T23:51:09+02:00January 14, 2025|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Ripple Labs, the company behind the cryptocurrency XRP, is poised for significant growth under President-elect Donald Trump’s administration. The anticipated shift towards more crypto-friendly policies is expected to create a favorable environment for Ripple’s operations and the XRP token’s market performance.

Regulatory Environment and Leadership Changes Under Trump

The current regulatory landscape has been challenging for cryptocurrencies, with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adopting stringent measures under Chair Gary Gensler.

Gensler’s tenure has been marked by rigorous enforcement actions against various crypto entities, including Ripple. However, with Trump’s election victory, there is an expectation of a more accommodating approach towards digital assets.

President Trump’s selection of Paul Atkins, known for his supportive stance on cryptocurrencies, as the new SEC Chair signals a potential easing of regulatory pressures. Atkins is anticipated to advocate for clearer guidelines and a more supportive environment for crypto businesses, which could benefit Ripple significantly.

Here’s the best part for all XRP and crypto HODLers and investors. Trump has promised to issue pro-crypto Executive Orders on the first day of his administration.

These could include:

  • Executive orders lifting or loosening crypto-focused regulations could come as soon as Day One.
  • Eliminating the Biden-era crypto accounting rule, which forced banks to treat digital assets on their balance sheets as liabilities.
  • Revoking Biden’s AI Executive Order: Many tech leaders say it stifled innovation.
  • Supporting Crypto Freedoms: Expect a push to reduce the compliance burden that stifled many startups.
  • Streamlining Federal Oversight: The new administration will push for a single, clear framework for crypto.
  • Regulatory Clarity: The biggest reason crypto has been on a roller-coaster is unpredictability around regulations and enforcement.
  • The approval of an XRP ETF. Bitwise has already applied for a spot XRP ETF. Approval is likely in early 2025.
  • Bitcoin Strategic Reserve: The specifics remain uncertain, but clarity could emerge as early as day one of Trump’s administration. Advocates praise this as a bold step toward positioning the U.S. as a frontrunner in the rapidly evolving digital economy. By establishing a national reserve of Bitcoin, the administration intends to utilize the digital asset as a safeguard against fiat currency instability and looming global economic shifts. Such a move would likely drive Bitcoin’s price upward, prompting analysts to revise their 2025 price predictions even higher.
  • All of the above factors provide extremely bullish tailwinds for the crypto market, XRP included.

Market Performance and Investor Sentiment

Since Trump’s election victory, XRP has experienced a substantial surge in value. The cryptocurrency has risen by over 370%, reflecting increased investor confidence in a more favorable regulatory environment. This optimism is further fueled by expectations that the new administration will reduce legal pressures on Ripple, particularly concerning the SEC’s previous allegations of XRP being an unregistered security.

XRP is up 9.8% over the last 24-hour period as the market rebounds in anticipation of the Trump inauguration.

Ripple’s XRP Price Prediction 2025 – New All-time High Incoming

Strategic Developments and Future Outlook

Ripple has been proactive in strengthening its position in the evolving crypto landscape. The company received final approval from the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) for its stablecoin, RLUSD, pegged to the U.S. Dollar. This approval is expected to enhance Ripple’s digital-payment platform, potentially attracting a broader user base and increasing XRP’s utility.

Additionally, Ripple’s leadership has been engaging with the incoming administration. CEO Brad Garlinghouse and Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty recently met with President-elect Trump, signaling a potential alignment of interests and a collaborative approach towards shaping the future of digital assets in the U.S.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has announced a strategic shift in the company’s operations, attributing it to the “Trump effect.” He notes that 75% of Ripple’s current job openings are now U.S.-based, a significant change from the past four years when most hires were international. This move is in response to anticipated pro-crypto policies under President-elect Donald Trump, which Garlinghouse believes will foster innovation and job growth in the U.S.

