8 vitamins and supplements for weight loss backed by science | Around The Web

By |2024-10-22T19:06:14+03:00October 22, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

Experts agree that eating wholesome, healthy meals, reducing calories, and increasing physical activity are the best ways to lose weight and keep it off long-term. Still, many people turn to vitamins and supplements for weight loss. In fact, around 15% of people have tried weight loss pills and weight loss supplements at some point in their lives.

The question is: Do supplements help with weight loss? And if so, what are the best options for weight loss?

Ro shares what to know about losing weight with supplements and the best research-backed supplements to boost metabolism.

Do Weight Loss Supplements Work?

The multi-billion dollar weight loss industry offers products ranging from diet pills and supplements to weight loss shakes and protein bars, all promising weight loss. However, these weight loss pills and products may not be as effective as advertised.

This is partly because supplements and vitamins for weight loss aren’t as heavily regulated as you might imagine. The Food and Drug Administration oversees dietary supplements for weight loss and sometimes takes harmful weight loss products off the market. But they don’t formally approve vitamins and supplements for specific uses, including weight loss.  So if you see a vitamin or supplement advertised as being able to help you burn fat or reduce body weight, you should take these claims with a grain of salt.

All that said, certain supplements may act as metabolism boosters, help reduce body fat, improve your overall health, and potentially help you decrease your body weight, if you have an underlying deficiency. These work best when combined with other healthy lifestyle choices, like eating a healthy diet and engaging in physical activity

8 Weight Loss Vitamins and Supplements to Boost Metabolism

Most of the supplements that can be used as part of an effective weight loss routine are naturally occurring, meaning you can get them from natural foods. If you eat a balanced diet, you may already get enough of these compounds. Still, some people may be deficient in these components, and supplementing with them in pill form may help boost metabolism and burn calories more efficiently, not to mention improve the overall functioning of your body.

1. Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 helps with many essential processes in the body, including the functioning of the central nervous system and the production of red blood cells. It also plays an important part in energy metabolism, and is sometimes used by athletes to increase their endurance.

Low levels of vitamin B12 are common, especially in people who don’t consume animal products, because animal products are the primary food source for vitamin B12. Others at risk of vitamin B12 deficiencies include older people, those with anemia or digestive disorders, and people who’ve had gastrointestinal surgery.

At this time, there is no proof that supplementing with B12 will boost your metabolism if you are not deficient. But people with a vitamin B12 deficiency may see a metabolism boost.

2. Vitamin D

Vitamin D is present in a limited number of foods—fatty fish and cod liver oil are some of the best food sources. You can also get it through sun exposure. Vitamin D can help with many processes in the body, like building bones and reducing inflammation. It also plays a vital role in processing sugar.

If you are wondering which vitamins are good for losing belly fat, you might want to add this supplement to your arsenal—some think of vitamin D as a fat burner. For example, a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that supplementing with vitamin D and calcium may reduce belly fat in people with overweight and obesity.

Because vitamin D is hard to obtain from foods and many of us don’t get adequate sun exposure, vitamin D deficiency is common. Contact your healthcare provider to find out if you may be deficient in vitamin D and whether supplementing could help you achieve modest weight loss.

3. Calcium

Calcium is a mineral found in abundance in the body. It’s rare for someone to be calcium deficient, but some groups are at risk, including postmenopausal women, older adults, people who don’t consume dairy products because of allergies or dietary preferences, people with a history of eating disorders, and adolescents.

Calcium helps build strong bones and teeth, plays important roles in the circulatory and neurological systems, and regulates hormones. It also helps regulate metabolism and plays a part in weight management.

One study suggests that adding calcium and vitamin D supplementation to a lower-calorie diet may increase fat loss in people who typically consume low levels of calcium compared to people who only lower their calorie intake. Another study showed similar results, suggesting an association between calcium and vitamin D supplements and diet-induced weight loss.

4. Magnesium

Magnesium is a nutrient found in nuts, whole grains, and leafy greens. It helps regulate your nervous system, muscles, blood pressure, and blood sugar. There are indications that magnesium supplements may help people lose weight, especially if they have certain underlying conditions.

Studies suggest that supplementing with magnesium may help certain populations lower their BMI and decrease their waist circumference, especially those with hypertension, obesity, magnesium deficiency, and insulin resistance.

