Pound to Euro Rate Forecast for Week Ahead: Make or Break for Sterling Rates

By |2024-12-15T14:47:48+02:00December 15, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

December 15, 2024 – Written by Frank Davies

Goldman Sachs forecasts that the Pound to Euro exchange rate (GBP/EUR) will strengthen to 1.2660 at the end of 2025.

SocGen expects near-term GBP/EUR gains before a steady retreat to 1.1765 by the end of 2025.

GBP/EUR hit a 33-month high at 1.2150 during the week before a sharp retreat to 1.2025.

The ECB cut interest rates by 25 basis points, but this had been priced in and ECB rhetoric was not as dovish as expected.

SocGen notes tough resistance at 1.2200 and, technically, a break above this level could see gains to 1.2285 and 1.2500.

The sharp retreat from 1.2150 will provide some reassurance to Pound bears.

ING noted EUR/GBP support at 0.8200; “Below there, we will all be discussing this pair returning to levels last seen on the day of the Brexit vote in 2016. We think this trend is primarily being driven by the BoE versus ECB story. But warmer relations between the UK and the EU can’t hurt. Equally, the eurozone’s fiscal straitjacket should mean the UK economy does outperform in 2025.”

Nevertheless, ING does not expect sustained GBP/EUR gains through 1.2200.

SocGen notes European vulnerability. According to the bank; “We are in a period of exceptional pessimism about the economic and political outlook in Europe. We are tempted to conclude that it cannot easily get much worse, but it isn’t obvious what will make the outlook improve in the near term either.”

Despite economic vulnerability, SocGen does expect the ECB will be relatively cautious over interest rate cuts. It sees the deposit rate at 2.5% at the end of 2025 from 3.00% now, limiting potential Euro selling.

MUFG also sees ECB expectations as overdone; “The futures market currently implies the ECB cutting the key policy rate by around 160bps – we see this as excessive given the inflationary risks that could emerge in an escalation of a trade war.”

HSBC expects a firm Pound tone; “the Brexit grip on GBP has faded, and it means EUR-GBP depends much less now on domestic British politics and more on factors that shape relative growth and inflation outlooks. On this basis, although the US leaves the UK economy in the shade, we think the Eurozone faces greater challenges.”

It added; “Political uncertainty in core Europe is part of our rationale for EUR-GBP weakness, as it may limit the scope for political leaders to alleviate the Eurozone’s growth inertia.”

Political and economic developments will be important with major tensions in Germany and France.

Germany will hold elections in the new year.

MUFG sees scope for positive developments; “Political developments in Germany could potentially turn to a EUR positive development in 2025. Friedrich Merz as Chancellor could bring about much needed impetus for economic policies to boost growth. The CDU-CSU look set to lead a new coalition government and a suspension of the fiscal break would be a welcome development.”

ING expects faster BoE rate cuts will eventually sap Pound support; “The reason we are not more bearish EUR/GBP in our forecasts is that we think the BoE will crumble around February and open up to a more aggressive easing cycle. However, the risks to our [EUR/GBP] forecasts are clearly on the downside.”

Magnesium Can Keep You Stronger for Longer, Research Shows — Best Life

By |2024-12-15T14:46:43+02:00December 15, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

As time passes, our bodies begin to lose muscle and bone mass, which, in some cases, causes frailty or immobility later in life. But experts say that feeling weak as you age isn’t a foregone conclusion. By keeping up your strength training, eating a healthy diet, and even choosing the right supplements, you can stay stronger for longer. In fact, new research shows that magnesium is a common supplement that can do just that.

RELATED: Doctor Says You Might Be Taking the “Wrong” Magnesium—Here’s How to Know.

How does magnesium boost strength?

Magnesium is a mineral that is essential to over 300 of your physiological and metabolic functions. It is important for bone health, energy production, muscle and nerve function, blood pressure and blood sugar regulation, and steady heart rhythm. Many of these particular facets of health directly or indirectly contribute to your strength and physical endurance as you age.