Garlinghouse also highlighted that Ripple has signed more U.S. deals in the last six weeks of 2024 than in the previous six months, indicating a renewed focus on the domestic market. This marks a dramatic reversal from a few years ago when the company considered relocating its global headquarters outside the U.S. due to regulatory pressures. At the height of its international expansion, Ripple reported that 95% of its customers were headquartered abroad, reflecting its prior wariness of U.S. regulatory uncertainty.

The optimism stems from expectations that the incoming administration will create a more favorable environment for blockchain and cryptocurrency businesses. Garlinghouse criticized the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under former Chair Gary Gensler for having “effectively frozen” Ripple’s domestic opportunities for years. He anticipates that this environment will change following the November 2024 election results.

This strategic pivot is part of Ripple’s broader plan to reinvest in its home market, particularly in engineering and product development roles. Industry watchers note that this move signifies a renewed sense of optimism among blockchain and cryptocurrency businesses in the U.S

Ripple’s Big Bet on Tokenization

Austin King, a seasoned crypto entrepreneur who sold his company to Ripple in 2019 and then worked with Ripple two years, has shared his insights on Ripple’s ambitious plans for the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

With recent high-profile acquisitions like Metaco and Standard Custody and the launch of Ripple USD (RLUSD), a NYDFS-regulated stablecoin, Ripple is doubling down on asset tokenization and interoperability as key strategies for its future growth in 2025 and beyond.

XRP Swell Ripple conference

Ripple has been on an acquisition spree. Source: X

Ripple invested over $250 million last year in acquisitions to bolster its custody solutions stack. The purchases of Metaco and Standard Custody aim to enhance Ripple’s infrastructure for tokenized assets and banking services. According to King, RLUSD represents a milestone in Ripple’s tokenization strategy, creating new opportunities for the XRPL.

In tandem, Ripple’s focus on the tokenization of assets through the XRPL will drive revenue from both tokenization and transaction fees. This mirrors Ripple’s successful use of XRPL in its On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) solutions for cross-border remittances.

Expanding Beyond XRPL: A 100x Opportunity

King believes Ripple’s ambitions extend beyond XRPL, with the potential to enable tokenization for banks across multiple blockchains. His current venture, Omni Network, aims to support this vision:

“Ripple acquired my first company, focused on interoperability. With Omni, I’m working to help the XRP Ledger expand tokenized banking assets across all chains. This is the 100x opportunity of this cycle,” said King.

Ripple’s omni-chain tokenization efforts could redefine the way digital assets are used in banking and finance. Ripple’s tokenization push, combined with its robust infrastructure investments, positions the company as a leader in the next evolution of digital assets. As King’s track record shows, Ripple’s strategy is built on innovation, interoperability, and scaling blockchain solutions for businesses.

Conclusion

The convergence of a more crypto-friendly administration under President Trump, strategic regulatory approvals, and proactive engagement with policymakers positions Ripple and XRP for substantial growth in 2025.

As XRP continues to outperform the market, analysts suggest it might even be possible for XRP to flip ETH in terms of marketcap this year. With the SEC expected to settle with Ripple this week, that will unleash XRP into full price discovery mode. All signs are flipping to bullish.

With a CPI report also out today, and markets turning optimistic as David Sacks’ and President Trump’s Crypto Ball approaches, the bulls will soon be back in the market’s control room.

Businesses and investors should closely monitor these developments, as they are likely to influence the broader adoption and integration of digital assets into the financial ecosystem. With strong tailwinds emerging, it is likely that XRP will outperform this crypto market cycle. XRP will be a top alt coin gainer and achieve a new all-time high this year.

Xerox price moves alongside downward trend line – Forecast today

By |2025-01-14T23:02:30+02:00January 14, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

Xerox Holdings’ stock price (XRX) inched higher in the intraday levels, buoyed by positive signals from the RSI as the stock tries to correct the main downward trend while trading alongside the negative trend line in the medium term, with negative pressure due to trading below the 50-day SMA.

Therefore we expect the stock to return lower, targeting the support of $8.04 anew, provided it settles below the resistance of $9.50.