5. Green tea extract

While green tea isn’t a vitamin, it’s one of the few weight loss supplements with some research behind it. You can consume green tea as a beverage, but you can also consume it in pill form.

Green tea is thought to potentially help with weight management because of its main ingredients: catechins and caffeine, which may help increase metabolism and act as appetite suppressants. Green tea supplementation may contribute to a small amount of weight loss in people with overweight or obesity, though the jury is out regarding whether this amount is clinically significant.

Green tea may also play a role in fat oxidation during moderate-intensity exercise and glucose tolerance in certain populations. A small study also showed that it increased metabolism, meaning it helped participants burn more calories throughout the day.

6. Green coffee extract

Green coffee extract has gained some attention for its potential to support weight loss—early research hints at modest benefits. However, results are inconclusive and more research is needed to determine if the supplement is effective.

Some side effects of green coffee extract can include upset stomach, headaches, difficulty sleeping, and abnormal heart rhythms. As with any supplement, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating green coffee extract into your routine, especially if you are sensitive to caffeine.

7. Fiber

Taking a fiber supplement can help with weight loss by making you feel full, which can reduce how much you eat. Soluble fiber, in particular, forms a gel-like substance in your stomach that slows digestion, keeping you satisfied for longer. Studies have found fiber intake to be associated with reduced subsequent calorie intake. Fiber supplements can be a convenient way to increase your fiber intake, but it’s important to choose the right one for you and consult with a health care professional before adding it to your weight loss plan. Make sure to stay hydrated when taking fiber supplements; without enough water intake, they can have a constipating effect.

8. Protein powder

Your body burns more calories digesting protein than fats or carbs. Protein can also increase satiety, so adding protein powder to your diet may boost your metabolism and help you feel full longer. Protein can help maintain muscle mass while losing weight, which is important for a healthy metabolism, and stabilizes blood sugar to reduce cravings. Choose a protein powder that fits your needs—popular types of protein powder include whey, casein, soy, and plant-based options like pea or hemp protein. Try to avoid protein powder with a lot of added sugar.

Should You Take Supplements for Weight Loss?

Most over-the-counter vitamins and supplements marketed for weight loss are of little use and may be no better than a placebo. A report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office states, “Little is known about whether weight loss supplements are effective, but some supplements have been associated with the potential for physical harm.”

This is why it’s best to review any weight loss supplements you are considering taking with your health care provider. Most shouldn’t be a problem, as long as you take them in appropriate dosages, but they may not offer the health benefits you’re looking for, especially if you’re not deficient in them.

If you’re struggling to lose weight and are overweight, have obesity, and/or have Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, consider speaking to a health care provider about weight loss medications that are proven to be effective in certain people, like Ozempic or Wegovy. These medications belong to a class of drugs called GLP-1 agonists. They work by increasing feelings of fullness, slowing down the process of stomach emptying, and reducing appetite.

USD/JPY Forecast Today – 22/10: USD Soars vs JPY (Chart)

By |2024-10-22T18:45:21+03:00October 22, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • In my daily analysis of the USD/JPY pair, the pair has exploded to the upside during the Monday session, as we have broken above the ¥150 level, an area that of course is very important.
  • Now that we are above that area, it looks as if short-term pullbacks will continue to get bought into, especially as the 200 Day EMA has offered significant support.
  • In general, this is an exhaustively bullish mood, and now that we have broken above the crucial ¥150 level, we could start to see momentum pick up.

Interest Rate Differential Continues

The interest rate differential continues in this pair, as the market has broken to the upside, and I think we will continue to see traders hold onto this pair in order to collect swaps at the end of every day.

After all, the Bank of Japan has recently admitted that he cannot tighten monetary policy any further, so therefore think you get a situation where we will see the upward trajectory continue.

After all, I like the idea of buying short-term pullbacks that we can take advantage of, as the market has shown itself to be important.

Even if we see a breakdown from this area, the 200 Day EMA is likely to provide strong support. Should the price fall below that level, additional support can be found around the ¥148 level, with the 50 Day EMA just beneath it. This creates a scenario where traders may view any dips as opportunities to buy “cheap US dollars”.  Keep an eye on the USD/JPY live chart for real-time movements and potential trade setups.

