Can vitamin D supplementation help lower blood pressure? Tatjana Zlatkovic/Stocksy
  • Vitamin D supplements are linked to many health benefits, including decreasing the chance of heart disease, supporting immune function, and aiding weight loss.
  • New research suggests that calcium and vitamin D supplements may have a high blood pressure-lowering effect, particularly for older adults with overweight or obesity.
  • However, the study indicates that taking more than recommended and exceeding the daily dose of vitamin D does not create any additional benefits.

According to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, older adults ages 51–70 years are recommended 600 International Units (IU) or 15 mcg of vitamin D daily, while those ages 70 years and older are advised an intake of 800 IU or 20 mcg.

This study adds to the growing evidence of vitamin D’s many health benefits, particularly circulatory and metabolic health.

The study received financial support from the Fogarty International Center and Office of Dietary Supplements of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the American University of Beirut, Saint Joseph University, the Lebanese Council for National Scientific Research, the Mayo Clinic, and the Odense University Hospital.

In this double-blind, randomized controlled trial (RCT), researchers examined 221 adults ages 65 years or older who had BMIs over 25 and were considered as having overweight or obesity.

They also had a serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D level between 10 and 30 ng/mL, which indicates either “insufficient” vitamin D levels (below 30/mL) or vitamin D deficiency (below 20 ng/mL).

All participants were given 250mg of calcium citrate daily. For their vitamin D intake, they were divided into two groups: the “low dose group” took 600 IU/day along with placebo pills, and the “high dose group” took 3,750 IU/day. Researchers observed the participants for a year.

At the end of the study, the researchers found that vitamin D supplementation helped lower blood pressure.

Although there was no statistically significant difference between both groups, on average, the participants experienced a 3.5 mm Hg reduction in systolic blood pressure (SBP), and a modest 2.8 mm Hg reduction in diastolic blood pressure (DBP) after one year. Those in the high dose vitamin D group experienced a slightly greater reduction than those in the low dose vitamin D group.

The researchers also saw no extra benefit in participants taking a higher dose of vitamin D.

Out of all the participants, the researchers observed that the people with obesity and those with low vitamin D levels benefited the most from supplemental vitamin D.

Michelle Routhenstein, MS, RD, CDCES, CDN, Preventive Cardiology Dietitian and Heart Health Expert at EntirelyNourished.com, who was not involved in the study, said the study results weren’t surprising, given the roles of calcium and vitamin D in blood pressure regulation.

Routhenstein explained how vitamin D may affect blood pressure:

“Vitamin D is involved in regulating the renin-angiotensin system, which plays a key role in controlling blood pressure. When vitamin D levels are low, renin secretion tends to increase, which can raise blood pressure by activating this system.”

“Calcium was also provided, and it is known to support blood pressure regulation due to its effect on blood vessel function. By helping blood vessels relax and maintain proper tone, calcium can contribute to lower blood pressure,” she told Medical News Today.

One important finding from the study is that taking higher than recommended doses of vitamin D does not have any additional benefits in terms of cardiovascular health, according to this study.

Commenting on this, Routhenstein said:

“Many people assume that more is always better, but when it comes to nutrients, it’s about finding the right balance for your body, taking into account factors like your lab results, diet, and medical history. The goal is to get enough to meet your needs—not too little, but also not too much.”

She also cautioned against using vitamin D supplements for long periods and higher than necessary doses.

“For vitamin D, which is fat-soluble, taking high doses for long periods can lead to toxicity. That’s why it’s important to have your vitamin D levels checked to make sure you’re getting the right amount for your health,” she told MNT.

On the topic of choosing the right vitamin D supplements, Routhenstein underscored that not all supplements are created equal.

“[M]any contain oils that can become rancid when exposed to heat during storage or transport,” she said.

“Since vitamin D is fat-soluble, taking it with a meal that contains fat can enhance absorption and ensure it works more effectively,” she added.

The study has several limitations, particularly pertaining to its sample size, diversity, and baseline comorbidities.

The participants were primarily older adults (mean age of 71.1 years) with a high body mass index (mean BMI of 30.2). Moreover, only nine participants engaged in regular physical activity.