Trend forecast for today: Likely Bearish

GBP/USD Forecast Today 14/01: Hits Potential Floor (Chart)

By |2025-01-14T21:54:24+02:00January 14, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • In my daily analysis of major currency pairs, the GBP/USD pair has caught my attention as we fell yet again during the Monday session.
  • In fact, we slammed into the crucial 1.21 level, an area that was a major swing low previously, and therefore could be an area of interest.
  • After all, a certain amount of “market memory” should be found here, and so far, the reaction has been rather strong.

Technical Analysis

The technical analysis for this GBP/USD pair is obviously horrible, but I think you’ve got a situation where you have to look at this through the prism of whether or not we are oversold at the moment. I think that’s probably the case, and therefore this bounce will make a certain amount of sense, however, I do not like the idea of “fishing for a bottom” here, despite the fact that most technical analyst would suggest this is a real possibility.

This is mainly due to the fact that the market is driven by questions about the British ability to get a reasonable budget past, and of course the whole idea that the Federal Reserve is light years away from doing anything remotely close to loosening monetary policy. After all, traders had initially thought that the Federal Reserve is going to cut multiple times in 2025, but the reality is that they will not be able to, and therefore I think you’ve got to look at this as a market that is pricing that in. However, we had gotten to far to the downside and I think it’s only a matter of time before we get a bit of a bounce. That bounce should end up being thought of as a “buying opportunity for US dollars.” The 1.2350 level is an area that I would love to start shorting from, but we will have to wait and see if we can even get that far to the upside.

The alternative is that we break down below the 1.21 level and then go looking to the 1.20 level after that. The 1.20 level is obviously a large, round, psychologically significant figure, and I do think it’s an area that we will eventually try to get to. That being said, over the last 4 sessions, we have dropped roughly 400 pips, and a bounce would make a certain amount of sense. Look for exhaustion to take advantage of.

What Is Asexual? – HealthyWomen

By |2025-01-14T21:47:18+02:00January 14, 2025|Fitness News, News|0 Comments

Emily Jamea, Ph.D., is a sex therapist, USA Today Best-Selling author and podcast host. You can find her here each month to share her latest thoughts about sex.

As a sex and relationship therapist, I’ve made it my mission to help people feel secure and confident in their sexuality. Most of the time, I work with people to boost desire, cure sexual dysfunction, overcome sexual inhibition or calm compulsive sexual urges.

But sometimes I work with people to help them feel secure and confident about the absence of their sexual feelings — a sexual orientation called asexuality.

In a world hyperfocused on romance, desire and sexual connection, asexuality is often overlooked. But, it’s as valid as any other sexual orientation. Approximately 1% of the population identifies as asexual. And percentages are slightly higher in the queer community, in younger adults and among those on the autism spectrum.

By shedding light on this often misunderstood sexual orientation, we can better understand not only those who identify as asexual but also the infinite nuances of intimacy, connection and love.

What is asexuality?

Asexuality is a sexual orientation where you have little to no sexual attraction to others. This doesn’t mean that asexual people can’t experience love, intimacy or connection. It also doesn’t mean that they’re celibate by choice or want to avoid romantic relationships altogether.

Asexuality exists on a spectrum, often referred to as the “ace spectrum,” which includes different types of attraction, desire and relationship preferences. Some asexual people identify as aromantic, meaning they don’t experience romantic love, while others might form deep romantic connections even though they don’t feel sexual attraction.

People who are “graysexual” may experience occasional or situational sexual attraction, while “demisexuals” require a strong emotional bond before feeling sexual desire.

While some people may feel crystal clear about being asexual, others may find themselves wondering if and where they fall on the spectrum.

Am I asexual?

If you’re wondering if you may be asexual, working with a skilled therapist and using assessments like the Asexuality Identification Scale test can help shed some light on your orientation.

Myths about asexuality

There are a lot of misconceptions about asexuality. One common myth is that asexual people are repressed, traumatized or ‘waiting for the right person.” This misunderstanding diminishes the legitimacy of asexuality as a sexual orientation and keeps harmful stereotypes going. Being asexual is not the same thing as being celibate, sexually inexperienced or uninterested in relationships.