=On the upside, I think we’ve got a situation where the pair could very easily go to the ¥153.50 level, which is an area that has been noisy in the past.

All things being equal, I do think that the carry trade is back, and therefore we will continue to see this move to the upside. All things being equal, I have no interest in selling this pair.

There is an association between endometriosis and dietary vitamin B6 intake, according to a recent study published in Frontiers in Nutrition.1

Endometriosis presents in 5% to 10% of women, leading to symptoms such as pelvic pain and infertility. The significant health care cost of endometriosis makes it a significant publish health concern,2 but data about modifiable risk factors remains limited.

Multiple metabolic processes are impacted by the intake of a vitamin found naturally in certain foods known as vitamin B6.1 Immune and endocrine systems are also impacted by vitamin B6 intake, and data has indicated potential increased risks of certain cancers from B6 deficiency.

As endometriosis is linked to behaviors in pathways related to inflammation and cell proliferation, vitamin B6 may be a modifiable risk factor of the condition. However, research about this association is currently lacking.

Investigators conducted a study to evaluate the association between dietary vitamin B6 intake and endometriosis. Data from 1999 to 2006 was obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and the National Center for Health Statistics, with patients aged 20 to 54 years.

Participants completed a reproductive health questionnaire that asked whether they’d been diagnosed with endometriosis by a doctor or other health care professional. Dietary assessments were conducted using responses to the NHANES dietary survey. Patients’ food and beverage intake in the day before the interview were also recorded.

Patients were randomized to participate in morning, afternoon, or evening data collection. There were 2 dietary recall interviews, followed by a phone interview after 3 to 10 days.

Covariates included age, race and ethnicity, marital status, family income, smoking status, education level, alcohol consumption, physical activity, body mass index (BMI), high blood pressure, diabetes, use of birth control pills, chronic bronchitis, caloric consumption, coronary heart disease, total fat intake, total cholesterol intake, and nutritional supplement use.

There were 4453 participants included in the final analysis, 7.57% of whom presented with endometriosis and 63.92% were overweight. Smoking was reported in 39.10% of participants, dietary supplement use in 47.14%, and being aged under 40 years in 53.40%.

Participants who were aged under 40 years, used dietary supplements, had a BMI under 25, had an education level over 12 years, didn’t smoke, had moderate exercise, or lived with a partner or had higher income were more likely to report dietary vitamin B6 intake.

Significant associations were reported between dietary vitamin B6 intake and endometriosis, with correlations also found for age, race, family income, birth control pill use, education level, chronic bronchitis, high blood pressure, and dietary supplement use. This indicated a complex link between dietary factors, demographics, and lifestyle choices.

When compared to B6 consumption of less than 0.94 mg/day, the adjusted odds ratio (OR) for intake of 0.95 to 1.39 mg/day and endometriosis was 1.22. In comparison, the ORs for 1.40 to 1.99 mg/day and over 1.99 mg/day were 1.22 and 1.51, respectively.

There were no significant interactions reported when stratifying results based on age, BMI, marital status, smoking status, education level, family income, or dietary supplement use. This indicated a consistent association between dietary vitamin B6 intake and endometriosis across demographic factors and lifestyle choices.

These results indicated an association between dietary vitamin B6 intake and endometriosis. Investigators concluded there is a potential role of diet in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.

Pound Sterling trades dangerously close to key support area

By |2024-10-22T16:44:01+03:00October 22, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • GBP/USD trades slightly below 1.3000 in the European session on Tuesday.
  • Key support area seems to have formed in the 1.2950-1.2960 area.
  • BoE Governor Bailey will deliver a speech later in the session.

Following a two-day recovery, GBP/USD turned south on Monday and lost 0.5% on the day. The pair struggles to gather recovery momentum early Tuesday and trades slightly below 1.3000.

British Pound PRICE Last 7 days

The table below shows the percentage change of British Pound (GBP) against listed major currencies last 7 days. British Pound was the weakest against the US Dollar.

