Let’s face it—you want to get the most out of your workouts, and adding whey protein can make all the difference. But with so many options on the market, which one really delivers the results it promises?

In this guide, we’ll take you through the best whey protein powders, starting with our top pick, Kion Clean Protein. Whether you’re bulking up, slimming down, or aiming to maintain your muscle mass, there’s a whey protein supplement out there for you.

Best Whey Protein Supplements in 2024 – Quick Overview

  1. Kion Clean Protein – Best whey protein overall
  2. Transparent Labs Whey Protein Isolate – Best whey isolate protein powder
  3. Mindbodygreen Grass-Fed Whey Protein Isolate+ – Best whey protein for women
  4. Ancient Nutrition Whey Protein – Best grass-fed whey protein
  5. NOW Foods Whey Protein Isolate – Best whey protein powder for muscle gain
  6. Naked Nutrition Grape Whey Protein Isolate – Best tasting whey protein
  7. Sculpt Nation Protein – Best whey protein powder for weight loss

What Is Whey Protein?

Whey protein may sound like something out of a lab, but it’s actually a natural byproduct of dairy production—specifically when milk is turned into cheese. During this process, the milk separates into curds and liquid, with whey in the liquid portion.

So, what’s the hype all about? Well, it’s one of the best sources of high-quality protein available, full of essential amino acids your body may not produce on its own. That’s why it’s such a go-to for fitness enthusiasts and anyone looking to boost their protein intake.

But here’s the thing—whey protein doesn’t just build muscle. It’s easily absorbed by the body, which makes it great for recovery after workouts, maintaining muscle mass, or even adding a bit of extra protein to your daily diet. Plus, because it comes in powder form, it’s super versatile. You can throw it into smoothies, shakes, or even your morning oatmeal!

How Does Whey Protein Work?

Whey protein delivers a hefty dose of essential amino acids—the building blocks your body uses to create muscle, repair tissues, and support immune function. When you consume whey protein, it’s quickly digested and absorbed, making it perfect for those post-workout moments when your muscles are screaming for fuel.

Once it enters your bloodstream, the amino acids from whey protein go to work—repairing and growing your muscles. They patch up the tiny tears in your muscles that happen after exercise, making them stronger in the process.

There are other benefits to whey protein, such as regulating appetite, supporting your immune system, and even improving your body’s ability to produce hormones and enzymes.

Types of Whey Protein

There are many types of whey protein, each with unique properties that cater to different needs and goals. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular ones:

Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC)

WPC is the most commonly used form, offering a nice balance between protein content (typically 70 to 80%) as well as fats and carbohydrates. Because it isn’t super processed, you get a bit of everything that naturally comes with whey.

The best part? It’s affordable, effective, and has a smooth taste, making it a favorite for beginners or those looking for a more natural protein source.

Whey Protein Isolate (WIP)

WPI goes through more processing to strip away most of the fat and lactose, leaving you with a protein content of 90% or higher. If you’re lactose intolerant or just looking to cut back on carbs and fats, this is your go-to form of whey.

It’s fast-absorbing and lean—perfect for those focused on muscle building or trimming down. Additionally, it’s great if you’re strict about your macros and want something super clean in your shakes.

Whey Protein Hydrolysate (WPH)

WPH goes through a process called hydrolysis, which breaks down the protein into smaller peptides, making it super easy for your body to absorb. In short, it’s predigested for you.

Why would you go for it? Your body has to do a lot less work to digest this type of protein—ideal if you’re really pushing your body in intense workouts or competitions and need something that will get to work instantly. Also, WPH is gentle on your stomach, so if you struggle with digesting other proteins, WPH could be your best bet.

Native Whey Protein

Native whey protein is the purist’s choice; it’s extracted directly from milk rather than as a byproduct of cheese making. This kind of whey is as close to nature as you can get—it hasn’t been exposed to heat or chemical treatments.

What do you get out of native whey protein that makes it different? Because it’s less processed, it contains more intact amino acids. Plus, it can be slightly higher in leucine, which is the amino acid for muscle growth.

Grass-Fed Whey Protein

Care a lot about how natural and sustainable the food you consume is? Grass-fed whey comes from cows that graze on grass or forage rather than being fed grains. Besides being better for the cows, it also means the protein you’re getting is higher in nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants.

It’s also seen as a cleaner option since grass-fed cows are typically raised without hormones or antibiotics. If you’re all about clean eating and sustainable sourcing, grass-fed whey protein is the way to go.

How to Choose the Best Whey Protein

Here are some of the most important factors to consider when choosing the best whey protein products:

Calorie Amount

Calories matter—whether you’re bulking up or slimming down, the amount of calories in your protein powder can impact your results. If you’re looking to gain muscle mass, you might not mind a few extra calories per serving. But if weight loss is your goal, choose a protein powder with a lower calorie count to avoid sneaking any unnecessary energy that can slow you down.

Protein Content

This is a no-brainer—the higher the protein content per serving, the more your muscles will thank you. Ideally, look for a whey protein powder that offers at least 20 grams of protein per serving, with the higher-end options packing 25 grams or more.

Carbs and Fat Content

Most of the best whey protein isolate supplements have few carbs and fats, which is great for anyone following a low-carb or low-fat diet. But if you’re using protein powder as a meal replacement, a few grams of healthy fats and carbs might be exactly what you need for a more balanced option.

Protein Type

Look through our protein type breakdown above to choose which protein best suits your dietary needs.

Taste and Flavor

Even the best whey protein won’t do much for you if you can’t stand the taste. Protein powders come in various flavors—from classics like vanilla and chocolate to fruity blends and more. The more your taste buds like it, the more consistent you’ll be in using it.

Price

Higher cost doesn’t always mean higher quality. Compare the price per serving rather than just looking at the total tub cost. Some premium options might be worth the investment for their purity and added benefits, while more budget-friendly, simpler options can still offer great results if you’re mindful of the ingredients.