In fact, a 2024 scoping review published in the Journal of Molecular Sciences looked at 20 studies to analyze the role of magnesium in skeletal muscle. In particular, the researchers looked at the mineral’s biological effects on muscle tissue in neuromuscular diseases (NMDs).

They found that there are several ways that magnesium supplements may boost strength as we age.

“Preclinical research has demonstrated that magnesium plays a critical role in modulating pathways affecting skeletal muscle homeostasis and oxidative stress in muscles,” they wrote. “Clinical studies have shown that magnesium supplementation can improve muscle mass, respiratory muscle strength, and exercise recovery and reduce muscle soreness and inflammation in athletes and patients with various conditions.”

Likewise, a 2023 study published in the journal Nutrients confirms the “paramount importance” of maintaining optimal levels of magnesium for strong bones and muscles—especially as you get older.

“As the aging process unfolds, the progressive physiological and structural changes in muscles contribute to disability and frailty among elderly individuals,” the study says. “Magnesium plays multifaceted roles in muscle function, including its roles in contraction, electrolyte balance, energy provision, and anti-inflammatory and antioxidant defense, and has emerged as a critical mineral in preserving muscle health and functionality.”

Could you have a magnesium deficiency?

The authors of the Nutrients study caution that there are several ways a person might develop a magnesium deficiency, including low magnesium intake, reduced gastrointestinal absorption, and increased excretion via the kidneys.

If your body is low in magnesium, you may experience fatigue, headaches, an irregular heartbeat, nausea or vomiting, muscle cramps or weakness, an impaired immune system, and/or numbness or tingling in the legs or hands.

Should you take a magnesium supplement?

The researchers note that maintaining optimal magnesium levels—whether through magnesium-rich foods like avocados, nuts, legumes, pumpkin seeds, and almonds or through dietary supplements—could improve muscle health and function.

According to Mayo Clinic, most adult and teenage males should aim to consume between 270 and 400 mg of magnesium per day, while most adult and teenage females should consume between 280 and 300 mg per day.

However, it’s important to note that supplementation does not appear to improve strength in those who already have healthy levels of the mineral.

If you are unsure whether your magnesium levels are low, the best way to find out is to talk to your doctor about testing. If you are concerned about bone mass, muscle mass, or any other issues affecting strength, be sure to discuss these concerns with your doctor, too.

DOGE Bulls Look To End 2024 Strong, While New DeFi Altcoin, Dominates The P2E Market

By |2024-12-15T14:45:36+02:00December 15, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Dogecoin (DOGE) has had a remarkable year in 2024. With a 289% increase over the past year, DOGE continues to attract both seasoned investors and newcomers. As the year ends, bulls are eager to sustain momentum. However, DOGE isn’t the only crypto making waves. Yeti Ouro (YETIO), a new DeFi altcoin, is revolutionizing the Play-to-Earn (P2E) gaming market. With $1,000,000 already raised in stage 1 of presale, YETIO is capturing the attention of investors worldwide.

Dogecoin News: DOGE Bulls Eye A Strong Finish

Dogecoin price now sits at $0.39, reflecting a solid recovery from earlier market dips. Analysts predict DOGE price could close the year at $0.45, driven by strong community support and increased adoption.

Utility Expansion: DOGE’s use cases are growing, with more merchants accepting it for payments. Despite these positive trends, DOGE faces resistance at the $0.40 mark. Bulls need a strong push to surpass this barrier and sustain growth into 2025.

Yeti Ouro: A Rising Star In DeFi And Gaming

While DOGE focuses on payments and community, Yeti Ouro has carved a niche in the P2E gaming ecosystem. Yeti Ouro powers Yeti Go, a P2E Unreal Engine-based racing game that combines chaotic gameplay with financial rewards.

The game’s development has been catapulted thanks to a partnership with a world-class asset creation company. Yeti Go receives premium quality in looks and feel from an AAA development team best known for titles like Call of Duty, Spider-Man, and The Witcher.

