Do you need a fibre supplement? – Life News

By |2024-12-15T00:40:03+02:00December 15, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

A new study published in the journal Nature Communications earlier this year found that people over 60 years who took prebiotic fibre supplements for 12 weeks showed a ‘significant improvement’ in memory and thinking tests compared with those who didn’t.

Fibre supports a healthy gut microbiome, which produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that may have neuroprotective effects, says Neelima Bisht, chief clinical nutrition, dietetics department, Paras Health, Gurugram. “These SCFAs are believed to reduce inflammation and improve cognitive functions, potentially delaying or mitigating age-related cognitive decline,” she adds.

Agrees Dr Vaishali Lokhande, senior consultant, general medicine, Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai: “The connection between gut health and brain function is becoming clearer, with fibre playing a key role in maintaining a healthy gut microbiome. For those over 60, incorporating fibre-whether through food or supplements-could be a simple yet effective way to support cognitive health. A varied diet, rich in traditional foods like ragi and millets, along with regular exercise and mental engagement, is equally important,” she adds.

While the results of the new study are fascinating and the many benefits of dietary fibre are well-known, such as digestion, weight control, heart health and prevention of chronic diseases, some questions are bound to pop up in your mind. What exactly is a fibre supplement? Is a fibre supplement just as good as fibre from food? Are there any side-effects?

Crucial component

Dietary fibre or roughage is the portion of plant-derived food that cannot be completely broken down by human digestive enzymes. Dietary fibres are diverse in chemical composition and can be grouped generally by their solubility, viscosity and fermentability, which affect how fibres are processed in the body.

“Fibre is a very important nutrient, helps to maintain a healthy digestive system, prevents constipation, and helps lowering cholesterol and blood sugars. It aids in weight loss and also reduces the risk of colon cancer,” says Ritika Samaddar, head, south zone, dietetics, nutrition and dietetics, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi.

Dietary fibre has two main subtypes — soluble fibre and insoluble fibre, which are components of plant-based foods such as legumes, whole grains, cereals, vegetables, fruits, and nuts or seeds. Soluble fibre dissolves in water to form a gel-like substance that helps lower blood glucose and cholesterol levels, says Samaddar of Max Super Speciality Hospital, adding: “This fibre is found in legumes, oats, fruits

like apples, oranges and berries, and psyllium husk.”

Insoluble fibre does not dissolve in water and adds bulk to the stool, promoting regular bowel movements and key for digestive health. “Key sources include whole grains like wheat, brown rice; veggies like green leafy vegetables, broccoli, etc,” adds Samaddar.

The recommendation of fibre intake per day is around 14 gm/1,000 cal which is around 25 gm for women and 38 gm for men. “On an average, adults consume only about 15 gm of fibre per day, and those on a low carbohydrate diet consume less than 10 gm per day,” offers Samaddar.

“To ensure adequate fibre intake, include a variety of high-fibre foods in your daily diet, such as fruits (like apples and berries), vegetables (such as broccoli and carrots), whole grains (like oats and quinoa), legumes (including lentils and chickpeas), and nuts and seeds. Incorporating these foods helps provide the soluble and insoluble fibres needed for optimal health,” says Suhani Seth Agarwal, head of department, dietetics, Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Noida.

Enter supplements

A fibre supplement is a kind of dietary supplement made of plant-based carbohydrates that the body is unable to process. It is intended to give additional dietary fibre. Powders, capsules, and chewable tablets are conventional forms.

“Individuals who find it challenging to consume enough fibre from their diet — due to dietary restrictions, busy schedules, or specific health conditions — often rely on fibre supplements as a convenient solution,” says Bisht of Paras Health.

Supplements containing fibre can be used to manage weight, support digestive health, ease constipation, and enhance general gut health and function.

According to Fiona Sampat, clinical dietitian at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai, one or more of the following fibre sources may be included in fibre supplements:

  • Husks of psyllium, a soluble fibre source that may support healthy digestion, appetite management, and blood sugar regulation. Consuming fibre causes your stomach to expand which facilitates the passage of stool and eases constipation.
  • By adding extra water to faeces, a modified guar gum supplement makes them softer and easier to remove.
  • Methyl cellulose is a type of soluble fibre that promotes regularity, lowers blood sugar and cholesterol, increases feelings of fullness, and may even help prevent cancer.
  • Chicory contains inulin, a soluble plant fibre that gives you a feeling of satiety. By adding water and facilitating the passage of stool, it occupies a large amount of space in the digestive tract.