How to Use Whey Protein Powders

Using whey protein powder is simple, and the best part is that there’s no one “right” way to do it. It’s all about finding what works best for your lifestyle and fitness goals.

Most people start by mixing a scoop of whey protein powder with water or milk for a simple post-workout shake. It’s quick, effective, and gets the job done. But why stop there? You can also blend it into smoothies with fruits, greens, and nut butter for a more filling option that’s packed with nutrients.

Whey protein powder is so versatile that you can get creative with it. You can add it to your morning oatmeal, pancakes, or even homemade protein bars. It’s an easy way to sneak in extra protein without overthinking it.

4 Key Benefits of Whey Protein Powder

Whey protein powder has many benefits. It’s not just for bodybuilders but anyone looking to improve their nutrition.

1. Muscle Building

First, let’s talk about muscle building. Whey protein is loaded with essential amino acids, especially leucine, which plays a big role in muscle growth and repair [8]. So, if you’re hitting the gym hard or are just trying to maintain lean muscle as you age, whey protein makes the process much easier.

2. Weight Loss

But it’s not all about bulking up. Whey protein can also help with weight management. It’s super filling, which means it can help curb those afternoon snack cravings or late-night munchies. Plus, it’s low in calories but high in protein, so it can keep you feeling full longer without derailing your diet goals.

3. Immune System Support

Another perk? Whey protein supports your immune system. It contains immunoglobulins, which are proteins that help strengthen your body’s defense mechanisms [9]. While you’re feeding your muscles, you’re also giving your immune system a little boost.

4. Heart Health Support

Finally, whey protein can even support heart health. Some studies suggest it may help lower blood pressure and reduce cholesterol, thanks to its bioactive peptides [10].

Potential Side Effects of Whey Protein Powder

Though generally effective for most, whey protein powder can cause some side effects—especially if you overdo it or have certain sensitivities.

Digestive Issues

The most common complaint? Digestive issues. If you’re lactose intolerant or sensitive to dairy, you might experience bloating and gas buildup or an upset stomach after taking whey protein. For those with lactose problems, you could try any of the best whey protein isolate products (one that has less lactose) or even a lactose-free version.

Dehydration and Kidney Strain

Another thing to remember is that too much protein without balancing it with other nutrients might lead to kidney strain or dehydration. Make sure you drink enough water throughout the day—and remember that moderation is key.

Allergic Reactions Like Itching

Some people also may have mild allergic reactions, though these are rare. If you notice any symptoms like itching or swelling, it’s best to stop using whey protein and consult with a healthcare professional.

What to Avoid in Whey Protein Supplements

Now that we know what to look for, it’s just as important to know what not to put into your body. Let’s look at some red flags you should watch out for before hitting the “add to cart” button.

Artificial and Harmful Ingredients

Nobody wants a protein powder that reads like a chemistry experiment, right? Steer clear of products packed with artificial sweeteners, colors, and preservatives. While these ingredients may improve taste or shelf life, they could cause unwanted side effects like digestive discomfort or headaches. Instead, pick products with simple and natural ingredients.

Excess Carbs and Fat

While minimal amounts of carbs and fats are fine—especially if you’re using the shake as a meal replacement—too much can turn your post-workout shake into a calorie bomb. Be sure to check the label and aim for protein powders with minimal carbs and fats unless you’re deliberately bulking or following specific diet plans.

Untested Supplements and Proprietary Blends

Transparency matters. Avoid whey protein that includes untested or undisclosed ingredients, often hidden behind the term “proprietary blend.” These blends can be a gamble since you don’t know exactly what you’re putting into your body. Reputable brands will be upfront about what’s in their products, including third-party testing results for safety and purity.

FAQs on the Best Whey Protein

Here are some of the most common questions about whey protein.

What Is the Best Form of Whey Protein?

That depends on your goals. The best whey protein isolate is great for those who want a high protein content with minimal fat and carbs. Hydrolyzed whey is a top pick if you need faster absorption for recovery, while concentrate offers a more budget-friendly option with a balanced nutrient profile.

Improving risk mood could help Euro rebound

By |2024-10-28T11:58:14+03:00October 28, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • EUR/USD trades marginally higher on the day at around 1.0800.
  • The pair could extend its recovery once it confirms 1.0800 as support.
  • In the absence of high-tier data releases, the risk perception could drive the pair’s action.

EUR/USD holds its ground and trades in a narrow channel at around 1.0800 after closing the fourth consecutive week in negative territory. The positive shift seen in risk mood could help the pair edge higher in the second half of the day.

Euro PRICE Last 7 days

The table below shows the percentage change of Euro (EUR) against listed major currencies last 7 days. Euro was the weakest against the US Dollar.

USD EUR GBP JPY CAD AUD NZD CHF
USD   0.64% 0.66% 2.55% 0.54% 1.59% 1.59% 0.45%
EUR -0.64%   -0.05% 1.82% -0.01% 0.91% 0.84% -0.27%
GBP -0.66% 0.05%   1.87% -0.11% 0.94% 0.93% -0.26%
JPY -2.55% -1.82% -1.87%   -1.96% -0.92% -0.88% -2.10%
CAD -0.54% 0.01% 0.11% 1.96%   0.95% 1.10% -0.22%
AUD -1.59% -0.91% -0.94% 0.92% -0.95%   0.08% -1.20%
NZD -1.59% -0.84% -0.93% 0.88% -1.10% -0.08%   -1.18%
CHF -0.45% 0.27% 0.26% 2.10% 0.22% 1.20% 1.18%

The heat map shows percentage changes of major currencies against each other. The base currency is picked from the left column, while the quote currency is picked from the top row. For example, if you pick the Euro from the left column and move along the horizontal line to the US Dollar, the percentage change displayed in the box will represent EUR (base)/USD (quote).

The US Dollar (USD) preserved its strength heading into the weekend and forced EUR/USD to stay on the back foot. Rising US Treasury bond yields helped the currency find demand on Friday.