Furthermore, Immersive Audio Design is one of Yeti Go’s many impressive features. Using dynamic, cutting-edge techniques like Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, the game reacts in real-time to gameplay. The realm of Yeti Go springs to life as every sound is handcrafted to improve the player experience.

With a capped supply of 1 billion tokens and token burn mechanisms, Yeti Ouro ensures scarcity, increasing its value over time. Yeti Ouro’s rise highlights the growing demand for DeFi tokens combining utility and entertainment.

What Will Be The Next Moves For DOGE And YETIO?

DOGE: Dogecoin needs wider adoption to support its rally as bulls set their sights on resistance at $0.40 break would open the door to a $0.50 or more 2025 price target.

Yeti Ouro: Yeti Ouro has only 16% of the tokens left in Stage 1, so the project is up for big gains. According to analysts, this token might go as high as $0.50 at the end of 2024 and $2.00 at the end of 2025, creating a solid investment.

Dogecoin Price Prediction: Can DOGE Touch $1 Before January? Analysts Hedge Their Bets As This Cheap $0.02 Altcoin Is Expected To Rally 70,000%

By |2024-12-15T08:43:07+02:00December 15, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

The countdown to January is on, and one question remains: can the Dogecoin price rally to $1? Despite the recent DOGE rally to $0.40, the price has fallen by 7.3% in the last 7 days, leaving crypto analysts and DOGE holders uncertain about another rally.

Meanwhile, analysts are spotlighting a cheap altcoin presale expected to rally by 70,000%, prompting savvy investors to diversify their assets to hedge against the volatile Dogecoin price movements.

Early investors purchased WallitIQ (WLTQ) altcoins at $0.0171, already seeing over a 50% price increase. Now in its second phase, WLTQ is priced at $0.0243 and selling out quickly. With prices set to rise once again, time is running out to capitalize on this opportunity. Visit the WallitIQ (WLTQ) presale website now to secure cheap WLTQ altcoins before it’s too late.

Can DOGE Rally To $1 Before January? Analysts Weigh In With Latest Dogecoin Price Predictions

Since the recent Dogecoin price rally, debates have emerged about how far DOGE can climb. Now, analysts like Mikybull have highlighted DOGE’s bullish trajectory, forecasting a potential Dogecoin price rally to $1 and possibly even $1.5.

However, while these Dogecoin price predictions by optimistic analysts may sound promising, they are speculative at best, making the possibility of DOGE reaching $1 inherently uncertain.

Why Analysts Are Betting On WallitIQ (WLTQ) For A 70,000% Portfolio Boost

For DOGE holders and other savvy investors seeking a more stable opportunity, the ongoing WallitIQ (WLTQ) altcoin presale offers a clear path to sustained profits. Unlike the Dogecoin price, which is driven by unpredictable meme hype and speculative trading, WallitIQ’s (WLTQ) altcoin provides a structured, secure, and stable path to portfolio growth.

With the WallitIQ (WLTQ) presale, investors have the potential for explosive gains before January. For example, purchasing 10,000 WLTQ altcoins during the presale could lead to 400% portfolio growth by the time the WallitIQ (WLTQ) altcoin is listed on top exchanges. WallitIQ (WLTQ) also offers early investors up to 180% APY, reserved airdrops, community rewards and other opportunities to further boost their earnings.

However, the real growth potential comes if the WallitIQ (WLTQ) altcoin hits its 70,000% rally, which could transform a $250 investment into an astonishing $170,000.

This is much more than a speculative play. Savvy analysts are in agreement that WallitIQ (WLTQ) is designed for real-world utility. Its altcoin enables real-world purchases with almost zero fees on swaps, discounted transaction fees, and a Scan & Pay QR feature for easy payments.

Additionally, WallitIQ (WLTQ) offers top-notch security features such as AES & ECC encryption, Escrow Connect, and P2D technology with a thorough smart contracts audit by SolidProof to protect users from malicious contracts.

