DeFi Investments Up with Polygon Labs, Lunex Network and Solana seeing Huge Increases h3>

As DeFi crypto investments surge, projects like Polygon Labs, Lunex Network, and Solana are grabbing investor attention with significant developments and growing user engagement. With new features, strategic partnerships, and promising presale token offerings, each platform showcases its unique strengths in the evolving DeFi landscape. Here, we’ll break down the latest updates from Lunex Network, Polygon Labs, and Solana, revealing why Lunex Network might be the top DeFi investment opportunity today.

DeFi Crypto Token Lunex Gains Momentum

Lunex Network is a strong contender in the DeFi crypto market, attracting investors to its presale token with a remarkable $2.4 million raised so far. At an entry-level price of $0.0026, Lunex is a promising opportunity for those looking to enter the DeFi space early. The presale token features a deflationary model, where regular token burns aim to reduce the supply over time, potentially increasing its value as demand grows.

Lunex offers access to staking options and also aims to provide a stable passive income through decentralized finance. The project’s focus on community and practical utility sets it apart as a presale token worth watching. As DeFi crypto continues to expand, Lunex Network’s accessible price and focus on user engagement and passive income could position it as a leading DeFi asset in the future.

Polygon Labs: Boosting DeFi through Strategic Partnerships

Polygon Labs has been making waves in the DeFi crypto sector through innovation and powerful collaborations. Polygon hosted the AggLayer Summit in Bangkok, where industry leaders gathered to explore solutions for blockchain interoperability and scalability. This summit showcased Polygon’s commitment to advancing DeFi crypto by tackling the issues of cross-chain integration and user-friendly DeFi applications. Polygon’s token, POL, has seen impressive gains bolstered by these partnerships and its reputation for scalable DeFi solutions. As a DeFi crypto with a strong ecosystem, Polygon’s continued growth in Web3 integration solidifies its role as a DeFi frontrunner.

Solana: High-Speed Transactions and Rising Demand in DeFi

Solana has been another standout in the DeFi crypto space with its efficient transaction speed and appeal within the meme coin community. The Solana price surged past $200, fueled by renewed market interest following Trump’s election victory. Investors have flocked to Solana not only for its utility in DeFi applications but also for its capability to support high-profile meme coins.

The MV Global Q4 2024 Crypto Investment Survey showed that 33% of fund managers predict Solana’s value could climb as high as $600 in the next bull run. This optimistic outlook for Solana positions it as a significant force in DeFi crypto, particularly as it advances its applications in Web3. With new ventures like the Solana Seeker Web3 smartphone, Solana continues to innovate in ways that attract both developers and investors alike.

Conclusion: Lunex Network – The Top Choice for DeFi Investments

While Polygon Labs and Solana have shown notable progress and strong market presence, Lunex Network stands out as a presale token with unique growth potential in DeFi crypto.

As the DeFi landscape continues to evolve, Lunex Network’s presale token provides a promising choice for those seeking the next big investment in DeFi crypto. For investors aiming to secure their spot in a promising project, Lunex Network’s accessible price and innovative approach to decentralized finance set it apart as one to watch in 2025.

The global chaga mushroom market is set to witness a remarkable growth trajectory, with revenue projected to surge from US$ 912.3 million in 2022 to US$ 1.89 billion by 2032, expanding at a value CAGR of 7.4%. The market’s growth is driven by increasing awareness of its medicinal benefits, rising demand for dietary supplements, and growing use in cosmetic and personal care products.

Request a sample report@ https://www.persistencemarketresearch.com/samples/33168

Market Overview

Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus), a parasitic fungus predominantly found on birch trees in colder climates, is gaining popularity due to its unique composition of natural substances like polyphenols and mycochemicals. Historically considered a superfood, its high antioxidant content and immune-boosting properties have made it a staple in dietary supplements, functional foods, beverages, and herbal medicines.

Key Drivers

Medicinal Properties and Health Benefits:

Chaga mushroom boasts bioactive compounds such as β-D-glucans, triterpenes, and antioxidants, which offer immune support, cardiovascular benefits, and anti-cancer properties. Its polysaccharides and betulinic acid are being studied for potential therapeutic applications, especially in cancer prevention and treatment.