USD EUR GBP JPY CAD AUD NZD CHF
USD   0.78% 0.59% 0.72% 0.25% 0.63% 0.69% 0.26%
EUR -0.78%   -0.20% -0.07% -0.53% -0.12% -0.10% -0.51%
GBP -0.59% 0.20%   0.16% -0.35% 0.05% 0.08% -0.27%
JPY -0.72% 0.07% -0.16%   -0.48% -0.10% -0.06% -0.43%
CAD -0.25% 0.53% 0.35% 0.48%   0.38% 0.44% 0.08%
AUD -0.63% 0.12% -0.05% 0.10% -0.38%   0.04% -0.32%
NZD -0.69% 0.10% -0.08% 0.06% -0.44% -0.04%   -0.36%
CHF -0.26% 0.51% 0.27% 0.43% -0.08% 0.32% 0.36%

The heat map shows percentage changes of major currencies against each other. The base currency is picked from the left column, while the quote currency is picked from the top row. For example, if you pick the British Pound from the left column and move along the horizontal line to the US Dollar, the percentage change displayed in the box will represent GBP (base)/USD (quote).

Markets adopted a cautious stance at the beginning of the week amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, allowing the US Dollar (USD) to benefit from safe-haven demand. At the time of press, US stock index futures were down between 0.4% and 0.6%.

A bearish opening in Wall Street, followed by an extended slide in major equity indexes could allow the USD to preserve its strength and force GBP/USD to stretch lower.

The US economic calendar will feature the Richmond Fed Manufacturing Index data for October, which is unlikely to trigger a noticeable market reaction.

In the early American session, Bank of England (BoE) Governor Andrew Bailey will deliver a keynote address at the Bloomberg Global Regulatory Forum in New York. Since he is unlikely to comment on the policy outlook, this event could have little to no effect on Pound Sterling’s valuation. The next important data release for GBP/USD will be S&P Global’s preliminary October Manufacturing and Services Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) data for the UK and the US on Thursday.

GBP/USD Technical Analysis

GBP/USD trades within the descending regression channel coming from late September and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicator on the four-hour chart stays well below 50, reflecting the bearish bias.

On the downside, the lower limit of the descending channel and the 100-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) form a strong support area at 1.2950-1.2960 ahead of 1.2900 (round level, static level). Looking north, first resistance could be seen at 1.3050 (static level, upper limit of the descending channel) before 1.3090-1.3100 (Fibonacci 23.6% retracement of the latest downtrend, static level) and 1.3140 (50- day SMA).

Pound Sterling FAQs

The Pound Sterling (GBP) is the oldest currency in the world (886 AD) and the official currency of the United Kingdom. It is the fourth most traded unit for foreign exchange (FX) in the world, accounting for 12% of all transactions, averaging $630 billion a day, according to 2022 data. Its key trading pairs are GBP/USD, also known as ‘Cable’, which accounts for 11% of FX, GBP/JPY, or the ‘Dragon’ as it is known by traders (3%), and EUR/GBP (2%). The Pound Sterling is issued by the Bank of England (BoE).

The single most important factor influencing the value of the Pound Sterling is monetary policy decided by the Bank of England. The BoE bases its decisions on whether it has achieved its primary goal of “price stability” – a steady inflation rate of around 2%. Its primary tool for achieving this is the adjustment of interest rates. When inflation is too high, the BoE will try to rein it in by raising interest rates, making it more expensive for people and businesses to access credit. This is generally positive for GBP, as higher interest rates make the UK a more attractive place for global investors to park their money. When inflation falls too low it is a sign economic growth is slowing. In this scenario, the BoE will consider lowering interest rates to cheapen credit so businesses will borrow more to invest in growth-generating projects.

Data releases gauge the health of the economy and can impact the value of the Pound Sterling. Indicators such as GDP, Manufacturing and Services PMIs, and employment can all influence the direction of the GBP. A strong economy is good for Sterling. Not only does it attract more foreign investment but it may encourage the BoE to put up interest rates, which will directly strengthen GBP. Otherwise, if economic data is weak, the Pound Sterling is likely to fall.

Another significant data release for the Pound Sterling is the Trade Balance. This indicator measures the difference between what a country earns from its exports and what it spends on imports over a given period. If a country produces highly sought-after exports, its currency will benefit purely from the extra demand created from foreign buyers seeking to purchase these goods. Therefore, a positive net Trade Balance strengthens a currency and vice versa for a negative balance.