These may limit the generalizability of this study’s findings to other populations or age groups. The same can be said about the racial or ethnic diversity of the study participants, which may mean the findings are not applicable to larger, more diverse populations.

The participants also had a high prevalence of comorbidities, such as hypertension, with 48% of the participants being treated with anti-hypertensive medication. In addition, some started treatment after they entered the study. However, sensitive analyses showed that starting blood pressure medication did not change the study’s overall results. This may also impact the generalizability of these results to individuals without high blood pressure.

Expert Says Dogecoin Price Is Long Overdue For Rally To $1.5, ETFS To Reach $5, And XRP To Touch $10

By |2024-11-14T00:58:20+02:00November 14, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

A top market expert believes the Dogecoin price is long overdue for a rally to $1.5. Amid the brewing bullish momentum in the crypto market, investors also target XRP price for a run towards $10 and the new presale token ETFSwap (ETFS) to reach $5. The bullish expert predictions for these cryptocurrencies present an opportunity for profit, but investors are focusing on ETFSwap (ETFS) for its higher profit margin and low-risk presale entry.

ETFSwap (ETFS) Could Rise To $5 To Lead Other Market Prospects

The $5 projection for ETFSwap (ETFS) beat the Dogecoin and XRP price predictions, and investors are looking to capitalize on its prospect for the best market gains in the coming bull run. ETFSwap (ETFS) is a new Ethereum-based project that aims to provide a decentralized platform for trading and investing in tokenized ETFs.

The tokenized ETFs on the emerging DeFi platform will be backed by actual ETF securities bought from traditional markets. This enables the tokenized ETFs to maintain their real-world value while offering broader on-chain use cases. The new platform also aims to list ETF assets from various industries, including energy, engineering, healthcare, and more.

These diverse options allow for smoother portfolio diversification and asset conversion compared to centralized platforms. Users will be able to swap tokenized ETFs and cryptocurrencies, crossing between both markets with ease to take advantage of opportunities as they come. Also, the new ETF platform will allow users to collateralize their ETFs for liquidity, which can be used for other market opportunities.

Additionally, ETFSwap (ETFS) will offer impressive features, including faster ETF settlements, passive income from staking, 24/7 market coverage, zero-KYC trading, lower transaction costs, and more. ETFSwap (ETFS) eliminates the limitations around trading hours, conversions, KYC requirements, and many more that exist on centralized platforms.

ETFSwap (ETFS) is set for a beta launch following its launch on Testnet, and early investors are excited to try out its amazing features. Also, the ETFSwap (ETFS) has passed the KYC audit by SolidProof, verifying the legitimacy of the project. With these crucial processes done, investors look for the best market gains possible.

Dogecoin Price Predicted To Reach $1.5 Amid Broader Bullish Market

The Dogecoin price has seen positive movement over the past month as the meme coin now attempts to break resistance above $0.2. Expert predictions target a Dogecoin price surge to $1.5, which presents about an 8x opportunity from its current price. The Dogecoin price is attempting to surpass its $0.2288 yearly high following a Donald Trump victory in the US election.

Expert insights suggest that a Trump win is viewed positively by the crypto landscape, and investors are particularly hyped for a Dogecoin price run after Elon Musk’s proposal of a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The Dogecoin price as of this writing is $0.1941, gaining over 80% in the past month. Expert analysis suggests that the Dogecoin price could be set for a $1.5 all-time high ahead amid bullish market conditions.

XRP Price Predicted To Rise To $10 Following Trump Victory

Crypto enthusiasts express excitement over a possible XRP price rally following a Trump win. Donald Trump had previously stated during his campaign that he would fire SEC chair Gary Gensler on his first day in office. While this may not mean the end of the Ripple case, expert insights suggest that the XRP price may react positively to this news.

XRP price as of this writing is $0.5504, already teasing a bullish breakout as Trump took the early lead in the US elections. The XRP price has broken out of a month-long consolidation since the SEC filed appeal documents against the final court ruling in the Ripple – SEC case. Expert analysis suggests XRP could launch a rally towards $10 in the long run amid positive expectations from the new US administration.

Conclusion

A potential rally to $5 for ETFSwap (ETFS) presents an opportunity for about 100x profits from its current presale price of $0.05769. The new presale coin is set to outperform the expert Dogecoin or XRP price predictions, especially amid the brewing narratives around ETFs and real-world assets.