Are they good?

Both fibre supplements and natural dietary fibre promote digestive health, but they differ in their sources and forms. Natural dietary fibre comes from whole foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes, offering a range of nutrients, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds along with fibre. Fibre supplements, on the other hand, typically provide isolated forms of fibre, such as psyllium or inulin, which can enhance fibre intake but lack the additional nutrients found in whole foods.

“While supplements can be effective for increasing fiber intake and managing specific health issues, they are not a complete substitute for the diverse benefits of a fibre-rich diet. Ideally, a balanced diet with plenty of whole foods should be the primary source of fiber, with supplements used to fill in gaps as needed,” says Seth Agarwal of Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital.

Fibre is like the unsung hero of our diet — it keeps our digestive system running smoothly, supports heart health, and helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Dr Lokhande of Apollo Hospitals in Navi Mumbai says, “In the Indian context, fibre is found abundantly in foods like dal, whole grains like bajra and jowar, and vegetables like tinda and karela. Including a variety of these in your daily diet can prevent constipation, lower cholesterol levels, and even help in managing weight.”

“Imagine starting your day with a bowl of poha loaded with veggies, or ending it with a comforting bowl of dal. These are not just meals but nurturing acts that take care of your body from the inside out. By consciously including high-fibre foods, you’re not just fuelling your body but also investing in your long-term health and happiness,” she adds.

Dr Lokhande then goes on emphasise, “While supplements can help if you’re falling short, they should never replace the wholesome goodness of natural foods. I encourage my patients to see fibre as part of a bigger picture-where every bite contributes to your body’s overall harmony.”

High-fibre foods

  • Fruits: Apples, bananas, pears and berries
  • Vegetables: Carrots, broccoli and spinach
  • Legumes: Lentils, chickpeasand beans
  • Whole grains: Brown rice, oats, and whole wheat products
  • Nuts and seeds: Almonds, chia seeds, and flaxseeds

USD/JPY Forecast Today 13/12: Market Remains Noisy (Chart)

By |2024-12-14T22:41:00+02:00December 14, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • During my daily analysis of the major currency pairs around the world, the USD/JPY pair continues to be one that I am watching very closely.
  • After all, the market is one that has a lot of external pressures, due to the central banks and their divergence of monetary policy.
  • On one hand, he of the Bank of Japan which is seemingly powerless to do anything too tight monetary policy, and on the other hand you have the Federal Reserve which will more likely than not cut interest rates by 25 basis points next week but will remain still after that.

Technical Analysis

The technical analysis for this USD/JPY pair is somewhat bullish, after what has been a base building exercise near the ¥150 level. This is an area that of course will attract a lot of attention, and the fact that the 200 Day EMA is sitting right there has a lot to bring to the table as well. This is a market that has recently been very noisy, as the dreams of a tightening central bank in Tokyo came and went. Because of this, I pay close attention to the 50 Day EMA as a potential support level. Just above current trading, we have the ¥153 level offering resistance. A break above that opens up the possibility of a move to the ¥156 level.

The alternate scenario would be that we break down but it’s really not until we get to the ¥148.50 level that you can make that argument, and even then, I would be a bit hesitant whether or not I should be shorting. The market remains very noisy, and of course the interest rate differential continues to favor the United States, and in that environment all things being equal, we continue to go higher over the longer term.

I look at the recent pullback as more likely than not just the market catching its breath after the spectacular run from ¥140 to the ¥156 region. A pullback to the ¥150 region was an out of bounds per se, and we are starting to see traders come in and take advantage of “cheap US dollars.” As things stand right now, I expect to see more of this in the future.

Dogecoin (DOGE) Price Prediction for December 15

By |2024-12-14T22:37:50+02:00December 14, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Dogecoin (DOGE), the popular and largest crypto meme coin by market capitalization is poised for a price decline as sentiment begins to shift. For the past few days, the overall cryptocurrency market has been quite confusing, raising concerns about whether the price will rally or decline.

However, at this moment it is unpredictable for forecasting price, although the DOGE daily chart has formed a bearish price action.