According to WHO, cancer remains the second leading cause of mortality globally. Chaga’s bioactive components, including betulin and betulinic acid, show promise in combating cancer cells, driving its demand in healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

Rising Demand for Dietary Supplements:

Post-COVID-19, health-conscious consumers are increasingly turning to proactive healthcare solutions like nutraceuticals. Chaga mushrooms, rich in adaptogens, play a crucial role in balancing bodily systems and supporting immunity, gastrointestinal health, and cardiovascular functions.

Manufacturers are innovating with chaga-based products such as capsules and drink mixes. For instance, Aloha Medicinals offers chaga capsules containing 300 mg of polysaccharides per serving, catering to the growing demand for convenient health supplements.

Applications in Cosmetics and Personal Care:

The inclusion of chaga mushrooms in skincare formulations is gaining momentum. Rich in minerals like zinc and selenium and natural antioxidants like melanin, chaga offers anti-aging, anti-irritant, and protective benefits for the skin.

Companies like BASF have introduced innovative products such as Inolixir, a bioactive ingredient derived from chaga mushrooms, designed to enhance skin health and protection.

Market Restraints

Despite its numerous benefits, chaga mushrooms contain high levels of oxalates, which may pose health risks such as kidney stones and decreased calcium absorption, leading to bone health concerns. This factor could impede market growth, especially among consumers with pre-existing kidney or bone health issues.

Market Opportunities and Trends

Expanding Nutraceutical Applications:

Ongoing clinical trials and research into chaga’s bioactive compounds are expected to unlock new applications, particularly in functional foods and beverages.

Growth in Organic and Herbal Product Demand:

Consumers’ preference for organic and gut-friendly products aligns with the natural, chemical-free profile of chaga mushrooms.

Innovative Product Launches:

Companies are investing in developing premium chaga products for niche markets. From tea blends to fortified snacks, the versatility of chaga mushrooms is spurring innovation across industries.

Emerging Markets:

Regions like Asia-Pacific and North America are witnessing increased adoption due to heightened awareness of chaga’s medicinal properties.

Regional Insights

The global market is characterized by concentrated demand from key countries, with the top five markets accounting for nearly 49% of the global share in 2021.

North America: Increasing focus on holistic health and rising nutraceutical consumption are propelling market growth in this region.

Europe: Traditional use of chaga in folk medicine, combined with its integration into modern healthcare, supports strong demand.

Asia-Pacific: The region benefits from robust traditional medicine systems and expanding health supplement markets.

Future Projections

With the chaga mushroom market set to double in value by 2032, it is expected to become a vital component in health and wellness sectors. Manufacturers are likely to explore advanced extraction techniques, expanding product lines, and strengthening supply chains to meet growing consumer demand.

EUR/JPY Signal Today – 18/11: EUR Tests 200 EMA (Chart)

By |2024-11-19T10:20:45+02:00November 19, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

Potential signal:

I would be a buyer of this pair if we can recapture the ¥164 level. If we get above there, I would put a stop loss at the ¥163 level and aim for the ¥167 level.

  • Dear my daily analysis of the yen related pairs, it’s worth noting that the euro initially did try to rally, but then it plunged.
  • Because of this, we are now testing the 200 Day EMA, which of course is an important indicator that a lot of people will pay attention to for the longer-term, and therefore think you get a situation where if the buyers are going to return, it’s probably going to be fairly soon.
  • All things being equal, this is a fairly ugly candlestick, so it’ll be interesting to see if we can get some of that “mojo back” from the previous move higher.

All things being equal, this is a pair that continues to favor interest rate differentials for the euro, with this being the case, the market is likely to continue to see a lot of people getting involved, as they can get paid at the end of every day to hang on to this pair. Quite frankly, even though the euro itself isn’t necessarily a currency that I liked, it is going to probably fare better than the Japanese yen going forward.

Technical Analysis

The technical analysis for the EUR/JPY currency pair of course suggests that there is a lot of support in this area, as the ¥163 level is an area that we’ve seen a lot of action at previously. That being said, the market is likely to continue to see the area between they are in the ¥162 level as a major “squishy support level.” By doing so, the market is likely to continue to see a lot of value hunters out there trying to get involved, and therefore I think you’ve got a scenario where people will look for a value play to get long again.

If we were to break down below the ¥161 level, then it’s likely that the pair could drop down to the ¥158.50 level, which is an area that we have seen a lot of support at previously. That would be a target for short sellers, but at this point in time I think they will probably be repudiated long before we get to that area.