Having concluded its presale rounds, ETFSwap (ETFS) opened a bonus presale round at $0.05769 per token, offering a final opportunity to investors who missed their chance. Don’t miss out on this cheap opportunity for life-changing profits.

XAG/USD dips below 100-day SMA, eyes on $30.00

By |2024-11-14T00:48:29+02:00November 14, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • Silver struggles near 100-day SMA, with downside potential towards $30.00 and lower supports.
  • Technical outlook suggests further weakness, with a key support at $30.18 and the 200-day SMA at $28.63 in focus.
  • Recovery above $31.00 could challenge resistance at the 50-day SMA and extend towards $32.00.

Silver price drops below $30.50 for the second consecutive session, prints losses of over 0.90% following a tempered US inflation report. The US CPI came as expected, though he hinted that disinflation has stalled. The XAG/USD trades at $30.40, set to end the session lower.

XAG/USD Price Forecast: Technical outlook

Silver price consolidated during the last two days at around the 100-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) at $30.31. However, the mid-term bias is tilted to the downside, and once bears push prices below August’s 26 high turned support at $30.18, they will test the psychological $30.00 mark. A breach of the latter will expose the 200-day SMA at $28.63, followed by the September 6 swing low of $27.69.

If Silver moves back above $31.00, this could pave the way for challenging the 50-day SMA at $31.51. Once surpassed, XAG/USD’s next resistance would be $32.00.

Oscillators like the Relative Strength Index (RSI) hint that further XAG/USD’s downside is seen, as RSI remains shy of being oversold.

Silver FAQs

Silver is a precious metal highly traded among investors. It has been historically used as a store of value and a medium of exchange. Although less popular than Gold, traders may turn to Silver to diversify their investment portfolio, for its intrinsic value or as a potential hedge during high-inflation periods. Investors can buy physical Silver, in coins or in bars, or trade it through vehicles such as Exchange Traded Funds, which track its price on international markets.

Silver prices can move due to a wide range of factors. Geopolitical instability or fears of a deep recession can make Silver price escalate due to its safe-haven status, although to a lesser extent than Gold’s. As a yieldless asset, Silver tends to rise with lower interest rates. Its moves also depend on how the US Dollar (USD) behaves as the asset is priced in dollars (XAG/USD). A strong Dollar tends to keep the price of Silver at bay, whereas a weaker Dollar is likely to propel prices up. Other factors such as investment demand, mining supply – Silver is much more abundant than Gold – and recycling rates can also affect prices.

Silver is widely used in industry, particularly in sectors such as electronics or solar energy, as it has one of the highest electric conductivity of all metals – more than Copper and Gold. A surge in demand can increase prices, while a decline tends to lower them. Dynamics in the US, Chinese and Indian economies can also contribute to price swings: for the US and particularly China, their big industrial sectors use Silver in various processes; in India, consumers’ demand for the precious metal for jewellery also plays a key role in setting prices.

Silver prices tend to follow Gold’s moves. When Gold prices rise, Silver typically follows suit, as their status as safe-haven assets is similar. The Gold/Silver ratio, which shows the number of ounces of Silver needed to equal the value of one ounce of Gold, may help to determine the relative valuation between both metals. Some investors may consider a high ratio as an indicator that Silver is undervalued, or Gold is overvalued. On the contrary, a low ratio might suggest that Gold is undervalued relative to Silver.

Opinion: Rules on supplements likely to loosen under Trump | News

By |2024-11-13T23:27:09+02:00November 13, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

November 13, 2024 – Federal oversight of dangerous dietary supplements will likely be eroded under a new Trump administration, according to experts affiliated with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Bryn Austin, professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences and director of the Strategic Training Initiative for the Prevention of Eating Disorders (STRIPED), and Amanda Raffoul, assistant professor in nutritional sciences at the University of Toronto and affiliated faculty with STRIPED, outlined their concerns in a Nov. 11 First Opinion piece in STAT.

They noted that, prior to the election, Trump said he’d let Robert F. Kennedy Jr. “go wild” on federal health agencies. RFK Jr. has spoken out against vaccines and claimed on the X platform that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is trying to suppress various supplements. But Austin and Raffoul said that research has made clear that dietary supplements—particularly those that falsely claim they’ll promote weight loss or build muscles—can lead to problems such as liver damage and eating disorders.