Another common myth is that asexual people can’t have fulfilling relationships. In truth, many asexual people build deeply satisfying connections, whether they’re romantic, platonic or somewhere in between. Like anyone else, asexual people may seek companionship, emotional intimacy and shared life experiences. Some may even engage in sexual activity as an expression of love or a mutual agreement with a partner despite not experiencing sexual desire themselves.

Read: Good Sex with Emily Jamea: The Paradox of Desire >>

It’s important to remember that most components of sexuality are fluid. This means that some people may feel like their sexual orientation, gender identity and preferences change with time. Some people may feel like they fluctuate between feeling heterosexual, bisexual, gay or even asexual throughout periods of their life.

Navigating relationships as an asexual person

A common question about asexuality is how it influences relationships. All healthy relationships begin with honesty and communication, and asexual relationships are no different. If you’re asexual, you may need to have open conversations with partners about their desires and what intimacy looks like for them. This might involve redefining traditional ideas of partnership to prioritize emotional closeness, shared values or mutual support over sexual compatibility.

For asexual people in relationships with allosexual (non-asexual) partners, finding a balance that honors both individuals’ needs is key. This could mean you include compromise, creative expressions of intimacy or exploring alternative relationship structures, such as consensual non-monogamy so that the allosexual partner can get their sexual needs met. Ultimately, there is no one-size-fits-all approach, but with mutual respect and understanding, deeply fulfilling partnerships are possible.

Community is important for everybody, but especially for sexual minority groups. Online spaces such as the Asexuality Visibility and Education Network (AVEN) and local ace meet-ups offer opportunities for connection, validation and support. These spaces remind asexual individuals that they’re not alone and that their experiences are valid and worthy of recognition.

Moving toward greater acceptance

You don’t see a lot of asexual people represented in the mainstream media which can make people who identify as ace feel invisible and alienated. Sexuality is often portrayed as a universal and essential component of human existence, which makes it challenging for asexual people to see themselves reflected in societal norms. This lack of representation can lead to self-doubt, internalized stigma and difficulty coming to terms with their identity.

The good news is that visibility is growing. Acceptance begins with education and empathy. Shows like Sex Education and public figures such as asexuality activist Yasmin Benoit are helping bring asexuality into the conversation. Increased representation helps foster understanding and acceptance. Whether you identify as asexual or are simply an ally, acknowledging and validating this identity enriches our shared humanity.

XAU/USD pressures intraday highs as mood sours

By |2025-01-14T21:01:20+02:00January 14, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

XAU/USD Current price: $2,672.99

  • The United States Producer Price Index rose by less than anticipated in December.
  • Speculative interest continues to trade on sentiment and Donald Trump’s headlines.
  • XAU/USD ticks higher as the sentiment deteriorates, limited directional strength.

Spot Gold trades within familiar levels on Tuesday as a better market mood weighed on safe-haven demand throughout the first half of the day. The sentiment improved on headlines indicating that President-elect Donald Trump’s team is considering gradual tariff increases over the upcoming months to prevent a sudden increase in inflation. The plan, not confirmed neither deny by Trump at the time being, implies 2% to 5% tariffs increased per month.

Meanwhile, the United States (US) reported that wholesale-level inflation rose by less than anticipated in December. The Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 0.2% in the month, below the previous 0.4% and the expected 0.3%. On a yearly basis, the PPI was up 3.3%,  missing expectations of 3.4%. Finally, the core annual reading resulted at 3.5%, ticking higher from the 3.4% posted in November yet below the 3.8% anticipated by market players.

The positive mood receded as the American session developed, and the three major US indexes trade in the red.

The news reinforced speculation the Federal Reserve (Fed) will keep interest rates at their current levels for longer than previously anticipated. Speculative interest is now waiting for the US December Consumer Price Index (CPI), to be out on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom (UK) will also unveil CPI figures earlier in the day.