Solana memecoins drive dApp fees to new highs: Impact on SOL?

By |2024-11-19T10:13:28+02:00November 19, 2024|News, NFT News|0 Comments

  • Solana DApps featured prominently in the top fee rankings.
  • SOL has continued to trend upward.

The increased activity that Solana [SOL] memecoins are seeing recently has impacted the ecosystem.

Data showed that various decentralized applications (dApps) in the ecosystem have recently seen an increase in fees. Also, SOL has continued its positive moves.

Soalana memecoins push fees on DApps

Recent data from DefiLlama revealed a sharp rise in fees generated by Solana’s decentralized applications.

Raydium [RAY], a prominent dApp on the network, recorded over $69 million in fees over the past seven days, making it the second-highest earner behind Tether [USDT].

Solana itself secured the third spot with over $49 million in fees, while other DApps like Jito and Photon also ranked among the top ten.

Notably, Pump.fun, a platform hosting many trending Solana memecoins, claimed 11th place in fee generation.

This increase aligns with the popularity of tokens such as Peanut the Squirrel [PNUT] and Goatseus Maximus [GOAT], leading the memecoin activity on Solana.

At press time, PNUT boasted a market capitalization of over $1.6 billion, while GOAT’s market cap stood at $1.1 billion.

Both tokens have experienced significant growth in trading volume over the past 24 hours, signaling heightened user engagement and transaction activity within the ecosystem.

Market cap of Solana memecoins surge

The market cap of Solana memecoins has seen notable growth, with an increase of over 10% in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to more than $21.8 billion, according to CoinGecko.

dogwifhat [WIF] led the pack with a market cap of over $3.7 billion, followed by Bonk [BONK] at $2.8 billion, and PNUT in third place.

These tokens have not only dominated the memecoin space but have also recorded an uptick in trading volumes, reflecting increased user interest and activity.

The rising transaction volumes have contributed to the observed spike in fees across Solana’s ecosystem, further emphasizing the impact of memecoins on the network.

SOL maintains strong upward momentum

Solana’s native token, SOL, continued its bullish rally, climbing 4.48% to trade at $248.16 at press time.

The daily chart highlighted SOL breaking through key resistance levels, supported by a surge in trading volumes exceeding 515,000.

Technical indicators affirmed the upward momentum.

The MACD showed sustained bullish pressure, while the RSI remained elevated at 76.77, signaling an overbought condition but reinforcing the positive market sentiment.

As the memecoin trend drives activity across the Solana ecosystem, SOL appears well-positioned for further gains, backed by increased transaction volumes and network growth.

The combined impact of memecoins and bullish market conditions has solidified Solana’s uptrend.

XAG/USD rises to near $31.50 amid softer US Dollar

By |2024-11-19T09:58:17+02:00November 19, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • Silver prices advance as dollar-denominated metals become more affordable, supported by a weaker US Dollar.
  • The grey metal finds support from safe-haven inflows as tensions in the Russia-Ukraine conflict escalate.
  • Non-interest-bearing assets encountered headwinds after Fed Chair Jerome Powell dampened expectations of imminent rate cuts.

Silver price (XAG/USD) continues to gain ground for the second consecutive day, trading around $31.40 per troy ounce during the Asian session on Tuesday. The prices of the dollar-denominated Silver recover from two-month lows as the US Dollar (USD) experiences profit-taking selling after a recent rally. This rally was fueled by expectations of fewer Federal Reserve (Fed) rate cuts and optimism about US economic outperformance under the incoming Trump administration.

Meanwhile, safe-haven Silver is gaining traction amid rising geopolitical tensions. US President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use US-made weapons for strikes deep within Russia, a move that escalated concerns in the region. In response, the Kremlin issued a warning on Monday, vowing to retaliate against what it called a reckless decision by the Biden administration. Russia had earlier cautioned that such actions could significantly increase the risk of confrontation with NATO.

Non-yielding assets like Silver faced headwinds after Fed Chair Jerome Powell tempered expectations of immediate rate cuts. Powell emphasized the economy’s strength, a robust labor market, and ongoing inflationary pressures. He stated, “The economy is not sending any signals that we need to be in a hurry to lower rates.” Investors now await additional remarks from Fed officials this week for further insight into the trajectory of US interest rates.