“In the absence of meaningful regulation from the FDA, the supplement industry will no doubt take Kennedy’s stance as a free pass to relentlessly promote its deceptive and predatory products,” the co-authors wrote.

Austin and Raffoul voiced hope that individual states would pass legislation to protect people—particularly children—from harmful supplements, as New York did last spring.

Noting that the supplements industry is “wealthy and ruthless,” the co-authors said that it’s important for people to be aware of the industry’s tactics, such as pushing pseudoscience, deliberately blurring facts, and undermining scientists who challenge industry—including scientists at STRIPED.

Wrote Austin and Raffoul, “It’s incumbent on all of us to … be prepared to push back to protect our children’s health.”

Why BTC could decline in the upcoming days?

By |2024-11-13T22:57:08+02:00November 13, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Bitcoin price today: $87,600

  • Bitcoin trades in red on Wednesday, extending losses after reaching a new all-time high of $89,940 on Tuesday.
  • Technical indicators suggest the ongoing rally in BTC is overstretched and a corrective pullback could occur.
  • BTC’s Miner Position Index reaches a yearly high, signaling miners booking profits and increasing the selling pressure.

Bitcoin (BTC) price extends its decline for a second consecutive day on Wednesday, trading slightly down at around $87,600 after a 30% surge since November 5 pushed BTC to a new all-time high at $89,940. Technical indicators suggest the rally is overstretched, with a potential corrective pullback ahead. Additionally, BTC’s Miner Position Index supports this pullback as it reached a yearly high on Tuesday, signaling miners booking profits and increasing the selling pressure.

Bitcoin dips as miners sell-off weigh

Bitcoin’s recent surge to a new all-time of $89,940 on Tuesday has prompted many investors to take profit, with miners notably contributing to the selling pressure.

The Miner Position Index (MPI) allows the tracking of miners movements. MPI measures the amount of Bitcoin flowing out of miners’ wallets relative to the annual average. A high MPI indicates that miners are withdrawing more Bitcoin than usual. When MPI spikes to extreme levels, forming a peak as seen on the graph below, it often signals that Bitcoin’s price may be approaching a cycle top or ready for a dip.

On Tuesday, the metric spiked to 3.56, marking its yearly high. Historical data reveals that when the MPI reached a similar level of 3.87 on November 10, 2023, Bitcoin dropped over 6% within the next four days. If history repeats, BTC could see a similar price movement.

Despite miners’ recent sell-off, the spot Bitcoin Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) launched in January has attracted institutional investors, who have been actively buying BTC ETFs. Continued inflows into BTC ETFs could provide some cushion for price dips. On Tuesday, as Bitcoin dipped, US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw an inflow of $801.70 million, driven largely by BlackRock’s IBIT fund, which contributed $762.50 million, according to Coinglass ETF data.

“Since the election, gold has declined by 5% while Bitcoin has surged by 30%, signaling a shift as Bitcoin gains traction as “digital gold.” This movement appears increasingly structural, with capital reallocating from traditional safe havens like gold into BTC.”, says QCP Capital’s report.

The report continued, “If even 1% of capital from gold were to flow into BTC, it could propel Bitcoin to around $97k, highlighting the potential upside as this narrative continues to solidify. With BTC just below the critical $90k level, the end-November basis has surged to over 18%, accompanied by strong interest in far-out calls at 110k and 120k strikes. This trend points to heightened demand for margin and leverage as investors position for further breakout potential.”

Bitcoin Price Forecast: BTC bulls show signs of exhaustion

Bitcoin price reached a new all-time of $89,940 on Tuesday after rallying for seven consecutive days, suggesting the rally may be overstretched. At the time of writing on Wednesday, it trades slightly down around $87,600.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) momentum indicator stands at 80 on the daily chart, well above its overbought level of 70, and points downwards, signaling bullish exhaustion and increasing risk of a correction. Traders should exercise caution when adding to their long positions, as a move out of the overbought territory by the RSI could provide a clear sign of a pullback.