Early Monday, US stock index futures rise between 0.5% and 0.7%. A bullish opening in Wall Street, followed by a risk rally, could weigh on the USD and open the door for an extended EUR/USD rebound in the American session on Monday.

The only data featured in the US economic calendar will be the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ Texas Manufacturing Business Index, which is unlikely to trigger a noticeable market reaction. Later in the week, third-quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data from Germany, the Eurozone and the US will be watched closely by market participants. On Friday, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics will release the October employment report, which will include Unemployment Rate, Nonfarm Payrolls and wage inflation figures.

EUR/USD Technical Analysis

EUR/USD was last seen trading near the upper limit of the descending regression channel coming from late September, currently located at 1.0800. Once the pair rises above this level and confirms it as support, technical buyers could show interest. In this scenario, the 50-period Simple Moving Average (SMA) on the 4-hour chart could act as interim resistance at 1.0830 before 1.0870 (200-day SMA).

On the downside, 1.0760 (mid-point of the descending channel) aligns as first support ahead of 1.0710-1.0700 (lower limit of the descending channel, static level).

In the meantime, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicator on the 4-hour chart rises toward 50, reflecting sellers’ hesitancy.

Euro FAQs

The Euro is the currency for the 19 European Union countries that belong to the Eurozone. It is the second most heavily traded currency in the world behind the US Dollar. In 2022, it accounted for 31% of all foreign exchange transactions, with an average daily turnover of over $2.2 trillion a day. EUR/USD is the most heavily traded currency pair in the world, accounting for an estimated 30% off all transactions, followed by EUR/JPY (4%), EUR/GBP (3%) and EUR/AUD (2%).

The European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt, Germany, is the reserve bank for the Eurozone. The ECB sets interest rates and manages monetary policy. The ECB’s primary mandate is to maintain price stability, which means either controlling inflation or stimulating growth. Its primary tool is the raising or lowering of interest rates. Relatively high interest rates – or the expectation of higher rates – will usually benefit the Euro and vice versa. The ECB Governing Council makes monetary policy decisions at meetings held eight times a year. Decisions are made by heads of the Eurozone national banks and six permanent members, including the President of the ECB, Christine Lagarde.

Eurozone inflation data, measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), is an important econometric for the Euro. If inflation rises more than expected, especially if above the ECB’s 2% target, it obliges the ECB to raise interest rates to bring it back under control. Relatively high interest rates compared to its counterparts will usually benefit the Euro, as it makes the region more attractive as a place for global investors to park their money.

Data releases gauge the health of the economy and can impact on the Euro. Indicators such as GDP, Manufacturing and Services PMIs, employment, and consumer sentiment surveys can all influence the direction of the single currency. A strong economy is good for the Euro. Not only does it attract more foreign investment but it may encourage the ECB to put up interest rates, which will directly strengthen the Euro. Otherwise, if economic data is weak, the Euro is likely to fall. Economic data for the four largest economies in the euro area (Germany, France, Italy and Spain) are especially significant, as they account for 75% of the Eurozone’s economy.

Another significant data release for the Euro is the Trade Balance. This indicator measures the difference between what a country earns from its exports and what it spends on imports over a given period. If a country produces highly sought after exports then its currency will gain in value purely from the extra demand created from foreign buyers seeking to purchase these goods. Therefore, a positive net Trade Balance strengthens a currency and vice versa for a negative balance.

XAG/USD drops over 1%, bears need to wait for weakness below $33.00

By |2024-10-28T11:47:40+03:00October 28, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • Silver kicks off the new week on a weaker note, albeit manages to hold above the $33.00 mark.
  • The technical setup warrants caution for bears and before positioning for any further losses.
  • A sustained break below the $33.00 mark should pave the way for some meaningful correction.

Silver (XAG/USD) attracts fresh sellers during the Asian session on Monday and currently trades around the $33.30 area, down nearly 1.25% for the day. The white metal, however, manages to hold above a one-week low, around the $33.10-$33.00 area, set on Friday, warranting some caution for bearish traders.

Moreover, technical indicators on the daily chart – though have been losing positive traction – are holding in positive territory. This further makes it prudent to wait for a convincing break below the $33.00 mark before positioning for an extension of last week’s pullback from the highest level since October 2012. Some follow-through selling below the $32.75-$32.65 resistance-turned-support will reaffirm the negative bias and make the XAG/USD vulnerable.

The subsequent downfall might expose the $32.20-$32.15 intermediate support before the white metal drops to the $32.00 round figure and the $31.70-$31.65 region. The downward trajectory could extend further and drag the XAG/USD towards the $31.00 mark en route to the $30.50 area and the monthly swing low, close to the $30.00 psychological mark tested on October 8.

On the flip side, the $33.65 horizontal zone now seems to have emerged as an immediate hurdle, above which the XAG/USD is likely to reclaim the $34.00 mark and climb further towards the $34.30-$34.35 supply zone. The momentum could extend further and allow bulls to make a fresh attempt to conquer the $35.00 psychological mark before aiming to challenge the October 2012 swing high, around the $35.35-$35.40 region.

Silver FAQs

Silver is a precious metal highly traded among investors. It has been historically used as a store of value and a medium of exchange. Although less popular than Gold, traders may turn to Silver to diversify their investment portfolio, for its intrinsic value or as a potential hedge during high-inflation periods. Investors can buy physical Silver, in coins or in bars, or trade it through vehicles such as Exchange Traded Funds, which track its price on international markets.

Silver prices can move due to a wide range of factors. Geopolitical instability or fears of a deep recession can make Silver price escalate due to its safe-haven status, although to a lesser extent than Gold’s. As a yieldless asset, Silver tends to rise with lower interest rates. Its moves also depend on how the US Dollar (USD) behaves as the asset is priced in dollars (XAG/USD). A strong Dollar tends to keep the price of Silver at bay, whereas a weaker Dollar is likely to propel prices up. Other factors such as investment demand, mining supply – Silver is much more abundant than Gold – and recycling rates can also affect prices.

