GBP/USD Alert: Pound Rallies vs Dollar as Mexico Secures 1-Montb Tariff Delay

By |2025-02-03T20:19:17+02:00February 3, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

February 3, 2025 – Written by David Woodsmith

BREAKING: The Pound to Dollar exchange rate (GBP) jumped to 1.2420 from around 1.2330 at the US open. Risk appetite recovered strongly after Monday’s opening following reports that President Trump’s 25% tariffs on Mexico had been delayed by 1 month.

The dollar also pared gains against European currencies amid hopes that bilateral negotiations could lead to further concessions.

The Pound to Euro (GBP/EUR) exchange rate held firm around 1.2030.

The move followed a conference call between Trump and Mexican President Sheinbaum.

Volatility will inevitably remain high with risk vulnerable again if Canada adopts a hardline stance and fails to secure a reprieve.

According to sources, Mexico wanted the tariffs dropped entirely, but Trump would only agree on a 1-month postponement.

Inevitably, the US Administration will look to force more concessions from Mexico.

The immediate relief sparked hopes for a delay to tariffs on Canada and helped trigger a rebound in risk appetite, with equities paring losses.

The Canadian dollar rebounded strongly with USD/CAD at 1.4575 from 21-year highs near 1.4800.

Scotiabank commented, “The weekend advance has left a gap on the intraday chart between 1.4550/00, which markets may have to try and fill before the USD’s broader advance resumes.”

The Euro also rallied, although the threat of tariffs will loom large as a negotiating tactic.

11 Supplements To Help You Get Your Best Night’s Sleep

By |2025-02-03T20:17:59+02:00February 3, 2025|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

Persistent sleep struggles, especially due to insomnia, can be a major disruption to your life. You may notice a negative impact on your mood, energy levels, and focus.

While therapy and medication can help, some supplements can serve as more natural remedies to a disrupted sleep schedule.

Supplements like melatonin, valerian root, and magnesium may be good options to try before seeking medical attention.

Melatonin is a hormone that regulates circadian rhythms, the sleep-wake cycle that helps you wake up and fall asleep. When it gets dark, your brain makes more melatonin, which tells your body to sleep. When it’s light out, your brain decreases melatonin production, telling your body to be awake.

Taking melatonin supplements can increase your body’s production of melatonin. The supplement seems to work best for people who have trouble falling asleep and people with sleep-wake disorders (e.g., people who are blind). Melatonin may also help with insomnia and jet lag, but only as a short-term treatment option.

In adults, melatonin is safe in doses of up to 8 milligrams for up to six months. In children, melatonin is often used in doses of 3 milligrams daily for up to three months. If you decide to take melatonin, it’s best if you take it 1-2 hours before bedtime.

Side effects of melatonin include headache, dizziness, increased need to pee, sleepiness, and nausea.

Valerian root is an herb from the valerian plant (Valeriana officinalis). Researchers believe valerian helps you sleep by increasing your brain’s levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter. GABA slows down brain activity, helping you relax and fall asleep.

Some studies say valerian root supplements are helpful for sleep, while others don’t find many benefits. More studies are needed to understand how useful valerian is for sleep.

Side effects reported with valerian include headache, dizziness, skin rash, and nausea. If you decide to take valerian, you should take it one hour before bedtime. If you have insomnia, the dosing typically ranges from 300-600 milligrams.

Doses above 600 milligrams may cause drowsiness the following morning. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take valerian.

Small studies show that tart cherry juice may improve sleep and reduce insomnia. It contains melatonin and helps with inflammation, which may support sleep regulation. Tart cherry juice can be combined with other supplements that help induce sleep, like magnesium or melatonin.

A recommended daily dose of tart cherry juice is 240-480 milliliters. If you decide to try it, you should take it 1-2 hours before bedtime. Potential side effects of tart cherry juice and supplements include stomach pain and diarrhea.