Ripple Analysts See 100x Potential as JetBolt Presale Skyrockets » The Merkle News

By |2024-10-22T16:38:29+03:00October 22, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

All eyes are on Ripple’s XRP as the cryptocurrency tries to recover from its recent downtrend. Amidst XRP plunging below $0.55, some analysts see it can bounce back and stage a 100x rally.

Meanwhile, a new contender, JetBolt (JBOLT), is becoming the topic of discussion in the crypto space. Whales are flocking to its trending presale, which saw over 40 million tokens sold in two months since its presale started.

Will XRP recover from the downturn and reach 100x, or will JetBolt steal the show with its presale, which is gaining massive traction?

Is XRP Bracing for a 100x Breakout?

Ripple’s XRP continues to show a lack of momentum as it faces legal challenges, most notably its ongoing battle with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). These hurdles have undoubtedly triggered price declines to XRP. As of late, XRP is trading at $0.5467, reflecting an 8% dip over the past month.

Despite XRP plummeting below the $0.60 mark, some analysts believe the cryptocurrency could see a major breakout. Some market experts suggest the latest surge in global liquidity could fuel XRP rallies. Historically, the surges happened in the 2017-2018 and 2020-2021 cycles, and the current price action of XRP is gearing up for a similar surge for the 2024-2025 cycle.

Some industry experts suggest XRP will show further gains if a decisive break above the $0.55 resistance level happens. However, the ongoing SEC case against Ripple adds an element of uncertainty, with some market players seeing the legal tussle as a major roadblock to XRP’s 100x breakout.

Some crypto insiders argue that if XRP successfully overcomes its ongoing legal controversies, the price of XRP will still not be able to see a massive price appreciation as high as 100x. While a favorable ruling can help XRP’s price move upwards, a surge to 100x is far-fetched as XRP must meet specific market conditions for the gigantic price leap to happen.

While some crypto whales await XRP’s signs of recovery, some are starting to focus their attention on next-gen altcoins that offer revolutionary features and cutting-edge solutions. One such coin that’s making waves lately is JetBolt (JBOLT).

JetBolt Presale Skyrockets as Whale Activity Surges

As XRP aims for a potential breakout or at least a sign of recovery, blockchain whales have started to explore beyond traditional tokens. JetBolt (JBOLT), a new altcoin with fresh and unique features, captivates the attention of whales seeking high-potential coins and crypto projects.

JetBolt offers forward-thinking features for crypto users. One notable feature of JetBolt is zero-gas technology, which empowers users to carry out transactions without paying expensive gas fees. This feature is particularly attractive for crypto whales who waste tons of profits on gas fees, as well as developers who are now able to create dApps without gas fees.

As buyers become increasingly drawn to crypto projects that push technological boundaries, JetBolt’s AI-powered news and insights tool captures the eyes of crypto whales. This tool helps token holders stay abreast of current blockchain trends and updates by harnessing the power of AI technology.

JetBolt is gaining massive traction as it offers exciting and special perks to its early buyers. One of these benefits is the 25% additional tokens that early adopters can enjoy upon purchasing JetBolt (JBOLT) tokens in batches. This is a huge plus for newcomers who want to acquire more tokens in one go or for large traders who practice accumulating tokens in bundles.

JetBolt’s features and capacity to sell over 40 million tokens just over two months after its presale gives crypto enthusiasts a reason to wonder whether this new altcoin could be the next big thing.

Ripple Analysts See 100x Potential as JetBolt Presale Skyrockets » The Merkle News

Conclusion — XRP Eyes 100x Growth While JetBolt Presale Skyrockets

As XRP faces legal headwinds, its price seems to show little movement lately. While some analysts predict XRP can pump 100x, its current performance and on-activity are not enough to give the boost it needs for exponential gains. However, as whales diversify away from older-gen tokens, JetBolt shines with its presale, which has been gaining huge attention lately. With whale activity continuing to surge, JetBolt stands out as one of the best crypto presales to watch this year.

The Best Tea for Brain Health

Many tea varieties have been shown to improve markers of brain health, but green tea stands out as the clear winner.

To begin with, green tea contains polyphenols, which are considered a type of antioxidant, says Coleen Wysocki, M.S., RDN, owner of Zest Nutrition. Although there are thousands of polyphenols, “one of those types is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is found in green tea,” she says. Wysocki points to one systematic review and meta-analysis that shows that polyphenols may support working and long-term memory, especially in middle-aged and older adults.