Silver is widely used in industry, particularly in sectors such as electronics or solar energy, as it has one of the highest electric conductivity of all metals – more than Copper and Gold. A surge in demand can increase prices, while a decline tends to lower them. Dynamics in the US, Chinese and Indian economies can also contribute to price swings: for the US and particularly China, their big industrial sectors use Silver in various processes; in India, consumers’ demand for the precious metal for jewellery also plays a key role in setting prices.

Silver prices tend to follow Gold’s moves. When Gold prices rise, Silver typically follows suit, as their status as safe-haven assets is similar. The Gold/Silver ratio, which shows the number of ounces of Silver needed to equal the value of one ounce of Gold, may help to determine the relative valuation between both metals. Some investors may consider a high ratio as an indicator that Silver is undervalued, or Gold is overvalued. On the contrary, a low ratio might suggest that Gold is undervalued relative to Silver.

How matcha lattes became a wellness status symbol

By |2024-10-28T10:25:00+03:00October 28, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

Your support helps us to tell the story

This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

Help us keep bring these critical stories to light. Your support makes all the difference.

Zennah Chaudri, a personal trainer who lives in Covent Garden, starts every Sunday morning the same. She pulls on her lululemon gym kit, walks to pilates and picks up a matcha latte – the pastel green drink that currently has much of the UK obsessed – en route. “I just feel super boujee,” she says. “It’s my ritual. Love it.”

Head to Chelsea’s affluent King’s Road on a weekend morning and you can barely move for teens snaking out of the west London Blank Street Coffee branch. Its blueberry matcha recipe and “meet for matcha” slogan have helped popularise the beverage made from the powdered leaves of the green tea plant, Japanese Camellia sinensis, for around £4 a pop. Chaudri claims she spends £50 per month. My own bank statement reveals an embarrassing £65 per month habit. And if you earn the average salary for someone under 30 in the UK, around £30k, that’s a sizeable chunk of your wages. It’s no wonder Chaudri reached for the word “boujee” – from bourgeois, of course– to describe the lifestyle choice.

Matcha tastes like grass. But much like how the bitterness of coffee goes from wince-worthy to mouthwatering the more you drink it, the earthiness of matcha soon becomes its most addictive quality. What was once a niche health food is now on menus at chains like Leon. “I spend around £30 a week,” says luxury watch specialist Marie Dazzoni. “I just think it tastes really good. It’s great because it’s available almost everywhere. I go to Starbucks at least four times a week.”

The fact that it’s seen as “healthy” is key. As with reformer pilates and magnesium supplements, where wellness goes – the wealthy have followed. Cute colour and celebrity influence aside, many drinkers cite a bid to cut their coffee intake as the cause for their pricey habit. “Matcha is really high in antioxidants. Plus, the caffeine is much more slow releasing,” says nutritionist Jenna Hope. “So, rather than have that spike and crash you get with coffee, you get a gradual rise and a slow come down. None of that anxiety, heart racing, feeling that coffee has. It’s one of the key reasons people are making that switch.”

Japan Centre, owner of Europe’s largest Japanese food hall, says sales of their own-brand matcha powder you can brew at home have increased by over 40 per cent in the last 12 months. The market has a global value of $2.3bn (£1.8bn), which is predicted to rise to $2.9bn in 2028. On TikTok, over 964,000 aesthetic videos of the substance being whisked and poured sit under the matcha hashtag – with most videos made by designer-wearing influencers. Gwyneth Paltrow drinks it. So too, Kylie Jenner, Rihanna and Brad Pitt.

Not all matcha is created equal. The powder comes in different grades starting at culinary and rising to premium and ceremonial. As the quality increases, so too does the cost. “Matcha has a very specific way of being processed,” says Japan Centre executive Amelia Trillo, who cites the powder’s importation as a reason for its price point. “If it’s made outside of Japan, it won’t reach high quality,” she says. “The tea plant is grown in the shade. The leaves are picked by hand. You can only use the freshest leaves. Only 20 or 30 per cent of the plant is actually used. Then, it’s ground using a stone to make the powder.” Essentially, this is green gold dust.

Unlike coffee, there’s no genuinely cheap way to drink matcha lattes on a regular basis. At home pouches of the drinkable grade powder cost £16 for 30g in Holland and Barrett, £24 for 100g on Ocado and £30 for 60g in Harrods. Wherever you go, high street or high end, it’s many times the cost of an at-home Americano.

“Good quality green tea will also have similar benefits to matcha,” says Hope. “But it doesn’t have the same aesthetic that matcha has. You know, from a social media perspective.”

Seemingly half the appeal of matcha to those who’ve championed its popularity is to simply be seen drinking it. A cursory scroll of TikTok’s thousands of matcha videos reveals Belgravia’s high-end Cafe Kitsuné, where as many Chanel handbags are on the tables as matcha lattes. “Going to Kitsuné is like going to a fashion show,” one post reads. “A Kitsuné run is always my favourite,” another visitor adds as she hops in her white Porsche Cayenne.

Matcha is far from the first wellness drink to become an influencer accessory. Back in 2023, Hailey Bieber caused shockwaves across the internet with the release of her “skin glaze” smoothie at the luxury grocery store Erewhon. One cup – of almond milk, strawberries, vanilla collagen, hyaluronic acid, coconut cream, sea moss, avocado, maple syrup and dates – costs $20 (£15). Still, there were hour-long queues of customers waiting to try it.

Despite the goal of drinking ourselves healthy, banana bread and peanut butter jelly matcha lattes both exist. So, it’s safe to say the powder’s health benefits have been decidedly messed with as its global consumption has increased. “People think that matcha is healthy but when you’re consuming it in that capacity it’s just really not,” warns Hope. “These matcha Frappuccino type drinks are problematic. They’re really high in sugar. Sometimes, they’ve had creams added to them. People are getting fooled into thinking this is a healthier option when it’s not.”