Magnesium is a mineral necessary for energy and protein production. It may also help promote sleep health, normalizing the circadian rhythm and quality of sleep.

Data is mixed on whether magnesium is helpful for sleep. Some studies report an association between taking a lot of magnesium and better sleep quality, while others do not report a benefit. More well-designed studies are needed to evaluate how magnesium affects sleep quality.

Research suggests magnesium supplement doses above 500 milligrams per day for more than eight weeks can improve sleep time and quality. Common side effects reported with magnesium include diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain.

Tryptophan is an amino acid found in various foods and available as a supplement. When your body absorbs it, it turns into serotonin, which helps you feel tired and calm.

Tryptophan doses of 1 gram or higher may help improve insomnia and help you fall asleep faster. If you decide to try it, you should take it 20 minutes to one hour before bedtime. Side effects reported with tryptophan include diarrhea, dry mouth, gas, headache, and nausea.

L-theanine is an amino acid found in tea leaves, specifically green tea. It increases GABA in your brain, which can help relieve anxiety, stress, and insomnia symptoms.

L-theanine is typically taken in doses of 200-400 milligrams daily for 4-8 weeks. Side effects reported with L-theanine include drowsiness and headache.

Glycine is an amino acid important for brain and nervous system health. It relaxes blood vessels and lowers body temperature. Glycine also increases the release of serotonin, leading to further relaxation.

Glycine is found in high-protein foods and supplements.

Research shows glycine doses of 3 grams daily before bedtime can help with sleep quality and improve daytime fatigue. Doses up to 6 grams for four weeks are considered safe. Side effects associated with glycine include nausea, vomiting, headache, and stomach discomfort.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is the active ingredient found in cannabis. CBD does not cause a “high” and may be helpful for many health conditions, including anxiety, seizures, and pain.

It is unclear how CBD helps you sleep. One small study in adults found that CBD improved anxiety and sleep symptoms after one month of use. More studies are needed to understand if CBD is useful for insomnia.

CBD products are available as food, oils, lotions, capsules, and cosmetics. There is no standard CBD dose for insomnia, though studies have considered doses up to 1,500 milligrams a day safe.

Potential side effects include liver damage, drowsiness, diarrhea, nausea, and decreased appetite. CBD is not recommended for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Some states still consider CBD a controlled substance, while it is available over-the-counter (OTC) in others.

Lavender is an evergreen plant popular in bath products, perfumes, and decorations. Inhaling lavender oil (aromatherapy) or applying it to the skin may improve insomnia symptoms.

Lavender aromatherapy has been tested in various populations and for several diseases. Overall, it seems to be safe and helpful for sleep.

One study tested lavender oil’s effect on sleep and vital signs in people in a palliative care facility. Researchers found that lavender did not affect the participant’s vital signs but did positively affect their sleep quality.

Another study in postmenopausal women with insomnia found that lavender oil improved sleep patterns and sleep quality.

Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) is a traditional herb believed to help with anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), opioid withdrawal, and menopause symptoms. The herb may also be useful in sleep and insomnia.

Passionflower contains GABA, a neurotransmitter that helps you relax and rest. One study evaluated passionflower’s effect on adults with insomnia and found that a 60-milligram dose at bedtime for two weeks increased how long participants stayed asleep.

The recommended dose of passionflower for insomnia is not well understood, though many supplements contain 250-900 milligrams of passionflower.

Chamomile has been used for centuries to treat numerous conditions, including anxiety, stress, and sleep disorders.

Chamomile may help you sleep because it binds to GABA receptors, which are involved in sleep-wake cycles. The herb may also contain melatonin. However, the exact mechanism of how chamomile works is not well understood.

Studies evaluating chamomile for insomnia are conflicting. Most show no significant improvement in insomnia symptoms, but some suggest that chamomile improves overall sleep quality. More studies are needed to understand chamomile’s role in insomnia and sleep quality.