XAU/USD short-term technical outlook

XAU/USD hovers around $2,670, and the daily chart shows that bulls are cautiously adding. The pair remains above its moving averages, albeit a bullish 100 Simple Moving Average (SMA) is about to cross above a flat 20 SMA, signaling receding buying interest. Technical indicators, however, have resumed their advances within positive levels, limiting the odds of a relevant leg south.

In the 4-hour chart, a directionless 20 SMA has rejected advances since the week started, now acting as dynamic resistance at around $2,674.00. The 100 and 200 SMAs are also flat, yet well below the current level. Finally, technical indicators have ticked higher, although in neutral-to-bearish territory.

Support levels: 2,660.70 2,645.15 2,635.00

Resistance levels: 2,675.00 2,683.20 2,697.90

The USDJPY price around the moving average – Forecast today

By |2025-01-14T19:53:42+02:00January 14, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

The EURUSD price couldn’t manage to hold for long time below 1.0220$, to trade positively and attempts to recover, noticing that the EMA50 forms negative pressure that prevents the price from achieving more rise, while stochastic loses its positive momentum clearly.

Therefore, these factors encourage us to suggest the return to decline in the upcoming sessions, waiting to confirm breaking 1.0220$ to open the way to head towards 1.0100$ as a next main target, noting that breaching 1.0325$ will stop the bearish wave and lead the price to start bullish correction on the intraday basis.

The expected trading range for today is between 1.0165$ support and 1.0320$ resistance

Trend forecast: Bearish

Massachusetts lawmaker files bill to restrict access to weight loss and muscle supplements

By |2025-01-14T19:51:09+02:00January 14, 2025|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

Introduced by Massachusetts Representative Lindsay N. Sabadosa (D), HD.716 is similar to recent bills introduced in Virginia at the start of 2015 and Texas at the end of 2024. Both bills specifically mention creatine, green tea extract, raspberry ketone, garcinia cambogia, and coffee bean extract.

Kyle Turk, Vice President, Government Affairs at the Natural Products Association, told NutraIngredients-USA: “Once again, the Massachusetts legislature has proposed a misguided overreach that undermines personal freedom and public health. The NPA has defeated this proposal for several years now, and we will continue our efforts during this session.

“Consumers don’t deserve excessive regulation, this bill caters to fear-mongering and threatens an industry that provides millions of Americans with safe and effective health products. Congress must act now to pass legislation that preempts the states, ensuring uniform standards that protect access to dietary supplements.”

It is perhaps unsurprising that restrictive bills have been introduced in Massachusetts in the past given that the state is home to the Strategic Training Initiative for the Prevention of Eating Disorders (STRIPED), launched as a “public health incubator” based at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Boston Children’s Hospital. STRIPED is seen as the originator of these bills.

STRIPED and other proponents of the restrictions cite a purported link between the use of such products and the worsening of eating disorders. However, a review of the scientific literature, funded by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), concluded that the “evidence to date does not support a causative role for dietary supplements in eating disorders.

“The use of dietary supplements for weight management in both male and female teens appears to be declining, and the objective of weight loss is not observed as a common motivation for the use of dietary supplements among this age group,” wrote Susan Hewlings, PhD, RD, the author of the review, which was published in Nutrients.

Elsewhere

As reported by NutraIngredients-USA, similar bills were introduced in Virginia, Texas and pre-filed in New Hampshire.

All of these bills contain very similar language to the one that passed in New York in 2023.

Earlier in 2024, the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), the Natural Products Association (NPA), and the United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) expressed joint opposition to controversial legislation in California that also aimed to restrict dietary supplement sales to minors. The bill failed to pass Senate appropriations; a result hailed by the dietary supplements industry.

A similar bill passed the New Jersey Assembly in October 2024 (A1848). The bill was received in the New Jersey Senate on December 5, and referred to the Senate’s Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee. S3987 was introduced in the New Jersey Senate on December 19.

Over the last 10 years, similar proposals have been defeated in Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri and Rhode Island.

This is a developing story and we will be updating the article with comments from dietary supplement stakeholders