Dogecoin (DOGE) Technical Analysis and Upcoming Level

According to CoinPedia’s technical analysis, DOGE is currently at a crucial support level of $0.383, after breaking out from an ascending triangle price action pattern. With the recent ups and downs, along with significant volatility, DOGE has successfully retested the breakdown level and is currently receiving support.

Source: Trading View

Based on the recent price action and historical momentum, if DOGE fails to hold this support level and closes a daily candle below the $0.38 level, there is a strong possibility it could decline by 15% to reach the $0.31 level in the coming days.

However, DOGE’s Relative Strength Index (RSI) currently stands at 50, which is far from the overbought region, indicating a potential price reversal in the coming days.

83.68% DOGE Traders Holds Long Positions

Besides the bearish technical analysis, it appears that traders are the ones keeping DOGE at the $0.383 support level, as reported by the on-chain analytics firm Coinglass. Data from the Binance DOGEUSDT Long/Short ratio currently stands at 5.13, indicating strong bullish market sentiment among traders.

Additionally, data reveals that currently, 83.68% of top Binance traders hold long positions, while 16.32% hold short positions.

When combining these on-chain metrics with the technical analysis, it appears that bulls are currently trying to keep the price above the crucial support level and prevent further price decline.

DOGE Current Price Momentum

At press time, DOGE is trading near $0.39 and has experienced a price decline of over 2.65% in the past 24 hours. During the same period, its trading volume dropped by 26%, indicating lower participation from traders and investors as sentiment turns bearish.

Collagen Has Anti-Aging Benefits. What to Know Before You Try

By |2024-12-14T20:38:37+02:00December 14, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

If you’re tuned into the latest beauty trends, you’ve likely heard collagen supplements can help you get a radiant and youthful complexion. This claim comes from the fact that collagen is a vital protein building block for our skin, hair and nails.

Several studies have found that taking collagen supplements daily or adding collagen-rich foods to your diet offers several benefits and truly does help improve the health of your skin, joints, hair and bones. However, our body’s natural collagen production begins to decline as we age, leading to the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. It happens to all of us.

Read on to learn everything about collagen, like where to find it, the benefits of supplements and the drawbacks you should be aware of. Supplements like collagen can be helpful, but don’t forget that focusing on food sources for other vitamins and minerals is the easiest way to stay healthy.

What is collagen?

From talking fridges to iPhones, our experts are here to help make the world a little less complicated.

Before discussing its benefits, what is collagen? In short, collagen is the most plentiful protein in the human body and accounts for one-third of all protein. It serves as a connective building block that holds together your muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and skin. It holds together your muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, skin and promotes healthy joints and connective tissues.

There are nearly 30 known types of collagen, but type I is the most prevalent (it exists in all connective tissue and makes up 90% of all collagen in the body). Types II, III and IV are also common and found in various parts of the body, including your joints, kidneys, ears and blood vessels.

All of this leads us to another pertinent question: What is collagen good for? Your body naturally makes collagen by combining multiple amino acids (like proline and glycine) with zinc, vitamin C and copper. As you get older, production slows and the existing collagen in your body starts to break down at a faster rate.

When that happens, you may notice your skin getting wrinklier, your tendons and ligaments becoming less flexible and your muscles shrinking. To prevent or delay these effects, some people make up for what their body has lost by eating collagen-rich foods or collagen supplements.

From talking fridges to iPhones, our experts are here to help make the world a little less complicated.

Adding collagen to your diet

If you’re looking to amp up your healthy collagen production, you should ensure that your diet includes foods with these essential ingredients:

  • Bone broth
  • Fish and shellfish
  • Chicken
  • Pork skin
  • Eggs
  • Beans
  • Citrus
  • Bell peppers
  • Nuts

Eating a well-balanced diet with a combination of these foods is the best way to boost the collagen protein in your body. You can also consider taking collagen supplements (typically collagen powder or capsules) if you aren’t getting enough collagen from diet alone.

For best results, experts advise taking a collagen supplement one hour before working out, but always check the label and speak with your doctor before starting any new wellness routine.

Benefits of collagen

Now that we’ve covered the fundamentals, let’s explore some of the benefits of collagen supplementation.

Builds stronger bones

Bones are full of collagen, but as you get older, the protein starts to deteriorate — and so does bone health — leading to a decrease in bone strength and density. By incorporating collagen supplements into your diet, you may be able to prevent some bone loss and reduce your risk of bone-related problems, including osteoporosis and fractures.