Chamomile is commonly consumed as a tea, though supplements are also available. Chamomile is safe in doses of up to 1,500 milligrams daily for up to 26 weeks. Side effects reported with chamomile are rare but include diarrhea, drowsiness, and headache.

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn’t regulate supplements like it regulates drugs. Therefore, it’s important to look for supplements certified by an independent third-party testing organization.

These organizations ensure products contain their claimed ingredients and are free of potential contaminants. Some examples of logos to look for on supplement products are NSF and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

When choosing a supplement for sleep, you should consider:

  • Why you need the supplement (for help falling asleep, help staying asleep, or both)
  • Other medications, supplements, or other products (like alcohol) you are taking that may interact with the supplement or cause increased drowsiness
  • The cause of your sleep problems (medications, health conditions, stress, etc.)

Talk with your healthcare provider before taking a supplement for sleep. They can help review your medical history and determine if any other products you take may interact with the supplement.

If sleep issues affect your daily life or last longer than a month, you should speak to a healthcare provider. Poor sleeping habits can take a toll on your health and affect you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Your healthcare provider can provide information on potential lifestyle changes, therapy options, and prescription or OTC medications that may help improve your sleep habits.

Bad sleep can be common, but sometimes it’s due to sleep disorders like insomnia, which can affect your sleep quality long-term. This condition can affect mood and mental health, cause a lack of energy throughout the day, and affect your ability to focus.

Lifestyle changes, therapy, and prescription medication can treat sleep disorders like insomnia. Some people may also opt for supplements. Certain supplements, such as melatonin, valerian root, and magnesium, may help support better quality sleep.

If you are interested in taking supplements for sleep, talk with your healthcare provider. They can help you decide whether a supplement is safe for you and if it interacts with other medications or supplements you are taking.

Dogecoin Creator Responds to DOGE Price Crash With Brutal Honesty

Not long ago, Elon Musk announced that he will take Dogecoin (DOGE) to the moon. Fast forward to two weeks later, and the price of DOGE has lost 40% in a less than three-day span.

The price collapse came amid a broader $2.2 billion liquidation event, largely driven by ongoing tariff tensions. The sell-off dragged down multiple assets, but for many, the focus landed on Dogecoin. Investors wanted answers. Some turned to Musk. Others looked to Billy Markus – better known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto – one of DOGE’s original creators, alongside Jackson Palmer.

Markus had no interest in explaining. His response was short and direct: market dynamics are not magic, and people should know that by now.

That was it. No further breakdown, no attempt to calm investors. Just a blunt dismissal.

Not surprising. Markus, despite being a key figure in Dogecoin’s creation, has distanced himself from the project for years. He often reminds people that he has no control over the coin’s price, direction or adoption. Yet, when things go south, questions still find their way to him.

Meanwhile, DOGE showed some resilience. After hitting an intraday low of $0.20, it bounced back 26%. A small recovery, but not enough to erase concerns about the overall market trend.

For now, the meme coin has stabilized. The broader sentiment? Still shaky. But if history is any indication, Dogecoin thrives on unpredictability.

In the end, it seems that Musk and Markus are content to let the market do its thing — no explanations needed. Whether or not Dogecoin’s future remains bright is still up in the air.

XAU/USD pressuring fresh record highs

By |2025-02-03T19:18:17+02:00February 3, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

XAU/USD Current price: $2,821.47

  • US President Donald Trump’s first round of tariffs triggered panic in the financial world.
  • United States employment data and the Bank of England stand out this week.
  • XAU/USD set to extend gains beyond $2,825 amid resurgent demand for safety.

Spot Gold benefited from a risk-averse environment, with XAU/USD advancing beyond the $2,800 mark ahead of the American session opening. Fears are dominating financial markets after United States (US) President Donald Trump announced tariffs on three of its major trading counterparts.