Routine-wise, matcha should provide a peaceful pause for the purists not a social media post for the posers, says Trillo. “In Japan, they’re not drinking lattes every day. It’s not a common thing,” she explains. “Matcha has been drunk for over 800 years but it’s traditionally enjoyed at tea ceremonies. It’s very specific. How to handle the bowl. How to sit. So, when someone wakes up and makes matcha in their own house in the UK, you should still use a matcha whisk that has to be put in warm water to open it up. You whisk the matcha in a certain motion. It’s like a ritual. A whole art form. Therapeutic.”

Whipped cream and your name being screamed by an overworked barista is a far cry from the serenity of a Japanese tea ceremony. Plus, for all the delicious – but syrup-pumped – servings of matcha on offer in the UK, you’ll experience just as many lukewarm, unwhisked, takeaway offerings that are nothing more than clumps of green grit floating in a plastic glass of milk. Having matcha out is often just a financial slap in the face disguised as a self-care decision.

Matcha is in its boom, but soon, like pumpkin spice and vanilla cold brew before it, its ready availability may become unchic. “I think the trend will continue for a few years,” says Trillo. “But I have a feeling, in the future, we’ll turn to other teas with a list of health benefits. Black sesame and Hojicha – roasted green tea – are slowly becoming popular in the form of lattes.”

So, wherever you go and whatever you do, there’ll more than likely be a £5 frothy beverage that hypnotises you into squandering your life savings. Because matcha or otherwise, we’re not addicted to lattes (although millennials spend £728 on them a year). We’re addicted to the dopamine hit of purchasing a sweet treat to sip on and carrying our silly little branded cups around the park.

Cardano Price Prediction And Forecast 2024,2025 And 2030 – Forbes Advisor INDIA

In the crypto casino, many investors bet on the big names like bitcoin and Ethereum, but is Cardano the wildcard everyone underestimates?

While early talks labeled Cardano as the next “Ethereum killer,” the project has since earned a reputation as one of the most divisive in the crypto space. Its journey has been marked by soaring peaks, challenging troughs, and an undeniable impact on the crypto market.

When it comes to the project, questions remain: What’s next for Cardano? Is it poised for greatness, or will it fade into the shadows like so many projects before it?

To shed light on the possible future of Cardano, we’ve turned to Gracy Chen, Managing Director of Bitget, to provide her view of where Cardano stands today and where it might be headed in the near future.

What Is Cardano?

In the competitive and crowded world of cryptocurrencies, Cardano stands out. Think of it as a new-generation blockchain designed to be more secure, scalable, and sustainable. The project was founded in 2014 and officially launched its native token ADA in 2017. Cardano offers a platform for building smart contracts (like digital agreements) and creating decentralized applications while claiming to be more secure and efficient than competitors.

Chen says that Cardano is alive with activity, with “135 projects launched and 1,264 projects in various stages of development” on the chain. However, she also adds that it’s not all smooth sailing, noting that “it’s clear that not all projects have flourished”. Regulatory scrutiny and significant advancements in layer 2 blockchain technology further threaten the progress of projects building on Cardano.

While Cardano was built to address the shortfalls of competitors like Ethereum, it has struggled to gain any significant level of adoption. Now that Layer 2 blockchain solutions have arrived on Ethereum, significantly decreasing transaction costs and increasing confirmation speed, Cardano’s once-unique features are no longer a significant catalyst for adoption.

Despite this, Chen notes that “the foundation’s focus on development education, new infrastructure like stablecoins, programming languages, and wallets, and the growth of multi-chain solutions” set the tone for its ambitious future roadmap. A keen focus on next-gen tech, innovative digital coins, and user-centric solutions is at the forefront of this project. However, whether they can deliver on any promises is yet to be seen.

Cardano’s Price History

Like many crypto projects, Cardano’s price history chart resembles the path of a theme park roller coaster: teetering highs, followed by precipitous drops.  In 2017, the Cardano blockchain and its native token, ADA, officially debuted in the crypto world at $0.0024.

ADA was originally greeted with skepticism. Chen recalls many detractors dismissing the project as just another “high market-cap sh*tcoin”. However, Cardano would soon defy these early judgments. “One of the pivotal moments for ADA was the Alonzo hard fork in 2021, which unlocked its smart contract capabilities,” says Chen. This technological leap and the 2021 crypto bull market set the stage for ADA’s meteoric rise.

The enthusiasm and anticipation surrounding Cardano’s smart contracts led to ADA’s valuation surging by 30 times. Its market cap touched an impressive $94.9 billion, which established ADA as a serious contender in the crypto race.

“Such an ascent was distinct,” Chen says. “ADA, during this phase, even managed to outpace giants like BTC and ETH in growth rates.”

Yet, with great crypto highs come inevitable corrections. Post the peak of the Alonzo hard fork in September 2021, ADA faced a downward shift.

“After the Alonzo-driven peak, ADA’s price trajectory began oscillating, leading to the varied trends we observed in 2023,” Chen says.

The final quarter of 2023 saw some life come back to the crypto markets, largely driven by the anticipation of the SEC’s approval of pending applications for spot bitcoin ETFs. All 11 applications were approved in early January 2024, sending bitcoin’s price to new all-time highs. You will now need roughly INR 5,106,99 to buy one bitcoin.

While Cardano did not spike to the same magnitude, a rising tide lifts all boats, and ADA has been buoyed by the overall market enthusiasm surrounding the institutional acceptance of digital assets. As of August 9, 2024, ADA is trading at $0.3475, around 50% higher than where it was in October just last year.

However, as the project has failed to gain traction against competitors like Ethereum, Solana and TON, Cardano has slipped out of the top 10 cryptocurrencies after holding its place for many years. Whether the project can reignite adoption and reactivate the once-strong community is yet to be seen.

How Will Cardano Perform in 2024?

Analyzing Cardano’s on-chain data provides key insights into its current activity. The total number of transactions has reached 91 million, averaging between 50,000 and 70,000 daily. This might seem impressive at first glance, but the differences become stark when placed side-by-side with Ethereum.