Decreases joint pain

Collagen also works together with cartilage to keep your joints properly functioning. Over the years, as it wears down, it can lead to stiff and achy joints and put you at a higher risk for osteoarthritis. The good news is that taking collagen supplements has been found to reduce joint pain in physically active people. It may also serve as a pain reliever for people with existing joint problems.

Improves skin

Your skin also contains collagen, which gives it elasticity and hydration when you’re young. As you mature, your skin becomes saggier and more wrinkly due to depleting collagen levels. Interestingly, studies have shown that adding more collagen to your diet can boost skin elasticity, firmness and hydration, visibly reducing the effects of aging.

Promotes healthy hair

Collagen is created with some of the same amino acids that are used to build keratin, the protein that makes up your hair. Because of this connection, there is some evidence that consuming more collagen may help with your hair health by promoting growth, reducing thinning and slowing graying.

Adds muscle mass

Muscle tissue consists of as much as 10% collagen. When the collagen in your body begins to break down, you could lose muscle mass and potentially develop a condition called sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss). Fortunately, studies have shown that taking a collagen supplement, along with increased protein intake and routine resistance exercise, may help people with sarcopenia build back muscle strength.

Drawbacks to collagen supplements

Despite these benefits, there are also a handful of drawbacks to collagen supplements that you should bear in mind before incorporating them into your routine.

They contain animal products (and sometimes, allergens)

Traditional collagen supplements, and all dietary supplements in general, are made from animal products, so they aren’t suitable if you follow a plant-based diet. There are some vegan collagen options on the market, but it’s unclear how they compare to the ones made from animal products. Similarly, if you have any food allergies, make sure to read the label on your collagen supplements thoroughly. In some cases, they may contain common allergens like fish or eggs.

Regulation is a gray area

Collagen supplements are regulated as food (not drugs) by the US Food and Drug Administration, meaning their ingredients and production aren’t monitored by an official governing body. These products aren’t subject to the same regulations and stringent approval process as pharmaceuticals, so it can be tricky to find out about the quality, purity and safety of the ingredients.

Effectiveness studies are limited

Although there have been studies about the effectiveness of collagen (many of which we’ve cited above), more research needs to be done. Also, some of the existing studies have been funded by companies that produce collagen supplements, which may raise ethical questions about bias.

Similar supplements to collagen

It’s difficult to find other supplements that replicate the effects of collagen because its amino acid makeup is different from other proteins. You could try boosting your intake of glycine and proline, the key amino acids that are involved in creating collagen. They’re most often found in protein-rich foods like meat and poultry, but they’re also available in supplement form.

If you’re most interested in how collagen can help improve your hair, nails and skin, you could consider keratin or biotin, which typically come in the form of shampoos and salon treatments but are also sold as dietary supplements. Biotin is also found in certain foods, including legumes, egg yolks, nuts and avocados.

XRP Price Prediction: Rally To $27 Possible?

By |2024-12-14T20:36:59+02:00December 14, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Ripple’s XRP could achieve $6 by the end of December 2024 and $27 in January 2025 as stated in the EGRAG’s Bifrost Bridge analysis. This prediction is based on Fibonacci retracement levels and historical price behavior similar to that which we witnessed in the year 2017 for XRP.

XRP has risen by 26% in December so far and was on the rise by 283% in November. According to EGRAG’s analysis, the next important area is the “gold region” between $4.3 and $6.4.

The analysis also suggests that XRP could surge by 1,330% in January 2025 to trade between $13.7 and $27.3.

Whale Accumulations Boost Confidence in XRP Rally

Moreover, large XRP investors, or whales, have recently purchased 100 million XRP tokens. This is another positive sign for future price increases.

This accumulation was done at a slight price pull back and as at the time of writing the price of XRP was $2.48

XRP Price Prediction: Rally To Possible?

Whale activity is considered as a sign of market sentiment especially when it coincides with the technical analysis.

These acquisitions imply that there is a rising demand for XRP thus strengthening the bullish price prediction.

Additionally, the launch of the RLUSD stablecoin by Ripple Labs, green-lit by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), could greatly benefit XRP’s liquidity.

This development therefore prepares the XRP environment for expansion and utilization in cross border transactions.