As the Dogecoin price faces uncertainty on its way to $1, the WallitIQ (WLTQ) altcoin presale stands ready to deliver transformative growth for those looking for a stable DOGE alternative with strong growth potential. Its focus on real-world applications and AI-driven tools makes it one of the most promising altcoin investment opportunities, according to analysts.

Don’t Miss Out On WallitIQ’s (WLTQ) Presale: Act Now Before It’s Too Late!

The ongoing WallitIQ (WLTQ) presale is rapidly gaining momentum, with analysts predicting a massive 70,000% price rally for the WLTQ altcoin at any moment. Investors have a limited-time opportunity before token prices increase by 72.8% to $0.0420 in the next presale stage.

With more than $2.5 million raised and early-stage investors already seeing a 50x rally, now is the time to act. Every moment wasted is a missed opportunity to lock in massive returns before the price increases and the presale sells out.

Join the WallitIQ (WLTQ) presale now and secure potentially life-changing profits before it’s too late! The presale is rapidly progressing, and the opportunity to invest at such a low price will soon be gone. Visit the WallitIQ (WLTQ) presale page now and claim a stake in the most promising altcoin rally of 2024.

BoE and FOMC Could Spark Fresh Selling in Cable

By |2024-12-15T06:44:56+02:00December 15, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • GBP/USD forecast leans bearish as traders eye central bank meetings and UK macro data
  • Key focus on BoE and FOMC rate decisions this week, particular about their forward guidance
  • Key levels to watch: 1.25 support and 1.28 resistance

Friday’s weak UK data saw GBP/USD slide towards the 1.26 handle, as EUR/GBP rebounded sharply from 0.82 to above 0.83, ending the week in positive territory. This recovery in EUR/GBP also supported EUR/USD, which climbed back to $1.05 ahead of a pivotal week for global central bank decisions. Investors anticipate what could be the final burst of volatility in 2024, with the Federal Reserve, Bank of England, and other major central banks unveiling their monetary policy plans for the upcoming year. The GBP/USD forecast remains bearish in this high-stakes environment.

US Dollar Strength Ahead of Potential Hawkish FOMC Cut

Last week’s US CPI data met expectations, but a hotter-than-anticipated PPI raised concerns. Nonetheless, markets are confident in a 25-basis-point rate cut at the Federal Reserve’s final meeting of the year on Wednesday. With this move almost fully priced in, the focus will be on the Fed’ forward guidance.

The critical question is whether the Fed will pause its rate-cutting cycle in early 2025 or continue trimming at 25-basis-point intervals. Jerome Powell’s recent comments, highlighting reduced labour market risks but persistent inflation, have led to speculation of a “hawkish cut”. Traders will scrutinise Powell’s remarks at the post-meeting press conference and the updated economic projections, which could significantly influence sentiment.

President-elect Trump’s fiscal agenda next year could steer the Fed towards a more measured easing trajectory through 2025. Such policies would likely keep the US dollar supported, reinforcing a bearish GBP/USD forecast.

BoE Rate Decision Looms Large for GBP/USD Forecast

While the Federal Reserve takes centre stage midweek, the BoE’s Thursday decision could be equally critical for GBP/USD. Following last week’s weak UK GDP and other soft macro data, markets widely expect the BoE to cut rates by 25 basis points to 4.50%. Monday’s Global and UK PMIs, Tuesday’s wage data, and Wednesday’s CPI figures will further inform the central bank’s outlook.

The BoE’s tone will be pivotal. A dovish cut, emphasising ongoing risks to growth, could weigh heavily on the pound, while any hints of caution in easing policy could provide some support. With both the Fed and BoE decisions landing within 24 hours, GBP/USD volatility is virtually guaranteed.

GBP/USD Technical Analysis

GBP/USD forecast

Source: TradingView.com

Technically, the GBP/USD forecast tilts bearish after last week’s failure to hold above the 1.28 resistance zone. The pair’s retreat below 1.2715/20 has opened the door to further downside, with immediate support seen around the 1.26 level. A decisive break below this point could trigger a retest of the bullish trend line near 1.25, a psychologically significant area where the cable found support in November after briefly dipping to 1.2487.