If the ongoing decline continues, BTC’s price could find initial support at $78,807, the 141.40% Fibonacci extension level drawn from July’s high of $70,079 to August’s low of $49,000.

Conversely, if the bulls continue to stretch higher, the rally could extend to retest the 241.40% Fibonacci extension at $99,887.

Bitcoin, altcoins, stablecoins FAQs

Bitcoin is the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, a virtual currency designed to serve as money. This form of payment cannot be controlled by any one person, group, or entity, which eliminates the need for third-party participation during financial transactions.

Altcoins are any cryptocurrency apart from Bitcoin, but some also regard Ethereum as a non-altcoin because it is from these two cryptocurrencies that forking happens. If this is true, then Litecoin is the first altcoin, forked from the Bitcoin protocol and, therefore, an “improved” version of it.

Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to have a stable price, with their value backed by a reserve of the asset it represents. To achieve this, the value of any one stablecoin is pegged to a commodity or financial instrument, such as the US Dollar (USD), with its supply regulated by an algorithm or demand. The main goal of stablecoins is to provide an on/off-ramp for investors willing to trade and invest in cryptocurrencies. Stablecoins also allow investors to store value since cryptocurrencies, in general, are subject to volatility.

Bitcoin dominance is the ratio of Bitcoin’s market capitalization to the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies combined. It provides a clear picture of Bitcoin’s interest among investors. A high BTC dominance typically happens before and during a bull run, in which investors resort to investing in relatively stable and high market capitalization cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. A drop in BTC dominance usually means that investors are moving their capital and/or profits to altcoins in a quest for higher returns, which usually triggers an explosion of altcoin rallies.

Bladder Cancer and Black Women

By |2024-11-13T22:54:23+02:00November 13, 2024|Fitness News, News|0 Comments

Monica Austin-Cox remembers well the day a routine pelvic exam changed her life forever.

Her gynecologist felt a lump that was initially believed to be related to Austin-Cox’s ovaries. But further testing revealed it was actually a mass in her bladder.

She was quickly referred to a urologist, who performed a cystoscopy, a procedure that involves examining the inside of the bladder with a camera. The results confirmed her worst fears — Austin-Cox had bladder cancer.

The news was shocking: “I had never heard of bladder cancer,” said Austin-Cox, who was 30 at the time of her diagnosis and had never been a cigarette smoker but had been exposed to secondhand smoke much of her life. “The signs and symptoms, like blood in the urine, were things I had experienced, but I had attributed it to the repeated urinary tract infections (UTIs) I’d been getting. I’d always taken the antibiotics prescribed by my doctor and they would just go away. So, I thought nothing much of it.”

Read: Living with Bladder Cancer >>

Her cancer was quickly diagnosed as stage 1, non-muscle invasive, an aggressive form of cancer that required close monitoring and repeated treatments. Over the next four years, Austin-Cox found herself in a nightmarish medical battle that included having surgery to remove the mass in her bladder and follow-up cystoscopies every three months. Each time, she’d learn that the cancer had returned.

“There was constant anxiety of wondering if the cancer would come back,” she recalled of the all-too-brief periods in between her checkups. “It was overwhelming.”

How bladder cancer differs for Black women

Adding to Austin-Cox’s anguish, she found little in terms of support groups and resources available for women battling bladder cancer, especially for Black women like her, near where she lived in North Chesterfield, Virginia. And she wasn’t able to find much information on the internet about how women experience the disease either. “It’s not just ‘a white man’s disease,’” she said, referring to a widespread myth. “Black women get bladder cancer too and we deserve the support and resources we need to fight this horrible disease.”

Men are more likely to develop bladder cancer than women and white people are about twice as likely to develop bladder cancer as Black and Hispanic people. However, a growing body of research confirms that Black women are battling the disease more and more, and they are often being diagnosed at later stages, facing poorer outcomes as a result.

Studies have also found:

  • Compared to white women, Black women make up a larger percentage of bladder cancer incidence and face disparities in treatment, regardless of insurance status, education, the presence of other health conditions at diagnosis or the stage when the disease is found.