Trump announced 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada and 10% levies on Chinese imports on Saturday while anticipating he will also target the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom, spurring concerns about a trade war that would disrupt global supply chains. Safe-haven assets soared while worldwide indexes edged sharply lower. Authorities from the affected countries rushed to announce countermeasures with different degrees of detail.

The panic mood, however, receded during American trading hours. Wall Street started the day with sharp losses but trimmed a good part of those following headlines that cooled down concerns, as Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum said tariffs against the country would be paused after announcing retaliatory levies over the weekend.

As for the bright metal, it benefited throughout the first half of the day from the dismal sentiment, extending gains while the USD retraced. As a result, XAU/USD reached a fresh all-time high of $2,825.39, trading nearby at the time being.

The macroeconomic calendar will feature the Bank of England (BoE) monetary policy decision this week and US employment-related data, including the ADP survey on Employment Change and the monthly Nonfarm Payrolls report. Nevertheless, tariffs and the trade war are likely to dominate financial markets.

XAU/USD short-term technical outlook

From a technical point of view, the daily chart for XAU/USD shows the pair trades inside a bullish channel, retreating just modestly from the upper end of the figure. Still, the upward momentum remains intact, and higher highs are in sight. In the mentioned time frame, technical indicators have partially lost their bullish strength but continue advancing within overbought territory. At the same time, the pair develops above all its moving averages, with the 20 Simple Moving Average (SMA) accelerating north above the 100 and 200 SMAs while providing dynamic support at around $2,726.

The near-term picture suggests buyers retain control despite a short pause. In the 4-hour chart, technical indicators reached overbought readings before turning flat, reflecting the ongoing retracement instead of suggesting a potential change in the dominant direction. At the same time, all moving averages gained upward traction far below the current level, with the 20 SMA at around $2,786.50.

USD/JPY Analysis Today 03/02: Buying Opportunities (Chart)

By |2025-02-03T18:18:26+02:00February 3, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • Recent gains by the Japanese yen have led to the week and month ending with gains, amid growing expectations that the Bank of Japan will continue to raise interest rates this year.
  • The selling operations of the USD/JPY pair pushed it towards the support level of 153.80 before closing the week’s trading stable around the level of 155.18, as the US dollar gained positive momentum in the forex markets at the end of trading amid Trump’s official approval of customs tariffs on goods imported from China, Canada and Mexico.

Japanese Yen Performance Anticipates BoJ Policies

According to the forex market trading, the Japanese yen was in a good position against the rest of the other major currencies amid strong signals of the future tightening of the Japanese central bank’s policies. In this regard, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan Ryozo Himino stated that the Japanese central bank plans to continue raising rates if the economy and inflation are in line with expectations. On the economic front, data released at the end of the week showed that core inflation in Tokyo accelerated to an 11-month high of 2.5% in January, reinforcing expectations for hawkish policy from the Bank of Japan.

In addition, Japanese retail sales exceeded expectations, industrial production rebounded, and the country’s unemployment rate fell unexpectedly.

Trading Tips:

Keep in mind that currency investors are waiting for new buying opportunities for the dollar against the Japanese yen, so be a good follower of the events of this important week

And this week, investors will closely analyse the summary of opinions from the last Bank of Japan meeting for insights into potential policy tightening this year.

US Dollar Will Be Affected by Trump’s Conflict with Powell

After the US central bank kept interest rates unchanged. Amid expectations of a future dispute between Trump and Jerome Powell. In a decisive post on the Truth Social website, Trump attacked the Federal Reserve after the meeting. “Because Jay Powell and the Fed have failed to stop the problem they created with inflation, I will do so by unleashing American energy production, cutting regulation, rebalancing international trade, and re-igniting American manufacturing,” Trump wrote.

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that Trump is not necessarily calling for lower interest rates and is proposing his own solutions independently of the Fed. This is a different approach from his first term and may be related to the recognition that inflation remains a risk. Other criticisms have been directed at the Fed. Trump continued by saying that “if the Fed had spent less time on diversity, equity, inclusion, gender ideology, ‘green’ energy, and fake climate change, inflation would never have been a problem.”