On the upside, resistance lies in the 1.2800–1.2870 range, which aligns with the 200-day moving average and previous support levels. Any recovery in GBP/USD would need to clear this zone to signal a shift in momentum.

Summary

The GBP/USD forecast remains bearish as traders brace for a critical week dominated by central bank decisions. While a hawkish Fed cut is expected to keep the dollar strong, the BoE’s dovish tilt could further pressure the pound. Key data releases earlier in the week will shape expectations, adding to the volatility.

Dietary adjustments may help control prostate cancer in men undergoing active surveillance

By |2024-12-15T06:43:09+02:00December 15, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

A new study led by UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center investigators offers new evidence that dietary changes may help reduce cancer cell growth in patients undergoing active surveillance, a treatment approach that involves regular monitoring of the cancer without immediate intervention.

The findings, published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, show that a diet low in omega-6 and high in omega-3 fatty acids, combined with fish oil supplements, significantly reduced the growth rate of prostate cancer cells in men with early-stage disease.

This is an important step toward understanding how diet can potentially influence prostate cancer outcomes. Many men are interested in lifestyle changes, including diet, to help manage their cancer and prevent the progression of their disease. Our findings suggest that something as simple as adjusting your diet could potentially slow cancer growth and extend the time before more aggressive interventions are needed.”

Dr. William Aronson, Professor of Urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and first author of the study

Many men with low-risk prostate cancer choose active surveillance over immediate treatment, however, within five years, about 50% of these men eventually need to undergo therapy with either surgery or radiation. Because of this, patients are eager to find ways to delay the need for treatment, including through dietary changes or supplements. However, specific dietary guidelines in this area have yet to be established. While other clinical trials have looked at increasing vegetable intake and healthy diet patterns, none have found a significant impact on slowing cancer progression.

To determine whether diet or supplements can play a role in managing prostate cancer, the UCLA-led team conducted a prospective clinical trial, called CAPFISH-3, that included 100 men with low risk or favorable intermediate risk prostate cancer who chose active surveillance. Participants were randomly assigned to either continue their normal diet or follow a low omega-6, high omega-3 diet, supplemented with fish oil, for one year.

Participants in the intervention arm received dietary personalized counseling by a registered dietician nutritionist, either in-person, through telehealth or by phone. Patients were guided on healthier, lower fat alternatives for high fat/high calorie foods (such as using olive oil or lemon and vinegar for salad dressing), and on reducing consumption of foods with higher omega-6 content (such as, chips, cookies, mayonnaise and other fried or processed foods). The goal was to create a favorable balance of their intake of omega-6 and omega-3 fats and make participants feel empowered to control how they change their behavior. They were also given fish oil capsules for extra omega-3s. The control group did not get any dietary counseling or take fish oil capsules.

The researchers tracked changes in a biomarker called the Ki-67 index, which indicates how fast cancer cells are multiplying-;a key predictor of cancer progression, metastasis and survival.

Same site biopsies were obtained at the start of the study and again after the one-year mark, using an image fusion device that helps track and locate the cancer sites.

Results showed that the low omega-6, omega-3 rich diet and fish oil group had a 15% decrease in the Ki-67 index, while the control group saw a 24% increase.

“This significant difference suggests that the dietary changes may help slow cancer growth, potentially delaying or even preventing the need for more aggressive treatments,” said Aronson, who is also the Chief of urologic oncology at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center and member of the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.

While the results are promising, researchers did not find any differences in other cancer growth markers, such as Gleason grade, which are commonly used to track prostate cancer progression.

The investigators caution that further research is necessary to confirm the long-term benefits of omega-3 fatty acids and lowering omega-6 in managing prostate cancer. The findings support further, larger trials to explore the long-term impact of dietary changes on cancer progression, treatment outcomes and survival rates in men on active surveillance.