“Green tea’s flavonoids help new brain cells grow, keeping current brain cells healthy and promoting blood flow to the part of the brain that nourishes our emotional regulation center,” says Maggie Moon, M.S., RD, a Los Angeles-based registered dietitian and author of The MIND Diet: 2nd Edition. Flavonoids are the group of polyphenols that include EGCG.

Green tea may also improve mood, exhibiting antidepressant and anti-anxiety qualities. One factor may be the presence of L-theanine, an amino acid naturally found in the leaves of green tea. L-theanine has been associated with improvements in anxiety and may improve stress resilience.

Of course, it’s important to remember that the studies surrounding green tea are indicationsof green tea’s potential. Therefore, if you’re experiencing health issues, it’s important to seek medical help and ask your health care provider if adding green tea to your diet is right for you.

How to Enjoy Green Tea

Green tea can be added to your diet in a variety of ways, but it’s important to remember that, as with other beverages on grocery store shelves, some companies pump their products full of excess sugar. Therefore, it’s important to consume green tea in a way that works with—not against—your health.

One of the easiest ways to drink green tea is simply as traditional hot tea. Whether you purchase individually bagged or loose-leaf green tea, remember to look out for brands that use high-quality ingredients. We lay this out for you in our rating of the 8 Best Green Teas.

Green tea can be consumed either cold or hot. Making a healthy, slightly sweet cup of hot green tea is easy with this Warm Honey Green Tea recipe. If you’re more partial to cold green tea, especially during the warmer months, you can skip the drink aisle and make this Iced Mint Green Tea. Additionally, green tea can be easily added to any of your favorite beverages, including a matcha latte or even a morning smoothie.

Other Strategies for Brain Health

Many foods may support brain health outside of green tea. If you want to reap maximum brain-health benefits, it’s a good idea to take a look at your diet as a whole. Small changes in your daily food practices can make a difference.

Consume Low-Mercury Seafood

Seafood, especially oily coldwater fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines, provides impressive amounts of DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids. These nutrients are linked to improved cognition in otherwise-healthy individuals. Choosing fish low in mercury ensures that you gain the benefits of these nutrients without the adverse effects associated with mercury exposure, thus supporting overall brain health. Lower-mercury seafood options include salmon, sardines and anchovies.

Eat More Berries

Fruit intake is important to any well-balanced diet, but berries take the cake in terms of cognitive health. Berries may help ward off age-related cognitive decline, and one review showed that berries may help support certain areas of cognitive function and memory performance. Try our Strawberry-Blueberry-Banana Smoothie to get a boost of berries.

Nibble on Some Dark Chocolate

When eaten in moderation, dark chocolate has been shown to decrease both physical and mental fatigue, thanks to its small amounts of caffeine. Like green tea, it also boasts flavonoids. Look for dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa content for the most health benefits. Dark Chocolate Cashew Clusters make for a sweet snack that can help protect your body with those impressive flavonoids.

Include Eggs in Your Diet

Research suggests that eating more than one egg per week is associated with a 47% reduction in the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease compared to no egg consumption. (This study was partly funded by the American Egg Board’s Egg Nutrition Center.) Whole eggs, with most of their nutrients found in the egg yolk, are a rich source of choline and contribute other nutrients known for supporting brain function, including the omega-3 fatty acid DHA, as well as lutein.

Snack on Nuts and Seeds

Nuts and seeds are not only great parfait toppings, but they contain vitamin E, an oft-overlooked nutrient. Vitamin E may help slow mild cognitive impairment due to the nutrient’s antioxidant properties. Check out our healthy nuts and seed recipes for a slew of ways to include these nutrient-dense foods in your diet.

The Bottom Line

Just one cup of green tea carries within it an abundance of nutrients that aid in brain health. From anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to mood stabilizers, green tea is good for your brainpower. Whether you’re enjoying your green tea hot or iced, you can reap the benefits of this tasty drink. Our advice? Enjoy with cozy slippers.

  • The dollar traded near an over 2-month high against its peers.
  • Traders price an 89% chance of a 25-bps Fed rate cut in November.
  • Economists expect the next BoJ rate hike in March next year.