Overall, Trump has probably had more influence on these issues than on actual policy. While Powell claimed he had “not been in touch” with Trump, some reporters at the press conference asked him about some of the recent changes. As the BBC noted, “…the questions Powell faced about how the Fed would handle a new White House order to scrap its diversification programs – and why it had pulled out of a global group of central banks focused on the risks of climate change to the financial system – underscored the challenges he will face in keeping the bank above the political fray.”

USD/JPY Technical Analysis and Expectations Today:

According to the performance on the daily chart, as is clear the USD/JPY pair is in an uptrend breakout mode. Therefore, forex investors may be looking for new opportunities to buy the USD/JPY. Technically, we see that the most appropriate levels for buying the USD/JPY currently are around the support levels of 153.30 and 151.90 respectively. Furthermore, as we always recommend not taking risks, no matter how strong the trading opportunities are. On the other hand, and over the same period of time, the resistance of 156.70 will remain the most important for bulls to control, and thus prepare for the psychological resistance of 160.00 again.

Omega-3 supplements seem to slow down biological ageing

By |2025-02-03T18:16:58+02:00February 3, 2025|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

Omega-3 supplements could be a simple way to slow down ageing

Evgeniia Siiankovskaia/Getty Images

A daily omega-3 supplement seems to slow biological ageing in older people, particularly if combined with vitamin D and exercise.

We already knew that omega-3s – “good” fats found in seeds, nuts and some fish – can boost our immunity, heart health and brain function.

They have also been linked to changes in “epigenetic” markers, chemical tags on DNA that alter the activity of genes and, in turn, how cells behave. This suggests that omega-3s reduce the pace of biological ageing, often defined as a measure of how quickly someone’s body is deteriorating compared with the general population’s.

To explore this further, Heike Bischoff-Ferrari at the University of Zurich and her colleagues split 777 people in Switzerland, aged 70 to 91, into eight groups. They also wanted to find out how omega-3 may work alongside vitamin D supplements and exercise.

“Omega-3 plays on multiple pathways of ageing, such as being anti-inflammatory. Similarly, vitamin D and exercise have multiple benefits,” says Bischoff-Ferrari. “We thought, if you play on each of these differential pathways, do you get an additive benefit?”

Some of the participants were already taking these supplements or doing strength training at the start of the study. It didn’t seem ethical to tell them to stop exercising or stop taking certain supplements, says Bischoff-Ferrari, so they were allowed to continue.

On top of their existing lifestyle habits, each group was told to take varying combinations of a daily 1-gram dose of omega-3, placebo pills and 2000 international units of vitamin D. In addition, some groups were instructed to do 30 minutes of strength training three times a week.

For instance, some people were told to take omega-3 pills, but not vitamin D supplements or to do any additional strength training, while others were told to add in strength training and take vitamin D, but not omega-3.

At the start of the study, the researchers estimated the participants’ biological ages using “epigenetic clocks” previously developed by the team and other researchers. These analysed DNA markers called methyl groups in their blood samples that generally decline with age, impairing cell function.

By doing the same three years later, the scientists found that the participants who were told to take omega-3 only had aged by around 3 months less, on average, than those who were only given placebo pills. They accounted for factors that could affect the results, such as the participants’ actual age, sex, weight and height.

“This is the biggest trial we have today that hints that a simple supplement contributes to slowing biological ageing,” says Bischoff-Ferrari.

What’s more, those who took omega-3 along with vitamin D and did strength training aged even less, compared with people who didn’t introduce any of these habits as part of the trial. “The effect was somewhat more pronounced, almost four months of rejuvenation,” says Bischoff-Ferrari.

These effects may seem small but could be important for some, says Richard Siow at King’s College London. “For an older person, in about three months, there could be a lot of age-related decline going on, so this becomes more significant,” he says.