The study’s senior author is Dr. Susanne Henning, adjunct professor emerita and former director of the nutritional biomarker laboratory at the Center for Human Nutrition at UCLA. Other UCLA co-authors are Tristan Grogan, Dr. Pei Liang, Patricia Jardack, Amana Liddell, Claudia Perez, Dr. David Elashoff, Dr. Jonathan Said and Dr. Leonard Marks.

The study was funded in part by the National Cancer Institute, the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, Howard B. Klein and the Seafood Industry Research Fund.

XRP Price Prediction For December 15

By |2024-12-15T06:41:59+02:00December 15, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Ripple’s XRP is currently down by more than two percent and is trading at the $2.41 levels. The altcoin is down by more than seven percent in the last seven days. XRP is still technically within a larger bull market, with no confirmed lower highs or lows on the weekly time frame. Over the last couple of weeks, XRP has experienced a short-term bearish trend within the larger bullish market.

Price Prediction

Currently, XRP is testing the support levels between $2.33 and $2.40. There is potential for a short-term bounce from this range, but if the price fails to hold above these levels, it may drop to the next support area between $2.00 and $2.23.

If XRP manages to hold above $2.40, a break above the $2.62 level could trigger a rally toward $3.00 and possibly test the all-time highs near $3.25.

Support and Resistance Levels

The main resistance zone is between $2.90 and $3.00, which is the level to watch for potential price rejection. On the downside, the first key support lies between $2.33 and $2.40. If XRP drops below this level, the next support is between $2.00 and $2.23.

The upper boundary of the trend channel is also acting as support. A break above this level could lead to a more aggressive breakout, but it will depend on how the price moves in the coming days.

Analyst Weighs In

According to analyst Josh of Crypto World, if XRP closes below $2.40, especially under $2.29, it could signal a drop toward support levels around $1.90. Strong support is found around $2, where previous resistance is now acting as new support. If XRP maintains this support, it could continue its upward movement. He said that XRP is showing possible signs of a reversal but lacks sufficient confirmation for a solid bullish breakout.

Dogecoin Price Prediction: Elon Musk’s Grok AI Reveals Where DOGE Will Be On New Year’s Day

By |2024-12-15T04:40:56+02:00December 15, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

As many in the crypto community anticipate how the crypto market will turn out in 2025, artificial intelligence Chatbot Grok AI has made a Dogecoin price prediction that reveals what DOGE’s price will be on New Year’s Day. Further, Grok AI made bullish speculations about an AI token, WallitIQ (WLTQ), which is currently in presale. Let’s see Grok AI’s predictions.

Could Dogecoin Price Reach $1 In 2025?

Elon Musk-led Artificial intelligence Chatbot Grok AI has made bullish speculations about the Dogecoin price, suggesting that DOGE could see a new all-time high of $1 early in 2025. Elon Musk’s Grok AI speculation echoes the bullish prediction made by other market experts like CoinCodex, which suggests that the Dogecoin price will surge past the psychological $1 mark in 2025. Meanwhile, some crypto community members on X (formerly Twitter) are optimistic that the Dogecoin price could surge to the $5 mark due to the imminent bull rally.

Others, however, base their optimism on the support of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is set to oversee the Department of Government Efficiency (D-O-G-E), which will kick off in the Trump administration. Nevertheless, Elon Musk’s Grok AI also included that the Dogecoin price, if affected by bearish market elements, could drop to the $0.10 level. Meanwhile, according to data from asset tracker CoinGecko, the Dogecoin price has settled around the $0.39 mark and ranks 7th in the crypto market.

WallitIQ (WLTQ) Prepares For Surge To $5 In Presale.

Like the Dogecoin price, Elon Musk’s Grok AI also made bullish speculations about WallitIQ (WLTQ) as its presale gained more traction in the crypto market. In this presale, WallitIQ (WLTQ) offers its AI token WLTQ to everyone in the crypto community at a low price of $0.0243 per coin. As investors from several regions hurry to buy the AI token, Elon Musk’s Grok AI predicted it would skyrocket in value to the $5 mark in 2025. However, aside from the profit early investors will make when they buy the AI token now, all token holders will gain access to an AI-powered crypto wallet that changes how users interact with crypto wallets. WallitIQ (WLTQ) allows users to buy, sell, manage, and convert cryptocurrencies like all crypto wallets.