Markets are closely monitoring China’s upcoming Loan Prime Rate (LPR) decision, anticipating potential additional stimulus measures to support economic growth. This follows the recent 10 trillion Yuan debt package, which did not include direct economic stimulus, heightening market concerns. As one of the world’s largest manufacturing hubs for electronics, solar panels, and automotive components, China’s industrial demand for Silver remains a key factor influencing its prices.

Silver FAQs

Silver is a precious metal highly traded among investors. It has been historically used as a store of value and a medium of exchange. Although less popular than Gold, traders may turn to Silver to diversify their investment portfolio, for its intrinsic value or as a potential hedge during high-inflation periods. Investors can buy physical Silver, in coins or in bars, or trade it through vehicles such as Exchange Traded Funds, which track its price on international markets.

Silver prices can move due to a wide range of factors. Geopolitical instability or fears of a deep recession can make Silver price escalate due to its safe-haven status, although to a lesser extent than Gold’s. As a yieldless asset, Silver tends to rise with lower interest rates. Its moves also depend on how the US Dollar (USD) behaves as the asset is priced in dollars (XAG/USD). A strong Dollar tends to keep the price of Silver at bay, whereas a weaker Dollar is likely to propel prices up. Other factors such as investment demand, mining supply – Silver is much more abundant than Gold – and recycling rates can also affect prices.

Silver is widely used in industry, particularly in sectors such as electronics or solar energy, as it has one of the highest electric conductivity of all metals – more than Copper and Gold. A surge in demand can increase prices, while a decline tends to lower them. Dynamics in the US, Chinese and Indian economies can also contribute to price swings: for the US and particularly China, their big industrial sectors use Silver in various processes; in India, consumers’ demand for the precious metal for jewellery also plays a key role in setting prices.

Silver prices tend to follow Gold’s moves. When Gold prices rise, Silver typically follows suit, as their status as safe-haven assets is similar. The Gold/Silver ratio, which shows the number of ounces of Silver needed to equal the value of one ounce of Gold, may help to determine the relative valuation between both metals. Some investors may consider a high ratio as an indicator that Silver is undervalued, or Gold is overvalued. On the contrary, a low ratio might suggest that Gold is undervalued relative to Silver.

Are protein supplements bad for you? What the experts say

By |2024-11-19T08:37:12+02:00November 19, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

We’re all told, these days, that we don’t eat enough protein. Guidelines suggest the average man needs about 55 grams a day, 45 grams for women. Most of us do, in fact, get enough of it but that hasn’t stopped us turning to powders and bars to compensate.

Between 2018 and 2023 the protein bar market more than doubled to £122.6m. In 2022, the sales value of protein powder concentrates surpassed £463m. Three years prior, in 2019, one in five people reported consuming them once or more per week.

But are they good for us? We asked the experts if they eat them – and if not, what they replace them with.

‘I eat them three times a week but I’m careful of ingredients’

Nichola Ludlam-Raine, dietitian for 15 years and author of ‘How Not to Eat Ultra-Processed‘

Nichola Ludlam-Raine says protein snacks can be convenient

Ludlam-Raine eats protein bars or powders two to three times a week in her breakfast or on the go. When using oat milk, instead of cows or soya milk, in her morning porridge or smoothie, she adds a scoop of Huel protein powder for a protein boost. On busy days, she takes protein bars from FulFil or Grenade in her bag to snack on.

“They can be convenient and effective for supplementing a diet low in protein, particularly for those with higher needs like athletes, older adults, or people recovering from illness. They’re convenient, have set portions and a variety of flavours,” she tells i.

Although Ludlam-Raine puts them in the bracket of a ‘healthier UPF‘ she says they are still processed and some contain additional sugars and additives. She opts for brands with a shorter ingredient list as many have “fillers” and added sugar. “Some brands may use lower-quality protein sources or additives which can cause digestive discomfort, especially if they contain sugar alcohols.

“Look for products with simple, minimal ingredients and go for brands that use whey isolate, pea protein or casein.”

When it’s possible, she always recommends prioritising whole food protein sources first – such as Greek yoghurt or cottage cheese with berries and seeds for breakfast, or eggs. For lunch, she might have lentil or chickpea salad with grilled chicken or salmon followed by boiled eggs, nuts or edamame for a snack. Dinner options include tofu stir fry with quinoa or baked cod with sweet potato and broccoli.