The RLUSD stablecoin will help in simplifying the transactions, a crucial aspect of XRP’s overall usage.

According to analysts, this increased liquidity may cause price actions towards the predicted milestones.

Market Dynamics Align with Predictions

Ripple’s (XRP) performance in the last market cycle in 2017 seems to support this view.

According to EGRAG, in 2017, XRP rose by 1,330% within months. The same performance is expected to be repeated in the present situation.

The overall market cap of cryptocurrencies has risen from $60 billion in 2017 to $3.7 trillion today. This is favorable from a macroeconomic perspective.

Using past growth multiples on XRP’s present market capitalization indicates further room for gains.

It is estimated that in order to reach $6 and $27, XRP would have to capture 9% to 18% of the total market capitalization depending on the market conditions.

Similarly, crypto analyst Dark Defender believes that XRP price may rise to $5 once it breaks through $2.52 due to the conclusion of an ABC corrective wave pattern.

He expects this to be the catalyst for a move to $5.85 and then $18.22 by mid-2025. Another analyst at CasiTrades predicts that XRP will rise to $3.46 in the next move upwards.

Source: X

In addition, Charles Hoskinson explained that XRP can be useful in boosting the Cardano ecosystem in one way or another.

Interviews with Ripple’s management showed that XRP can be included into the Midnight sidechain as the third token alongside NIGHT and DUST to enhance the transaction possibilities

Hoskinson also explained that XRP could be more efficient than ADA for the Marlowe platform for decentralised smart contracts.

This opens the door for the future partnership between Cardano and Ripple.

USD/JPY Weekly Forecast: Odds of Cautious Fed in 2025

By |2024-12-14T18:38:05+02:00December 14, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • US consumer price pressures accelerated in November.
  • Data this week solidified bets for a December Fed rate cut.
  • The likelihood of a December BoJ rate hike fell.

The USD/JPY weekly forecast suggests continued dollar strength as markets price a more gradual Fed next year.

Ups and downs of USD/JPY

The USD/JPY pair had a bullish week as the dollar soared on expectations of a very gradual Fed rate-cutting cycle in 2025. Data from the US on inflation this week revealed that price pressures accelerated in November. However, since the CPI came in line with expectations, it solidified bets for a December Fed rate cut. Nevertheless, markets lowered expectations for rate cuts in 2025, boosting the US dollar.

Next week’s key events for USD/JPY

USD/JPY Weekly Forecast: Odds of Cautious Fed in 2025

Next week, traders will watch the US retail sales report, the FOMC policy meeting, and the US GDP report. Meanwhile, in Japan, the BoJ will hold its policy meeting on Thursday.

The US sale report will come before the FOMC meeting. Therefore, the outcome will likely shape bets for the Wednesday policy meeting. Markets expect the Fed to cut interest rates by 25-bps. However, the focus will be on the messaging for future moves.

Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan might keep rates unchanged. However, traders will also watch the messaging to gauge the likely timing for the next rate hike.

USD/JPY weekly technical forecast: Bulls return with sights on the 156.53 resistance

On the technical side, the USD/JPY price has broken above the 22-SMA, a sign that bulls are back in control. At the same time, the RSI has broken above 50 and now trades in bullish territory. Therefore, there has been a shift in sentiment to bullish.

The price was trading in a strong uptrend before pausing near the 156.53 resistance level. Here, bears resurfaced to reverse the trend by breaking below the 22-SMA. However, the decline met a solid support zone comprising the 149.02 key level and the 0.382 Fib retracement level. Here, bulls returned with renewed strength, pushing the price back above the 22-SMA.

Next week, USD/JPY will likely target the 156.53 resistance level. A break above this level would confirm a continuation of the bullish trend. Moreover, it will allow bulls to reach the 160.02 key level.

If You Invested $1,000 In Pudgy Penguins NFTs At Mint, Here’s How Much You’d Have Today

By |2024-12-14T18:19:49+02:00December 14, 2024|News, NFT News|0 Comments

Pudgy Penguins is one of the most well-known NFT collections worldwide, and the floor price recently surpassed the $100,000 level as optimism builds for the launch of the $PENGU token. The takeover of the company and collection by Luca Netz in 2022 will go down as one of the biggest NFT storylines of all time.