Ethereum, being a significant player in the blockchain space, records daily transfers in the millions. In contrast, Cardano’s numbers, while growing, are still just a fraction of Ethereum’s daily activity.

Chen notes: “With bitcoin surpassing its all-time high, investors have high expectations for other prominent public blockchain projects in the crypto industry to also exceed their historical highs. Currently, Cardano’s price is still 88.79% low from its historical high.”

One primary indicator of a project’s success is the number of developers working on the chain. The renewed sentiment around blockchain projects, such as Cardano, is spurring a surge in activity from developers, which can be seen in the number of new contracts being deployed exploding over the past month.

“The number of smart contracts on Cardano increased by 67% in just three weeks in March 2024, adding 9,671 new contracts, demonstrating the rapid growth and adoption of Cardano’s smart contract platform,” Chen says.

“Additionally, Cardano has become the blockchain with the highest development activity during Q4 2023, surpassing other major crypto projects, including Polkadot, Kusama, Cosmos, and Ethereum.”

Yet, challenges abound. Despite the fact that over 100 projects are already live and thousands more are in the development stages, only some ventures have found success.

“The TVL (Total Value Locked) in Cardano’s DeFi ecosystem exceeded $450 million in March 2024, marking a 300% rise from last year,” Chen says.

“The driving force behind this growth is the increased interest in other blockchain platforms, as investors seek diversified opportunities and higher returns.” Once again, compared to Ethereum, with a TVL of over $53 billion, it highlights how far Cardano has to grow to compete.

Chen is cautious when considering Cardano’s price potential.

“In the short term, ADA’s potential to deviate from BTC’s prevailing trend seems restricted,” she says.

“A resistance point near $0.6 is evident.” Nevertheless, there are reasons to be optimistic.

“Projects like Indigo and Minswap have witnessed significant growth in TVL, indicating healthy capital inflows and increasing investor confidence in the ecosystem’s potential.”

What Does the Future Hold for Cardano?

Before we delve into the possibilities, let’s understand two essential market perspectives. The bull case is optimistic, highlighting scenarios where Cardano’s price could rise. In contrast, the bear case offers a more cautious stance, outlining why Cardano’s price might decline. These two contrasting views provide a balanced understanding of potential market trajectories for the project.

The Bull Case

Cardano is not without its strengths and opportunities. The Cardano Foundation has placed a significant focus on development education, creating innovative infrastructure, and expanding multi-chain solutions. These efforts cannot be understated.

Chen is optimistic about certain facets of Cardano’s future: “Cardano’s reputation as an OG cryptocurrency project remains robust. The backing it receives from multiple entities and communities gives ADA a unique price elasticity.” Indeed, this collective support system can act as a springboard for ADA’s potential upward movement.

Additionally, the almost cult-like group of supporters helps to push the project forward in the right direction. Half the battle for many projects is gaining a strong support base from avid users, and for Cardano, this is something that the project has no shortage of. Another question is whether the current level of support is enough to push the project back into the limelight.

The Bear Case

No coin, no matter how promising, is exempt from challenges. Despite Cardano’s concerted efforts in ecosystem development, it still faces obstacles.

As highlighted by Chen, a concerning point is that “Cardano’s ecosystem is presently heavily reliant on its native token, and its user engagement and trading volumes remain moderate at best”. Furthermore, only some projects within the Cardano ecosystem have found success, with many failing to gain much traction. “For genuine, substantial growth, the network needs much more intensified operational efforts,” Chen says.

The rise in popularity of layer 2 blockchains has made many of the lower-cost layer 1 blockchains, like Cardano, virtually redundant. The project must work hard to find its niche in the market among other blockchain projects.

Additionally, uncertainties can’t be dismissed. Factors ranging from the overall development of the ecosystem, and regulatory decisions from bodies like the SEC, to broader macroeconomic conditions, all play pivotal roles in shaping ADA’s future.

Is Cardano a Good Investment?

Making a definitive judgment about an asset’s investment potential is always tricky, especially in the ever-evolving world of cryptocurrencies. However, we can make an informed assessment based on the available data and expert perspectives.

Chen adopts a measured stance on the future of ADA. She acknowledges Cardano’s robust background, its infrastructure, and the substantial growth in its staking activity. Yet, she also underscores the need for more intensified operational efforts for it to truly flourish.

On the price front, Chen anticipates that “ADA will most likely fluctuate within the $1 to $3 range”, however, she adds that a significant breakthrough in technological progress may drive its value back above $1 for a sustained period.

Like any investment, Cardano comes with its set of opportunities and challenges. Its status as an original cryptocurrency project, coupled with the strong support from its various entities and community, offers a sense of stability. Yet, uncertainties stemming from ecosystem development, regulatory environments, and global economic factors should be considered.

For Indians considering Cardano as an investment, it’s always prudent to conduct thorough research, consult with a financial advisor, and approach it as a part of a diversified portfolio. As always, investments in the crypto space should be made with a clear understanding of the risks involved.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What will Cardano be worth in 2025?

It’s challenging to predict exact prices for any cryptocurrency, including Cardano, so far into the future. Many factors, including technological advancements, regulatory decisions, adoption rates, and broader market conditions will play roles in determining its price. It’s always wise to consult a range of predictions and do thorough research before making any investment decisions.

Will Cardano reach $100 dollars?

For Cardano to reach $100, its market capitalization would need to be around $3.5 trillion (which is $100 multiplied by its circulating supply of 35,045,020,830 ADA). For context, the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies combined was $2.5 trillion as of March 21, 2024. This means that, for Cardano to reach $100, it would be worth more than three times the entire current crypto market.

While the crypto market can be unpredictable, reaching such a market cap for a single cryptocurrency would require significant global adoption and a major shift in the financial landscape. From a mathematical perspective, such a price would be a massive increase and, while not impossible, would be extremely ambitious.

What will Cardano be worth in five years’ time?