‘They can fill nutritional gaps’

Shelley Balls, registered dietitian and owner of ‘Fuelling Your Lifestyle’

Dietitian Shelley Balls sometimes uses protein powders or bars to tide her over before her next meal, or to add protein to her diet if her meals have been lacking it. “I’m all for adding protein powder to a smoothie, or taking a protein bar with you on the go. They can be handy in some scenarios,” she says.

Relying on them too much could mean you’re missing out on other key nutrients though, she warns. “It isn’t uncommon to overdo it when it comes to protein supplements. Some people may skip breakfast that contains dietary fibre, protein and antioxidants because they think grabbing a protein bar is better for their health when in reality it could lead to nutritional deficits.”

As an alternative, Balls will sometimes swap a protein bar for other snacks like a peanut butter and jam sandwich, yoghurt parfait with berries and granola, 85g tuna with avocado or around 30g almonds.

‘I avoid them due to added sugar’

Lesley Kumar, nutrition consultant at Ringside 24 and registered dietitian

“Protein powders have potential risks such as added sugars, calories and possible contaminants. It’s better to get protein from whole foods,” advises Kumar.

In their place, she prefers a handful of plant proteins like nuts, seeds, soy and beans as they’re bioavailable – that is, more easily absorbed by the body. Animal proteins contain additional fibre and healthy fats – opt for lean turkey or chicken, fish or dairy sources like cottage cheese and milk.

‘I use protein supplements daily’

Chris Mohr, fitness and nutrition adviser at Fortune Recommends Health

Mohr has whey protein powder in his morning drink. “Any time I’m in a pinch I love a quick, on-the-go smoothie as a way to get in quality protein, fruit and some veggies. It’s a convenient way to get high-quality nutrition into the diet.

“For the average person there’s not a big difference in protein powders – some are higher quality than others – but overall choose a flavour you like and enjoy it when you want a quick meal,” he advises.

Forget protein bars, however – they’re often loaded with added sugars.

‘We should get protein from food first’

Helen Bond, registered dietitian with 28 years’ experience

Helen Bond Image via Helen Bond
Dietitian Helen Bond doesn’t use protein supplements herself

“As a dietician I always say that we should have a ‘food first’ approach because, in theory, we should be able to get all of the protein our body needs from eating a varied and balanced diet,” says Bond.

In basic terms proteins are made from a range of amino acids, none of which are essential, she says. Our bodies cannot these nine and they have to come from within our diet. Animal foods, such as chicken, fish and eggs and dairy are “complete proteins” as they have all the essential amino acids. “It’s easy to get all nine if we eat a variety of protein sources throughout the day.”

She recommends mixing them with plant-based protein foods like soya, oats, grains, nuts, seeds and lentils. They tend to be high in fibre which Bond says most of us lack, and they’re better for the environment.

She’s not against supplementing protein when it’s needed though. “If your diet is lacking and you’re not meeting your protein needs for whatever reason – your training, your older and appetite is poor of your diet isn’t balanced – they can be useful to fill nutritional gaps.”

‘The cons outweigh the pros’

Sue Baic, former NHS and private dietitian, now a freelance nutrition consultant

Like other experts, Baic says protein supplements can be convenient, especially for people who are active with a need for higher protein but getting protein in from food should come first as they often have the healthy fats and fibre we also need.

“They tend to be more expensive than getting protein from foods and some are just an expensive way of getting milk protein. Food sources of protein are relatively economical and tasty like yoghurt, tinned fish, beans, some nuts and lean turkey.”

Baic sometimes buys protein yoghurts but avoids bars and powders as her diet involved plenty of low fat dairy, lean meat and oily fish which gives her the protein she needs. She’s also found, when she has tasted them, that a high-protein meal is much more tasty than the same amount in a supplement or bar.

XAU/USD could run into sellers at $2,655 on the road to recovery

By |2024-11-19T07:57:30+02:00November 19, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • Gold price builds on the previous recovery above $2,600 early Tuesday.
  • Geopolitical risks and US Dollar pullback alongside Treasury bond yields power Gold price.
  • Gold price eyes 50-day SMA resistance at $2,655 as the daily RSI remains bearish.

Gold price extends the recovery into Asian trading on Tuesday, reversing half the previous week’s decline. The focus remains on the upcoming speeches from US Federal Reserve (Fed) policymakers and geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

Gold price gains on easing US Treasury bond yields

Gold price stays firm for the second consecutive day so far, drawing support from the recent retracement in the US Treasury bond yields across the curve, fuelling the corrective downside in the US Dollar (USD) against its major currency rivals.