Houston researcher Heather Honoré Goltz, Ph.D., an expert in cancer survivorship and disparities, a licensed clinical social worker, and a professor of social work at the University of Houston-Downtown, said women are often misdiagnosed, partly due to symptoms like frequent urination or blood in the urine being mistaken for menopause or UTIs, like Austin-Cox experienced. According to Goltz, Black women often face elevated risks for the disease related to exposure to harmful chemicals in certain professions, such as exposure to hair dyes while working as a hairdresser, environmental toxins where they live and the long-term effects of smoking, a leading cause of bladder cancer.

“Like your liver, the job of your kidneys is to filter harmful toxins from your bloodstream and move them into your bladder,” explained Goltz. “That’s why being exposed to certain chemicals may increase a person’s risk for bladder cancer.”

She attributes the poorer outcomes Black women with bladder cancer face to long-standing issues of bias within the healthcare industry. “A significant problem is the way healthcare systems interact with women, particularly Black women,” said Goltz, noting that studies show that even with health insurance, private and public, Black patients tend to receive lower quality of care compared to their white counterparts.

“There’s an assumption that if you have access to quality care, that you’re going to receive the gold standard of care, but that’s not always true. What we’re finding is that a large percentage of Black patients, and particularly Black women, aren’t getting the highest standard of care.”

Steps Black women with bladder cancer can take for a better prognosis

Self-advocacy is vital in detecting and diagnosing bladder cancer in the earlier stages, when it’s more treatable.

“Be vigilant about any changes you’re experiencing in your body and any concerning symptoms, such as painful urination or frequent urination,” Goltz said. “Don’t automatically dismiss it as related to aging or menopause. Discuss your symptoms with your primary care doctor and request follow-up testing or even a referral to a urologist to be sure.”

Austin-Cox can relate to the quality of care concerns Goltz raised. Early in her diagnosis, she felt dismissed and neglected by her urologist, including receiving repeated requests from his office to reschedule follow-up exams, despite the severity of her case.

“The nurse would call and say, ‘He’s not going to be able to see you this week, would you like to reschedule?’” And I was like, ‘No, because the cancer keeps coming back,’” she recalled.

Frustrated, she eventually took control of her healthcare and sought a new urologist who provided more attentive care and initiated a more aggressive treatment, marking a turning point in her treatment. “Never be afraid to advocate for yourself,” she said.

Five years after her diagnosis, Austin-Cox was declared cancer-free. Now she visits with her urologist annually to check for any signs of the disease.

As for the lack of support and resources available for women battling bladder cancer, Austin-Cox, now 50, said that has improved slightly in the two decades since her diagnosis, but there’s still a great need today. She is grateful for a supportive husband, family and friends who helped her through her cancer journey. To this day, she pays it forward to others by volunteering and participating in advocacy efforts with the Bethesda, Maryland–based, Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN).

Added Austin-Cox, “We all have to do our part to raise awareness about the fact that women do get bladder cancer — and our lives matter too.”

USD/JPY Forecast Today 13/11: Eyes 155 Breakout (Video)

By |2024-11-13T20:58:21+02:00November 13, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • As you can see, the US dollar has rallied again against the Japanese yen as we continue to see a lot of upward pressure in general.
  • That being said, the 155 yen level is an area that a lot of people would be paying close attention to as it is a large round psychologically significant figure and an area that should cause a little bit of noise.
  • If we can get above there, then we can really take off to the upside, perhaps to the 158 level. If we pull back from here, I think there are plenty of buyers underneath willing to get involved.

I think you have to keep in mind that the 152.50 yen level then becomes something that could be crucial as well. So, with all of this being said, I do think that we either see a move to the upside, or we see a pullback that offers value that traders should be willing to take advantage of. Keep in mind that the interest rate differential continues to favor the US dollar, and it will for the foreseeable future.

Do Not Fight the Trend

So, I just don’t see any reason why you would fight the trend. Underneath, we have the 150 yen level offering a floor in the market, especially now that the 50 day EMA and the 200 day EMA indicators both are sitting right there and they are crossing, forming the so-called Golden Cross. Either way, I think this is a market that continues to go higher over the longer term and short-term pullbacks, like I said, should end up being thought of as opportunities to pick up cheap US dollars. This will more likely than not continue to be the case, so at this point in time I think it’s only a matter of time before we break out and go much higher. All things being equal, I have no interest in shorting this USD/JPY pair anytime soon, as there are so many reasons for it to go higher.