Here’s a look back at the mint of Pudgy Penguins and how much you could have made investing $1,000 in the collection, and a look at what the future holds.

Pudgy Penguins History: Pudgy Penguins is a collection of 8,888 NFTs offering “good vibes” and “positivity for everyone.” The collection was minted on July 22, 2021, at a price of 0.03 Ethereum ETH/USD each.

The collection sold out quickly and saw the floor price rise and draw attention from the New York Times and other outlets as one of the faces of the rapid rise of NFT popularity in 2021.

Two subsequent collections also launched with free claims for holders.

Pudgy Rods, originally misspelled as Pudgy Rogs, were unveiled as what was hiding inside Pudgy Eggs, which were a free-to-claim NFT. The unveiling of the fishing rods and the misspelling upset the community and, for many, marked a turning point in the history of Pudgy Penguins.

Lil Pudgys is a collection of 22,222 NFTs, initially offered as a free claim for Pudgy Penguins holders, with the remaining NFTs made available for purchase through a mint. The collection debuted in December 2021.

The discontent within the community caused a decline in the Pudgy Penguins floor price. Frustrated by the project’s lackluster direction, the community voted to remove the founders from control.

In April 2022, entrepreneur Luca Netz bought Pudgy Penguins assets, the brand, company and more for 750 Ethereum, or around $2.5 million at the time.

The floor price jumped from a range of 0.7 ETH to 1.4 ETH to 2.5 ETH and beyond after Netz made the purchase. Optimism quickly spread, and the project appeared resurrected and brought back to life.

Since taking over, Netz has pushed Pudgy Penguins further and evolved the brand into Igloo Inc, which includes several other projects. He has also pushed the company into consumer products, a strategy that has benefitted holders who can collect licensing royalties.

Pudgy Penguins products have been found in stores like Walmart WMT, Target TGT, Five Below FIVE, Walgreens WBA and online through Amazon.com AMZN. With distribution in over 10,000 stores, the brand has sold millions of items.

The company has generated over 50 billion views on social media and has over 34 billion GIF views.

Netz was a speaker at Benzinga’s Future of Digital Assets events in 2022 and 2023, where he shared more about the future of the company.

Pudgy Penguins recently announced the launch of the $PENGU token, which has led to a spike in the floor price, as holders will receive a portion of the new token.

Read Also: Pudgy Penguins Walmart Debut Marks ‘Huge Step Forward’ For Web3, NFTs

Investing $1,000 in Pudgy Penguins: The rapid rise of NFTs in mid-2021 saw many who had experience in the cryptocurrency sector or who had built up familiarity with NFTs and the blockchain through NBA Top Shot, buy up new NFTs from collections, including Bored Ape Yacht Club.

Pudgy Penguins, launching on July 22, 2021, came right during the increased attention for the NFT sector and also when fees to mint NFTs were high.

Ethereum traded between $1,954.30 and $2,044.12 on July 22, 2021. This means the 0.03 ETH price was around $58 to $61. When factoring in gas fees, minting a Pudgy Penguin is estimated at around $90.

A $1,000 investment at the time could have purchased around 11 Pudgy Penguins. Since the mint, that would have also turned into 11 Lil Pudgys and 11 Pudgy Rods.

Here are the current floor prices of the three assets:

  • Pudgy Penguins: 27.4 ETH, $106,783.83
  • Lil Pudgy: 3.477 ETH, $13,614.09
  • Pudgy Rods: 1.7949 ETH, $6,995.12

Here is a look at what the $1,000 investment and owning 11 Pudgy Penguins would be worth at the time of writing:

  • 11 Pudgy Penguins: $1,174,622.13
  • 11 Lil Pudgys: $149,754.99
  • 11 Pudgy Rods: $76,946.32
  • Total: $1,401,323.44

That’s right, a $1,000 investment in cute Penguin NFTs would now be worth more than $1.4 million three and a half years later.

Compare that to a $1,000 investment in Ethereum at the time, which would be worth $1,908.06 today, based on a price of $3,900.87 at the time of writing and the high price back on July 22, 2021.

The same $1,000 invested in the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, which tracks the S&P 500 stock index, would be worth $1,389.68 today.