The US bond yields have embarked upon a correction mode as investors remain wary of the impact of the potential fiscal and trade policies to be introduced by US President-elect Donald Trump on the economic and inflation outlook.

Additionally, Gold price capitalizes on the renewed geopolitical escalation between Russia and Ukraine after US President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use American Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) to strike inside Russia on Sunday. The decision to allow the use of long-range US weapons inside Russia came after Moscow deployed North Korean ground troops to supplement its own forces.

Moreover, expectations of more stimulus measures coming in from China also bode well for the bright metal. China is the world’s top Gold consumer. Securities Journal, Chinese state media, quoted analysts saying further cuts to the Reserve Requirement Ratio (RRR) coming this year.

Note that China is the world’s top Gold consumer, and any support measures by the local authorities to boost economic performance seem positive for the precious metal. However, it remains to be seen if Gold price manages to hold on to its recovery momentum as traders turn cautious, awaiting more cues on the Fed’s interest rate outlook from the central bank talks due Tuesday and later this week.

Also, traders could refrain from placing fresh bets on the yellow metal ahead of the American AI giant Nvidia Inc.’s earnings report, which could significantly impact the broader market sentiment and the value of the USD, eventually influencing the USD-sensitive Gold price.

Gold price technical analysis: Daily chart

Technically, Gold price appears to be a ‘sell on bounce’ trade as long as the 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains below the 50 level. The indicator is currently trading near 45.

The immediate resistance is seen at the $2,630 round number, above which a strong topside barrier aligns at the 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) at $2,655.

Acceptance above the latter is critical to sustaining the recovery mode from two-month troughs of $2,537.

The next stiff resistance is located at $2,687, the 21-day SMA.

Failing to find a foothold above the 50-day SMA on a daily closing basis could revive the bearish sentiment, reinforcing sellers toward the $2,600 threshold.

Additional declines could threaten the confluence support at $2,551, where the 100-day SMA coincides with the September 18 low.

A sustained break below the last will trigger a fresh downtrend toward the $2,500 threshold, with the next bearish target seen at the September 4 low of $2,472.

Gold FAQs

Gold has played a key role in human’s history as it has been widely used as a store of value and medium of exchange. Currently, apart from its shine and usage for jewelry, the precious metal is widely seen as a safe-haven asset, meaning that it is considered a good investment during turbulent times. Gold is also widely seen as a hedge against inflation and against depreciating currencies as it doesn’t rely on any specific issuer or government.

Central banks are the biggest Gold holders. In their aim to support their currencies in turbulent times, central banks tend to diversify their reserves and buy Gold to improve the perceived strength of the economy and the currency. High Gold reserves can be a source of trust for a country’s solvency. Central banks added 1,136 tonnes of Gold worth around $70 billion to their reserves in 2022, according to data from the World Gold Council. This is the highest yearly purchase since records began. Central banks from emerging economies such as China, India and Turkey are quickly increasing their Gold reserves.

Gold has an inverse correlation with the US Dollar and US Treasuries, which are both major reserve and safe-haven assets. When the Dollar depreciates, Gold tends to rise, enabling investors and central banks to diversify their assets in turbulent times. Gold is also inversely correlated with risk assets. A rally in the stock market tends to weaken Gold price, while sell-offs in riskier markets tend to favor the precious metal.

The price can move due to a wide range of factors. Geopolitical instability or fears of a deep recession can quickly make Gold price escalate due to its safe-haven status. As a yield-less asset, Gold tends to rise with lower interest rates, while higher cost of money usually weighs down on the yellow metal. Still, most moves depend on how the US Dollar (USD) behaves as the asset is priced in dollars (XAU/USD). A strong Dollar tends to keep the price of Gold controlled, whereas a weaker Dollar is likely to push Gold prices up.

Green tea kombucha could transform your gut and boost your weight-loss journey

By |2024-11-19T06:36:16+02:00November 19, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

New research reveals how green tea kombucha alleviates gut issues, enhances metabolic markers, and supports healthier weight loss—offering a delicious edge in dietary interventions.

In a recent randomized controlled trial published in the journal Foods, researchers investigated the effects of green tea kombucha (GTK) consumption on gut health, microbiota, and metabolism in individuals with excess body weight on an energy-restricted diet. They found that GTK consumption did not significantly affect gut microbiota or intestinal permeability but improved gastrointestinal symptoms and altered the serum metabolome by influencing specific metabolites linked to anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These findings suggest potential benefits for metabolic health in individuals with excess body weight.

