Oil Price Today (November 6): Crude oil nears $100 again as fresh attacks dent peace talk hopes. What are experts saying?
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Iran could not take any action on its nuclear programme without Washington’s approval. He also said he would have to decide whether the US should launch further action against Tehran or accept the current situation.

Crude oil price on November 6
Brent crude traded 0.87 cents or .089% higher at $99.20 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate rose 0.6% to above $91 levels. Brent crude settled $3.67 higher in the previous session, gaining 3.88% to $98.29 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose $2.40, or 2.72%, to close at $90.52 per barrel.
Trump’s comments came a day after both crude benchmarks plunged more than 8% to settle at their lowest levels since August 31.
Attacks on tankers in the Gulf have continued at a pace close to record levels, with at least five vessels reporting incidents since Sunday, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The frequency of attacks was similar to October, when 35 vessels were hit, the highest monthly tally since the war began.
The conflict, launched by US President Donald Trump and Israel against Iran in February, sent fuel prices sharply higher, becoming a major grievance among American voters. Trump’s Republican Party suffered a major setback in Tuesday’s midterm elections, with Democrats winning control of both houses of the US Congress. The newly elected Democratic-controlled Congress will take office in January.Despite the recent decline in crude prices, any further escalation in the conflict could push Brent crude into the $110-125 per barrel range, Reuters cited Eurasia Group.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi discussed the latest progress in diplomatic efforts to promote regional stability during separate telephone conversations with his Saudi and Qatari counterparts, according to the Iranian foreign ministry.
However, significant differences remain between Tehran and Washington. Iran wants the US to lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports, ease sanctions and release frozen assets before it fully reopens the Strait of Hormuz.
Tensions have also spread to another front of the conflict, with Saudi Arabia issuing alerts on Thursday about potential threats to Yanbu, its Red Sea oil export hub. The warnings came as Yemen’s Iran-aligned
Houthis continued their attacks on the kingdom. The Houthis later claimed to have targeted King Fahd airport in the Saudi city of Dammam, although Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the attack.
Goldman Sachs has raised its oil price forecasts, citing increasing risks to global supplies. The investment bank warned that Brent crude could climb to $140 per barrel in 2027 if oil production across the Gulf region remains significantly below its 2025 average.
Where are prices headed?
The bank raised its December Brent crude forecast to $105 per barrel from $90 earlier. Its forecast for US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was also increased to $94 per barrel from $81.
In an upside scenario, Brent crude could reach $140 per barrel and average around $130 in 2027 if Gulf oil production remains 3.5 million barrels per day below its 2025 average, Reuters reported, citing Goldman Sachs’ projections.
Goldman Sachs expects oil markets to incorporate a higher geopolitical risk premium, given the possibility of disruptions to Middle Eastern supplies, the historical duration of major supply shocks and the challenges involved in securing a lasting diplomatic breakthrough.
Meanwhile, uncertainty surrounding the course of the conflict continues to make the oil price outlook difficult to assess. JPMorgan analysts said predicting how the war would unfold remained challenging. At the beginning of the conflict, the bank had expected the US administration to avoid crossing certain economic thresholds. However, seven months into the war, several of those thresholds had been breached, with no clear strategy emerging to bring the conflict to an end.