However, unlike other crypto wallets, WallitIQ (WLTQ) allows users to personalize their wallet functionalities and the interface for ease and efficiency. Also, all users who hold the AI token will receive AI-based strategic recommendations that will assist them in making well-informed decisions when trading. WallitIQ (WLTQ) also offers all users portfolio performance and risk management tools, which will help them to efficiently allocate assets for investment or saving. WLTQ, the AI token that powers the network, gives holders voting rights to participate in the platform’s governance.

Token holders who use the AI token for gas fees will become eligible for discounts on their transactions, which is another reason investors are rushing to purchase WLTQ. Further, the AI token has been listed on the asset tracking platform Coinmarketcap, another factor driving it towards the $5 mark. Also, since security is a highly valued feature on a network, WallitIQ (WLTQ) has added an extra layer of security to its platform through a regular audit of its smart contract. SolidProof, a world-renowned blockchain security firm that examined the platform’s smart contract, declared it free from loopholes that can make it weak against cyber attacks, boosting its credibility as a secured network.

Conclusion

While Elon Musk’s Grok AI made bullish speculation on Dogecoin price, the meme coin is still at risk of dipping to a low of $0.10, prompting both large and small investors to shift investments into WallitIQ (WLTQ). Millions of tokens have been sold, and many are hurrying to bag WallitIQ (WLTQ). Further, with 2025 already on the horizon, now is the time to stack up tokens with the potential to boost your portfolio. WallitIQ (WLTQ) is the best choice you can make to prepare ahead of the bull market, so don’t delay!

Do you need a fibre supplement? – Life News

By |2024-12-15T00:40:03+02:00December 15, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

A new study published in the journal Nature Communications earlier this year found that people over 60 years who took prebiotic fibre supplements for 12 weeks showed a ‘significant improvement’ in memory and thinking tests compared with those who didn’t.

Fibre supports a healthy gut microbiome, which produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that may have neuroprotective effects, says Neelima Bisht, chief clinical nutrition, dietetics department, Paras Health, Gurugram. “These SCFAs are believed to reduce inflammation and improve cognitive functions, potentially delaying or mitigating age-related cognitive decline,” she adds.

Agrees Dr Vaishali Lokhande, senior consultant, general medicine, Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai: “The connection between gut health and brain function is becoming clearer, with fibre playing a key role in maintaining a healthy gut microbiome. For those over 60, incorporating fibre-whether through food or supplements-could be a simple yet effective way to support cognitive health. A varied diet, rich in traditional foods like ragi and millets, along with regular exercise and mental engagement, is equally important,” she adds.

While the results of the new study are fascinating and the many benefits of dietary fibre are well-known, such as digestion, weight control, heart health and prevention of chronic diseases, some questions are bound to pop up in your mind. What exactly is a fibre supplement? Is a fibre supplement just as good as fibre from food? Are there any side-effects?

Crucial component

Dietary fibre or roughage is the portion of plant-derived food that cannot be completely broken down by human digestive enzymes. Dietary fibres are diverse in chemical composition and can be grouped generally by their solubility, viscosity and fermentability, which affect how fibres are processed in the body.

“Fibre is a very important nutrient, helps to maintain a healthy digestive system, prevents constipation, and helps lowering cholesterol and blood sugars. It aids in weight loss and also reduces the risk of colon cancer,” says Ritika Samaddar, head, south zone, dietetics, nutrition and dietetics, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi.

Dietary fibre has two main subtypes — soluble fibre and insoluble fibre, which are components of plant-based foods such as legumes, whole grains, cereals, vegetables, fruits, and nuts or seeds. Soluble fibre dissolves in water to form a gel-like substance that helps lower blood glucose and cholesterol levels, says Samaddar of Max Super Speciality Hospital, adding: “This fibre is found in legumes, oats, fruits

like apples, oranges and berries, and psyllium husk.”