The USD/JPY price analysis shows that the bets for a Trump win are rising, boosting the dollar against the yen two weeks before the presidential election. Meanwhile, Japan’s general election might also affect the yen by changing the Bank of Japan’s policy outlook.

The dollar extended recent gains to trade near an over 2-month high against its peers. Bets ahead of the November US presidential election show Trump in the lead, supporting the dollar. A Trump win is bullish for the dollar, increasing the likelihood of high interest rates. However, the race is tight, and things might change in the time before the election.

At the same time, markets are still digesting the new outlook for a gradual Fed rate-cutting cycle. A few weeks back, rate cut expectations indicated a 50-bps cut in November. However, that quickly changed with incoming data. Currently, there is an 89% chance of a 25-bps rate cut in November.

The US will release business activity data before the policy meeting to show the state of the manufacturing and services sectors.

Meanwhile, in Japan, the upcoming October 27th general election could change the majority in parliament and affect Ishiba’s position. Such changes could also change the outlook for monetary policy in Japan. The Bank of Japan has paused after implementing its first rate hike in March. Moreover, a recent Reuters poll showed that most economists expect the next rate hike to be in March next year.

USD/JPY key events today

There won’t be any high-impact reports from the US or Japan today. Therefore, the dollar might extend its rally.

Breast Cancer Is Striking Younger Women: A Wake-Up Call

By |2024-10-22T14:31:10+03:00October 22, 2024|Fitness News, News|0 Comments

In 2022, about 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer worldwide, and 670,000 died. Earlier, cases of breast cancer were usually reported in women above 50. However, there is now a rise in breast cancer among women in their 20s and 30s.

General recommendations for when women should start breast cancer screening:

  • Ages 40-44: Screening with mammograms is optional. Women can choose to start screening if they wish, after discussing the risks and benefits with their healthcare provider.
  • Ages 45-54: It is recommended to start annual mammograms.
  • Ages 55 and older: Mammograms can be done every two years, though women may choose to continue annual screening.

The reason why more women younger than 50 are getting breast cancer is not clear, but according to Dr. Sonya Reid, a breast medical oncologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center it’s likely due to modifiable risk factors such as environmental exposures in food, air or water, rising rates of obesity and sedentary lifestyle.

Breast Cancer Is Striking Younger Women: A Wake-Up Call

Possible Reasons for Rise of Breast Cancer in Younger Women:

  • Genetic predisposition: Family history and inherited mutations, especially in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, significantly increase the risk of breast cancer in younger women.
  • Hormonal factors: Early menstruation (before age 12), late menopause, or the use of hormonal contraceptives for extended periods may increase the risk due to longer exposure to estrogen.
  • Diet and Obesity: Higher rates of obesity and consumption of high-fat diets have been linked to increased breast cancer risk. Excess body fat can lead to higher estrogen levels, which in turn increases the risk of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer.
  • Alcohol consumption: Excessive alcohol intake can raise estrogen levels and contribute to breast cancer risk. Alcohol can raise estrogen and other hormone levels in the body, which can stimulate the growth of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer cells. The more alcohol a woman consumes, the higher her risk of developing breast cancer, with even moderate drinking (one drink per day) slightly increasing the risk.
  • Sedentary lifestyle: Lack of physical activity is associated with a higher risk of developing breast cancer.
  • Environmental exposures: Younger generations may be exposed to more environmental toxins and endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) found in plastics, personal care products, and pesticides, which could contribute to an elevated risk.
  • Delayed childbirth: Women today often delay childbirth, and having a first child after age 30 or not having children at all may increase the risk, as earlier pregnancies and breastfeeding have protective effects.
  • Increased awareness and screening: Improved awareness and access to better diagnostic technologies, such as mammography and genetic testing, may lead to earlier detection of breast cancer cases in younger women.
  • Stress and mental health: Some studies suggest that chronic stress and poor mental health might contribute to the development of breast cancer. Chronic stress can lead to elevated levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, which may interfere with immune function and affect the body’s ability to regulate cell growth and repair. Prolonged stress may also influence other hormones like estrogen, which is linked to hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer.

With researches still going on to fully understand why breast cancer rates are rising in younger women, these factors offer a potential explanation.