Predicting specific cryptocurrency prices five years into the future is a complex task due to the myriad of factors that can influence market dynamics. This includes technological updates, regulatory changes, macroeconomic factors, competition, and more. Historically, the crypto market has shown significant volatility. While some analysts and experts might provide price predictions based on certain models and data, it’s essential to approach such predictions with caution and base investment decisions on robust research.

Will Cardano reach $20?

For Cardano’s ADA to reach $20, its market capitalisation would have to be around $700 billion (which is $20 multiplied by its circulating supply of 35,045,020,830 ADA). This would depend on factors like widespread adoption, technological breakthroughs specific to Cardano, and a bullish sentiment across the cryptocurrency market. Mathematically speaking, it’s feasible, but it’s important to consider the broader crypto landscape, potential challenges, and evolving competition.

How high can Cardano realistically go?

When considering Cardano’s (ADA) future potential, it’s useful to compare it with Ethereum, a key competitor. As of August 9, 2024, Cardano is priced at $0.3467 and has a market cap of $12.47 billion, while Ethereum stands at $2,670 and has a market cap of $320.97 billion. The substantial difference in market cap and price points to Ethereum’s current adoption and market share dominance.

However, if Cardano can close the gap in technological advancements, increase adoption, and expand its ecosystem, there’s potential for growth in its value. This growth could be proportional to how it competes with Ethereum in key areas like smart contracts, DeFi applications, and scalability. The crypto market is dynamic and influenced by many factors, so while precise predictions are challenging, Cardano’s growth potential is closely tied to how it fares against competitors like Ethereum

Is Cardano going to go up in price?

The recent surge in Cardano’s price, from approximately $0.25 in October 2023 to $0.64 as of March 21, 2024, illustrates a robust upward trend. This performance mirrors the general optimism seen across the cryptocurrency market, largely attributed to the approval of 11 spot bitcoin ETFs for trade in the US. Such regulatory milestones can significantly affect market sentiments, fostering a conducive environment for other cryptocurrencies, including Cardano (ADA).

While predicting the exact future price of Cardano involves uncertainty, several factors could potentially influence its trajectory positively. The huge increase in developer activity on the network is an extremely positive sign, as it is bringing a wave of fresh projects, and thus, opportunities. The chain is seeing significant capital inflows to projects like Indigo and Minswap, which is an indication of investor confidence in the projects being built on Cardano.

However, the chain is still a far cry from the likes of Ethereum or Solana, so while there is plenty of opportunity for growth, it is essential to dive deep into the details of the project to see if there are underlying reasons why it is lagging behind other blockchain projects.

What is the difference between ADA and XRP?

ADA and XRP, while both popular cryptocurrencies, serve different purposes. ADA is the native token of Cardano, a decentralized blockchain platform for smart contracts and dApps. It’s used for transaction fees, staking, and governance. In contrast, XRP is the native token of the XRP Ledger, a blockchain designed for fast, low-cost international payments, primarily designed for financial institutions to use as an alternative to traditional payment systems like SWIFT.

What does Cardano ADA do?

ADA, Cardano’s native token, serves multiple roles within the Cardano ecosystem. Similar to how ETH works on the Ethereum blockchain, ADA is used to pay transaction fees, facilitate smart contract interactions, and reward network participants for validating transactions through staking. Additionally, holding ADA grants voting rights, allowing the community to participate in the governance and future development of the Cardano platform.

XAU/USD buyers turn cautious, as a Big week kicks in

By |2024-10-28T09:46:46+03:00October 28, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • Gold price kicks off a big week on a negative note below $2,750 on Monday.
  • The US Dollar finds support from higher Treasury yields, Middle East tensions.
  • Technically, Gold price remains ‘buy-the-dips’ trade whilst above 38.2% Fibo level.

Gold price has lost its two-day recovery momentum, trading below $2,750 amid a quiet start to a big week on Monday. Gold buyers did find acceptance above the $2,740 static resistance on Friday but the further upside appears elusive on resurgent US Dollar (USD) demand.

Gold price focuses on Mideast tensions, key US data this week

The USD resumes the recent uptrend, drawing safe-haven demand amid further escalation in the Middle East tensions and uncertainty around the November 5 US presidential election.

Israel attacked Iran with a series of airstrikes early Saturday, saying it was targeting military sites in retaliation for the barrage of ballistic missiles the latter fired upon Israel on October 1, 2024.

Iran’s official newspaper reported, citing the Iranian Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei as saying that “the evil committed by the Zionist regime (Israel) two nights ago should neither be downplayed nor exaggerated.”

Additionally, markets are wagering a less aggressive easing cycle by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) on US economic resilience, which keeps the sentiment around the Greenback underpinned at the expense of the Gold price.

However, the downside of the Gold price remains capped due to renewed expectations of more stimulus measures from China. China’s Vice Minister of Finance Liao Min said earlier that the country will step up countercyclical adjustments of its macro policies to bolster economic recovery in the fourth quarter.

China is the world’s biggest Gold consumer and hence, hopes of an increase in physical demand for Gold on stimulus optimism favors buyers. Further, the festive season in India – the world’s no.2 yellow metal market – could also lend support to the bright metal.

Looking ahead, the US economic calendar is devoid of any high-impact data release, and hence, Gold price will remain at the mercy of risk trends. Additionally, a sense of caution could prevail amid Mideast concerns and heading into an action-packed US data docket, with all eyes on inflation and employment details.

Gold price technical analysis: Daily chart

Gold price has tested $2,723, the 23.6% Fibonacci Retracement (Fibo) level of the latest record rally from the October 10 low of $2,604 to all-time high of $2,759, on its renewed downside.

Acceptance below that level on a sustained basis could extend the decline toward the 38.2% Fibo level of the same ascent at $2,700.

Further south, the 50% Fibo support at $2,681 will be challenged, where the 21-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) aligns.

Alternatively, Gold buyers could re-attempt the $2,750 psychological barrier if the 23.6% Fibo support at $2,723 holds.

The next relevant bullish target will be seen at the record high of $2,759.

The 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) is pointing lower but holds comfortable above the 50 level, currently trading near 64, suggesting that Gold price remains a good dip-buying trade at lower levels.