Insoluble fibre does not dissolve in water and adds bulk to the stool, promoting regular bowel movements and key for digestive health. “Key sources include whole grains like wheat, brown rice; veggies like green leafy vegetables, broccoli, etc,” adds Samaddar.

The recommendation of fibre intake per day is around 14 gm/1,000 cal which is around 25 gm for women and 38 gm for men. “On an average, adults consume only about 15 gm of fibre per day, and those on a low carbohydrate diet consume less than 10 gm per day,” offers Samaddar.

“To ensure adequate fibre intake, include a variety of high-fibre foods in your daily diet, such as fruits (like apples and berries), vegetables (such as broccoli and carrots), whole grains (like oats and quinoa), legumes (including lentils and chickpeas), and nuts and seeds. Incorporating these foods helps provide the soluble and insoluble fibres needed for optimal health,” says Suhani Seth Agarwal, head of department, dietetics, Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Noida.

Enter supplements

A fibre supplement is a kind of dietary supplement made of plant-based carbohydrates that the body is unable to process. It is intended to give additional dietary fibre. Powders, capsules, and chewable tablets are conventional forms.

“Individuals who find it challenging to consume enough fibre from their diet — due to dietary restrictions, busy schedules, or specific health conditions — often rely on fibre supplements as a convenient solution,” says Bisht of Paras Health.

Supplements containing fibre can be used to manage weight, support digestive health, ease constipation, and enhance general gut health and function.

According to Fiona Sampat, clinical dietitian at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai, one or more of the following fibre sources may be included in fibre supplements:

  • Husks of psyllium, a soluble fibre source that may support healthy digestion, appetite management, and blood sugar regulation. Consuming fibre causes your stomach to expand which facilitates the passage of stool and eases constipation.
  • By adding extra water to faeces, a modified guar gum supplement makes them softer and easier to remove.
  • Methyl cellulose is a type of soluble fibre that promotes regularity, lowers blood sugar and cholesterol, increases feelings of fullness, and may even help prevent cancer.
  • Chicory contains inulin, a soluble plant fibre that gives you a feeling of satiety. By adding water and facilitating the passage of stool, it occupies a large amount of space in the digestive tract.

Are they good?

Both fibre supplements and natural dietary fibre promote digestive health, but they differ in their sources and forms. Natural dietary fibre comes from whole foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes, offering a range of nutrients, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds along with fibre. Fibre supplements, on the other hand, typically provide isolated forms of fibre, such as psyllium or inulin, which can enhance fibre intake but lack the additional nutrients found in whole foods.

“While supplements can be effective for increasing fiber intake and managing specific health issues, they are not a complete substitute for the diverse benefits of a fibre-rich diet. Ideally, a balanced diet with plenty of whole foods should be the primary source of fiber, with supplements used to fill in gaps as needed,” says Seth Agarwal of Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital.

Fibre is like the unsung hero of our diet — it keeps our digestive system running smoothly, supports heart health, and helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Dr Lokhande of Apollo Hospitals in Navi Mumbai says, “In the Indian context, fibre is found abundantly in foods like dal, whole grains like bajra and jowar, and vegetables like tinda and karela. Including a variety of these in your daily diet can prevent constipation, lower cholesterol levels, and even help in managing weight.”

“Imagine starting your day with a bowl of poha loaded with veggies, or ending it with a comforting bowl of dal. These are not just meals but nurturing acts that take care of your body from the inside out. By consciously including high-fibre foods, you’re not just fuelling your body but also investing in your long-term health and happiness,” she adds.

Dr Lokhande then goes on emphasise, “While supplements can help if you’re falling short, they should never replace the wholesome goodness of natural foods. I encourage my patients to see fibre as part of a bigger picture-where every bite contributes to your body’s overall harmony.”