GBP/USD Weekly Forecast: Dollar Soars on Fading Fed’s Cut

By |2024-12-14T16:37:16+02:00December 14, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • US inflation data showed an increase in price pressures in November.
  • Market participants scaled back expectations for Fed rate cuts in 2025.
  • Traders expect policy meetings in the UK and the US.

The GBP/USD weekly forecast indicates a decline in 2025 Fed rate cut expectations, which is supporting the greenback.

Ups and downs of GBP/USD

The GBP/USD pair had a bearish week as the dollar soared on rate-cut expectations and the pound fell due to downbeat economic data. Notably, markets absorbed US inflation data showing an increase in price pressures that was in line with estimates. The report also showed that inflation had stalled its progress to the 2% target. As a result, market participants scaled back expectations for rate cuts in 2025, boosting the dollar.

Meanwhile, the UK released data showing an unexpected 0.1% contraction in the economy, further weighing on the pair.

GBP/USD Weekly Forecast: Dollar Soars on Fading Fed’s Cut

Next week will be a busy week for the pound with policy meetings in the UK and the US. At the same time, traders will watch data from the UK, including manufacturing business activity, employment, inflation, and sales. Meanwhile, the US will release figures on GDP and retail sales.

Markets are almost fully pricing a Fed rate cut on Wednesday. Therefore, data next week might have little impact on rate cut expectations. However, the report might shape the outlook for 2025. Moreover, market participants will watch policymakers’ tone on future rate cuts.

On the other hand, UK data, especially inflation, might play a big role in shaping the outlook for the Bank of England meeting. Nevertheless, markets expect a pause.

In the most recent attempt, the price broke above the 22-SMA and its resistance trendline. However, price action showed weakness when the price reached the 1.2800 resistance level.

Furthermore, bears returned with strong enthusiasm to push the price back below the trendline and the SMA. As a result, the price made a false breakout. However, bears seem ready to continue the downtrend. To do this, the price must break below the 1.2500 support to make a lower low.

10 Best Turmeric Supplements, According to Dietitians

By |2024-12-14T16:36:04+02:00December 14, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

That said, a turmeric supplement has the potential to deliver a much higher dose of curcumin, which is especially helpful for reaping all the benefits it has to offer.

“As a longevity nutritionist, I love recommending turmeric supplements for their scientifically-backed benefits,” says Ella Davar, RD, founder of Gut-Brain Method. “I also recommend it for gut health, as curcumin supports gut lining integrity and promotes a healthy balance of gut bacteria. For heart health, it’s a fantastic option to improve endothelial function and lower LDL cholesterol, key factors in reducing heart disease.”

Davar says turmeric is also remarkable for brain health support, “with neuroprotective benefits that may help reduce the risk of depression and cognitive decline.” Some studies suggest it may even help prevent age-related diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s disease, says Rosales.

Who should take turmeric supplements?

Most people could benefit from taking a turmeric supplement, as the active compound, curcumin, has far-reaching benefits for overall health. “Its potent antioxidant properties not only neutralize free radicals but also enhance the body’s natural defenses, which is crucial for aging well,” says Davar. What’s more, she often recommends turmeric supplements to clients coping with chronic pain or inflammatory conditions.

Athletes, in particular, who train most days of the week and complain of sore muscles may benefit from taking a turmeric supplement to reduce joint pain, says Ehsani.

In fact, in studies on both active and inactive people, curcumin helped with post-workout muscle damage and inflammation without interfering with normal healing processes like NSAIDs would, explains Moon. “A small study found it may even help with the dreaded delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).” People with osteoarthritis could also consider a turmeric supplement, as it can help alleviate joint pain and improve mobility.

What are the different types of turmeric supplements, and which is most effective?

Davar recommends incorporating turmeric supplements tailored to your specific health goals.

“If you’re looking for optimal absorption, liposomal turmeric, which encases curcumin in lipid layers, or water-soluble turmeric like micellar curcumin, are excellent options due to their enhanced bioavailability,” she says. “For those with sensitive digestion, fermented turmeric is a gentler alternative that may also have enhanced bioactivity.”

As for the most effective form, make sure your turmeric supplement contains bioavailability-enhancing ingredients, like piperine (a black pepper extract) which increases curcumin absorption by up to 2,000%. It’s also ideal to take the supplement with a meal containing some fat.

Turmeric supplements come in many forms—powders, capsules, tablets—but some research suggests the most absorbable type of turmeric is in liquid form.