Gold FAQs

Gold has played a key role in human’s history as it has been widely used as a store of value and medium of exchange. Currently, apart from its shine and usage for jewelry, the precious metal is widely seen as a safe-haven asset, meaning that it is considered a good investment during turbulent times. Gold is also widely seen as a hedge against inflation and against depreciating currencies as it doesn’t rely on any specific issuer or government.

Central banks are the biggest Gold holders. In their aim to support their currencies in turbulent times, central banks tend to diversify their reserves and buy Gold to improve the perceived strength of the economy and the currency. High Gold reserves can be a source of trust for a country’s solvency. Central banks added 1,136 tonnes of Gold worth around $70 billion to their reserves in 2022, according to data from the World Gold Council. This is the highest yearly purchase since records began. Central banks from emerging economies such as China, India and Turkey are quickly increasing their Gold reserves.

Gold has an inverse correlation with the US Dollar and US Treasuries, which are both major reserve and safe-haven assets. When the Dollar depreciates, Gold tends to rise, enabling investors and central banks to diversify their assets in turbulent times. Gold is also inversely correlated with risk assets. A rally in the stock market tends to weaken Gold price, while sell-offs in riskier markets tend to favor the precious metal.

The price can move due to a wide range of factors. Geopolitical instability or fears of a deep recession can quickly make Gold price escalate due to its safe-haven status. As a yield-less asset, Gold tends to rise with lower interest rates, while higher cost of money usually weighs down on the yellow metal. Still, most moves depend on how the US Dollar (USD) behaves as the asset is priced in dollars (XAU/USD). A strong Dollar tends to keep the price of Gold controlled, whereas a weaker Dollar is likely to push Gold prices up.

NANJING, China –– What if a supplement marketed for heart health could actually increase your risk of heart attack? That’s the question raised by new research examining taurine, a widely-used amino acid found in energy drinks and dietary supplements. While often touted for its cardiovascular benefits, researchers warn that taurine might actually destabilize atherosclerotic plaques – potentially increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes in some cases.

The research, published in the Journal of Exploratory Research in Pharmacology, challenges previous assumptions about taurine’s protective effects on heart health. The study, conducted by researchers at several institutions in Nanjing, China, found that while taurine reduced the size of arterial plaques in mice, it also made these plaques less stable and more prone to rupture.

Atherosclerosis, the buildup of fatty deposits in arteries, is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for about 31% of all fatalities in America. These deposits, or plaques, can gradually narrow and harden arteries, restricting blood flow to vital organs. When these plaques become unstable and rupture, they can trigger heart attacks and strokes.

The research team first examined blood samples from 145 people, including healthy individuals and patients with various stages of coronary heart disease. Intriguingly, they found that patients experiencing acute heart attacks had significantly higher levels of taurine in their blood compared to healthy individuals or those with stable heart conditions.

To understand this connection better, the researchers turned to laboratory mice genetically modified to develop atherosclerosis. They created conditions that accelerated plaque formation in the mice’s arteries and then treated some of them with taurine for four days.

The results were surprising: while taurine treatment did reduce the size of arterial plaques, it also decreased their stability. Think of it like a snow-covered mountain – taurine made the snowpack smaller but also more avalanche-prone. The treated plaques showed reduced collagen content and fewer smooth muscle cells, both crucial components that help keep plaques stable and less likely to rupture.

The study also revealed that taurine increased the production of certain enzymes that break down collagen in blood vessel walls. This finding helps explain why the plaques became less stable – imagine these enzymes as tiny demolition crews, weakening the structural integrity of the plaques.

These findings are particularly relevant given taurine’s widespread use in energy drinks and supplements. While previous studies have suggested that long-term taurine supplementation might help prevent atherosclerosis by lowering cholesterol levels, this new research indicates that short-term exposure might have different, potentially harmful effects.

The researchers emphasize that their findings don’t necessarily mean people should completely avoid taurine – after all, it’s a natural amino acid that plays important roles in the body. However, they suggest that healthcare providers should carefully monitor patients taking taurine supplements, particularly those with existing cardiovascular conditions.

Paper Summary

Methodology

The researchers used a two-pronged approach. First, they analyzed blood samples from 145 human participants divided into four groups: healthy individuals and patients with three different severities of heart disease. They used sophisticated laboratory techniques to measure taurine levels in these samples. Second, they conducted experiments using mice specially bred to develop atherosclerosis. These mice were fed high-fat diets and underwent surgical procedures to accelerate plaque formation in their arteries. Some mice then received taurine treatments, while others served as control groups.

Results

The human study revealed that heart attack patients had significantly higher blood taurine levels (4.04 μg/mL) compared to healthy individuals (3.52 μg/mL). In the mouse experiments, taurine treatment reduced plaque size but also decreased the ratio of smooth muscle cells to inflammatory cells within the plaques – a key indicator of plaque stability. The treatment also increased the production of enzymes that break down collagen, further contributing to plaque instability.

Limitations

The researchers acknowledge several important limitations. The study only looked at short-term taurine administration (four days), which may not reflect the effects of long-term supplementation. The mouse model, while useful, doesn’t perfectly mirror human atherosclerosis. Additionally, the study didn’t examine how different doses of taurine might affect outcomes, and it didn’t track whether the destabilized plaques actually led to more cardiovascular events.

Discussion and Takeaways

The study suggests a complex relationship between taurine and cardiovascular health. While taurine might help reduce plaque size, its effect on plaque stability raises concerns about its safety in certain contexts. The researchers suggest that the elevated taurine levels seen in heart attack patients might be the body’s response to cardiac stress rather than a cause of the heart attack. They emphasize the need for careful monitoring when using taurine supplements, particularly in patients with existing cardiovascular disease.

The paper states that the authors declared no potential conflicts of interest. While specific funding information isn’t mentioned in the paper, the research was conducted at multiple institutions in Nanjing, China, including the China Pharmaceutical University and the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine.