But epigenetic clocks are not a perfect measure of biological ageing. “Just because biomarkers on your DNA indicate that you resemble someone who is younger, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are healthier in some way,” says Siow.

Further research should assess what the changes mean for measures such as cognition, ability to exercise and heart health, he says. Bischoff-Ferrari’s team is now analysing the participants’ data on such outcomes.

Another limitation of the study is that the participants were relatively healthy and active, and mostly not deficient in vitamin D. Further studies that involve people without these characteristics, and who are younger and live in other countries, are needed, says Bischoff-Ferrari.

Cardano (ADA) Volume Skyrockets 428% Despite Worst Crypto Bloodbath

The broader digital currency ecosystem recorded its worst single-day bloodbath this year, with assets like Cardano (ADA) at the forefront. At the time of writing, the ADA price changed hands for $0.7012, down by 20.53% in the past 24 hours. The coin dropped to $0.5648 in earlier trading, its lowest level in nearly 90 days.

Cardano volume took different turn

Despite the selloff, one unique Cardano metric, the transaction volume, recorded an impressive rally.

Per data from CoinMarketCap, the Cardano volume is up 428.86% to $3.77 billion. This boost in trading volume is not commensurate with the price outlook, thus implying traders were in flight mode over the weekend.

Cardano (ADA) on Edge: 36% Pump or 9% Dump? Here's Price History Prediction

Market data shows that more than $36 million has been lost by ADA traders in the past 24 hours via liquidations. Long traders suffered the most, with over $31 million taken out unduly. With the crypto market drawdown triggered by the tariff war in North America, the effect appears comprehensive across all markets.

At the moment, a high level of volatility has been introduced into the Cardano trading ecosystem. After this multi-month low price, the coin has inked some rebound, but generally, the coin is not out of the woods yet.

Catalyst to watch and Bitcoin influence

Amid this unusual price slump, Cardano traders will likely focus on new anchors as the price recovers. These new anchors might include fundamental ecosystem updates and how they may shape the ADA ecosystem.

With the Plomin hard fork going live in the past week, Cardano proponents are now looking forward to how this upgrade can impact ADA accumulation and price outlook. In addition, ADA’s whale activity is in the spotlight, as a large buying trend can trigger positive sentiment.

Meanwhile, the ADA-BTC correlation may yield a positive boost in the mid-to-long term. Bitcoin has stabilized its latest sell-off, hinting that Cardano may soon follow suit.

GBP/JPY Forecast Today 03/02: Faces Key Resistance (Video)

By |2025-02-03T16:16:27+02:00February 3, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • As you can see, the British pound has been rather bullish against the Japanese yen during the trading session on Friday as we headed into the weekend on a positive note.
  • At this point in time, I suspect you have a scenario where a lot of traders are trying swap at the end of the day.
  • The 200-day EMA sits just above and is offering significant resistance, and I think that is something worth paying close attention to.

Ultimately, at this point in time, you have to be very cognizant of the fact that we have recently tested a major support level, and it now looks very much like a market that is trying to determine whether or not we can continue to climb. I think that’s probably the case given enough time, but I also recognize that there is a lot of technical resistance just above. Not only at the 200 day EMA, but also the 50 day EMA and then the 195 yen level. In general, I like this pair. I just don’t necessarily want to get overly exposed at this point.

Risk Appetite

This is very sensitive to risk appetite, and therefore I think you have to be very cautious because as we’ve seen on Friday, Donald Trump is willing to play games in the media, and that has the computers trading back and forth in a wild fashion. So, with all of that being said, I think you’ve got a scenario where a lot of traders are going to be looking at this basically as the carry trade and hoping for a lot of sideways action. The 190 yen level underneath is the bottom, and the 200 yen level above is the top. Right now, we’re closer to the bottom, so I’m more inclined to be a buyer, but again, not in huge, massive positions.