Background

Fermented foods, like kombucha, have gained popularity for their potential health benefits, particularly in improving intestinal health, modulating microbiota, and combating metabolic imbalance.

Kombucha, made by fermenting sugar-containing green or black tea with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts, contains bioactive compounds such as phenolic acids, organic acids, and vitamins. Despite its growing consumption, the true effects of kombucha on human health, particularly in individuals with excess body weight, remain unclear. Overweight individuals often experience altered gut microbiota, lower diversity, and a weakened intestinal barrier, contributing to inflammation and metabolic disorders.

Studies in animal models suggest kombucha may reduce gut dysbiosis and improve intestinal health. However, no human studies prior to this have evaluated GTK’s role when combined with an energy-restricted diet in terms of both intestinal parameters and serum metabolomics. Therefore, researchers in the present study examined, for the first time, the effect of GTK on gastrointestinal symptoms, intestinal permeability, microbiota composition, and serum metabolites in individuals with excess body weight undergoing weight loss treatment.

About the study

Participants with excess body weight (body mass index ≥ 27 kg/m², body fat > 30% for women, > 25% for men) were randomly assigned to two groups: a control group (CG, n = 37) following an energy-restricted healthy diet and a kombucha group (KG, n = 38) receiving the same diet with an additional 200 mL/day of GTK over a 10-week period. Exclusion criteria were the presence of metabolic or chronic diseases, habitual use of supplements, or regular consumption of fermented foods or teas. The GTK was produced in-house, with each serving providing probiotics at 1 billion colony-forming units.

Participants’ usual physical activity patterns and dietary habits were maintained and monitored throughout. Questionnaires, anthropometry, biological sample collection, and metabolic tests were used to evaluate outcomes, quality of life, and gastrointestinal symptoms of patients.

Microbiota analysis was conducted to assess diversity, differential taxa trends such as increased Romboutsia and decreased Alistipes, and correlations with metabolites in the GTK group. The metabolome was studied using serum samples.

Results and discussion

Both the KG and CG groups experienced weight loss and improvements in body composition, although no significant differences were observed between them. The KG group also experienced a slight increase in daily fiber intake, but it was not found to be statistically significant.

In terms of quality of life, CG showed improvements in total score, physical function, and bodily pain, while the KG showed improvements in total score, general health, vitality, and emotional role, but no significant differences were noted between the groups.

Intestinal parameters, including zonulin (biomarker for impaired gut barrier function), lipopolysaccharide-binding protein, SCFAs, and fecal pH, did not show significant differences between groups after the intervention, except for the CG, which showed increased levels of lactulose/mannitol ratio, fecal pH, and zonulin. Both groups showed a decrease in butyric acid production, but no significant changes were observed in other SCFAs.

In terms of gastrointestinal symptoms, both groups reported reductions, but the KG showed more substantial improvements, especially in symptoms like hard stools and incomplete bowel evacuation. The KG also showed more significant changes in stool consistency, with an increase in type 4 stool.

Further, no significant differences were found between the groups at the genus level, though the KG had a trend of decreased Alistipes and increased Romboutsia counts. Alpha diversity increased in both groups, with a statistically significant higher Chao 1 index in the KG at the genus level compared to baseline.

Lastly, serum metabolomics identified 25 putative metabolites in the KG, predominantly related to amino acid and fatty acid metabolism, including diethyl malonate and taurine, with correlations observed between changes in microbiota and metabolites.

The study’s rigorous design strengthens it, but its relatively small sample size and insufficient biological samples limit it. The use of in-house GTK, while standardized, may also differ from commercial versions, which could influence generalizability.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the study showed that GTK improved gastrointestinal symptoms, particularly in promoting complete bowel emptying and alleviating hard stools, in individuals with excess body weight undergoing weight loss treatment. While it did not significantly modulate gut microbiota, trends in increased diversity and specific taxa shifts were observed, warranting further investigation in future trials. The CG showed worsening intestinal permeability and fecal pH, suggesting that kombucha might help prevent these negative effects.

Additionally, kombucha consumption affected the serum metabolome, with metabolites linked to metabolic, anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant pathways, potentially enhancing overall health in individuals with excess body weight.
