    If DOGE breaks above the 13-day SMA at $0.20958, this could open the path toward a retest of the $0.24 resistance zone and confirm a full recovery from the recent downtrend.

    XAU/USD’s recovery stalls ahead of $3,400

    Spot Gold extended its Friday recovery, peaking at $3,385.41 after Wall Street’s opening. The US Dollar (USD) maintained the sour tone triggered by dismal United States (US) employment-related data, which fueled hopes the Federal Reserve (Fed) could trim the benchmark interest rate when it meets in September.

    Additionally, US President Donald Trump announced it will “substantially” raise tariffs on India amid the latter buying Russian oil and selling it into the Open Market, according to a post shared in Truth Social. Earlier in the day, Trump claimed the July Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) was rigged, to make “a great Republican Success look less stellar!!!,” once again, subtly threatening to replace Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

    Data-wise, the US reported that June Factory Orders shrank by 4.8% slightly better than the 4.9% decline anticipated, although much worse than the May 8.3% advance. Other than that, financial markets seem to have finished digesting the poor employment report, with global stocks turning green.

    The focus on Tuesday will be on the US ISM Services Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI). The index is foreseen at 51.5 in July, improving from the 50.8 posted in June.

    XAU/USD short-term technical outlook

    The daily chart for XAU/USD shows bulls hold the grip, but lack conviction. Gold trades above all its moving averages, with a flat 20 Simple Moving Average (SMA) providing intraday support at around $3,345. The 100 and 200 SMAs, in the meantime, maintain their upward slopes below the shorter one. Technical indicators, however, have lost their bullish strength within neutral levels, barely holding above their midlines.

    The XAU/USD pair trades well above all its moving averages in the 4-hour chart, with a bullish 20 SMA advancing below directionless 100 and 200 SMAs. Technical indicators, in the meantime, have lost their upward strength, but hold near overbought readings. The 100 SMA, in the meantime, lies at around $3,348, reinforcing the support area.

    The Tea Swap You Need During The US Matcha Shortage

    Matcha’s surge in popularity has made it the word on everyone’s lips in recent years, with the United States leading the charge as the largest powdered green tea exporter from Japan in the world. You’ll see it everywhere, from Starbucks’ latest creation to displays front and center at the grocery store — but it’s facing a few problems that are leading to shortages and/or potential shortages. While matcha’s prices are expected to hike due to both impending tariffs and supply chain issues, fans of the frothy, foamy drink can turn to matcha’s lesser-known cousin: hojicha. Hojicha is not all that different from matcha, since both teas are made from the green tea plant known as Camellia sinensis.

    But hojicha is technically created from bancha leaves, a lower-grade leaf that some people prefer for the milder taste it takes on after roasting. It’s said to taste smoky and sweet, having a flavor similar to oolong tea with a light brown color. It typically contains no additives and slightly less caffeine. The hardy nature of hojicha tea means that it’s less likely to be affected by current matcha shortages, since hojicha is created by roasting older green tea leaves and their often-undesirable components. What makes hojicha green tea unique is that it’s a relatively new invention, hitting markets in Japan in the 1920s as an economical way to get a second life out of green tea plants, while making using of all of the leftover parts, such as twigs, stems, and stalks.

    Hojicha Is Here To Save The Day

    Hojicha comes in loose leaf form or a finely-ground powder, similar to matcha but lacking the signature bright green color. Like matcha, it’s traditionally prepared using specialized utensils, but you can also make it without a bamboo whisk. From plant to teacup, it’s typically created by steaming bancha or sencha leaves — along with other plant parts — and roasting them in a porcelain teapot over a charcoal fire, which gives the tea its smoky flavor. With the demand for matcha at an all-time high, hojicha has become a more available and economically-friendly option, with a 1.76-ounce container of high-grade matcha powder currently going for about $29.99 on Amazon, while a 1.76-ounce container of hojicha powder goes for about $9.99.

    Matcha’s shortage in the U.S. has a lot to do with farming issues in Japan, where climate change is affecting the successful production rates of various Camellia sinensis plants. The older population of farmers in Japan is also struggling to keep up with the sudden increase in demand and convert their farms to tencha/sencha plant-based operations, as opposed to other traditionally-farmed teas (such as these 12 types of Japanese tea). Not to mention, a recent settlement of a 15% tariff on all Japanese exports created by President Trump is expected to impact matcha sales even further, with the burden of a higher cost predicted to fall on American consumers. While tariffs can still impact the price of exported hojicha from Japan, at least this tea is a bit more resilient.

    CAR T Cell Therapy 101

    Let’s take a minute to give props to your immune system.

    If you’re not exactly sure what your immune system does, think of it like the mama bear of your body. The cells, tissues and organs that make up your immune system fiercely protect your body against threats (germs, viruses, etc.) and attack anything that’s potentially harmful.

    Your immune system can also be a powerful weapon against cancer, thanks to a treatment option called immunotherapy. The treatments involve boosting or changing how the immune system works so it can find and destroy cancer cells.

    There are different types of immunotherapy depending on the condition and diagnosis. One of the most innovative options out there is called chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, which is typically used after other therapies have been tried first.

    The treatment is unique compared to other cancer treatments because it uses the body’s T cells — a type of white blood cell — to help fight against the cancer.

    CAR T-cell therapy isn’t an option for all cancers, but it can help people with certain blood cancers — even advanced cases of blood cancer — achieve “no evidence of disease” (a term used when cancer can no longer be detected in the body).

    What is CAR T-cell therapy?

    Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is a type of immunotherapy created from the living T cells of the person with cancer.

    The T cells are a type of white blood cell and the main slayers of disease and infected cells. The natural T cells in people with cancer aren’t the best at finding and fighting cancer cells, so CAR T-cell therapy alters the T cells in a lab so they can better search and destroy the cancer.

    How CAR T-cell therapy works

    CAR T-cell therapy requires a few different steps. First, blood is collected from the patient via two IV lines — one to remove the blood and separate the white blood cells — and one to put the blood back into the body.

    From there, T cells are separated from other white blood cells and genetically engineered in a lab. Special genes called chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) — hence the name — are added to the surface of the T cells.

    After the T cells are modified, they’re grown and multiplied to create hundreds of millions of cells that are infused into the person with cancer.

    The modified cells are then able to connect to antigen proteins on cancer cells and attack the cancer.

    CAR T-cell prep and infusion

    The process from the first blood collection to infusion can take up to five weeks.

    In the weeks before the infusion, some people may have chemotherapy to weaken the immune system to give the modified T cells a better chance to fight the cancer.

    When it’s time, CAR T-cell therapy is given in a single infusion via IV — a process that usually lasts around an hour.

    CAR T-cell therapy side effects

    Like all cancer treatments, CAR T-cell therapy can have a range of side effects, some of which can be severe, including infection and the death of B cells, which produce antibodies.

    The good news is that research shows that the benefits of these treatments outweigh their risks. As a result, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has removed the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) requirements, which are protocols that are put in place to manage risks, from the approved CAR T-cell immunotherapies.

    When the CAR T cells multiply, they can release chemicals in the blood (cytokines) that can ramp up the immune system and cause possibly life-threatening issues. This is called cytokine release syndrome (CRS).

    The side effects of CRS can include:

    • High fever and chills
    • Breathing problems
    • Dizziness
    • Fatigue
    • Headache attacks
    • Joint pain
    • Muscle pain
    • Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea
    • Rapid heartbeat

    CAR T-cell therapy may also affect the nervous system and lead to immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS). The symptoms of the condition can include:

    • Confusion
    • Changes in consciousness
    • Headache attacks
    • Loss of balance
    • Tremors
    • Trouble speaking or understanding
    • Seizures

    Other side effects of CAR T-cell therapy can include:

    • Low levels of minerals in the blood
    • Allergic reaction during the infusion
    • Weakened immune system
    • Low blood cell counts
    • Increased risk for other blood cancers

    What are CAR T-cell therapies approved for?

    CAR T-cell therapies were first approved by the FDA in 2017 for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Today, CAR T-cell therapy is also approved to treat adults.

    In addition to acute lymphoblastic leukemia, CAR T-cell therapy can be used to treat other types of blood cancer. These can include:

    • Multiple myeloma
    • High-grade B-cell lymphoma
    • Follicular lymphoma
    • Primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma
    • Mantle cell lymphoma

    Given the success with blood cancers, a number of studies are now looking at CAR T-cell therapy for solid tumor cancers, such as brain, pancreatic, colorectal and triple negative breast cancer, as well as for autoimmune diseases (e.g., lupus, multiple sclerosis), cardiac and liver fibrosis, HIV, and Type 1 diabetes.

    If I have cancer, how do I know if I’m eligible for CAR T-cell therapy?

    CAR T-cell therapies are used to help treat blood cancer that has returned (relapsed) or blood cancer that hasn’t responded to previous treatments. If you have blood cancer, you should talk to your HCP to see if you’re a candidate.

    Does insurance cover CAR T-cell therapy?

    Many insurance plans cover CAR T-cell therapy, but the cost of treatment varies depending on the plan, and prior authorization may be required.

    Medicare covers FDA-approved CAR T-cell therapy, and Medicaid may also cover it. Coverage can vary depending on the state.

    For people who don’t have insurance or need financial assistance, CAR T-cell treatment centers and medication manufacturers may help with treatment costs and travel expenses like transportation, meals and lodging. Nonprofit organizations like The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society may offer financial support options too.

    Access to CAR T-cell therapy

    When the FDA removed the REMS requirement for six approved CAR T-cell therapies last month, the move also made the potentially life-saving treatments easier to access.

    Without the REMS requirement, hospitals and clinics no longer need to have a certification to administer the treatments.

    Also good to note: The FDA cut down the time people must wait to drive after treatment from eight weeks to two weeks. And the FDA shortened the requirement to stay near a healthcare facility from four weeks to two weeks.

    These changes help offer more flexibility and opportunities for treatment.

    XAG/USD flat lines around $37.00; bearish potential seems intact

    Silver (XAG/USD) struggles to capitalize on Friday’s modest recovery gains and oscillates in a range at the start of a new week as softer US NFP-inspired US Dollar (USD) selling now seems to have abated. The white metal currently trades around the $37.00 mark and remains within striking distance of a four-week low touched last Thursday.

    From a technical perspective, this week’s breakdown below a nearly two-month-old ascending channel support, which coincided with the 200-period Simple Moving Average (SMA) on the 4-hour chart, was seen as a key trigger for the XAG/USD bears. This, along with negative oscillators on daily/4-hour charts, suggests that the path of least resistance for the commodity remains to the downside.

    Hence, any subsequent recovery is more likely to confront a stiff barrier near the $37.35 region (200-period SMA on the 4-hour chart). This is followed by the ascending channel support breakpoint, around the $37.60 region, which should act as a pivotal point, which, if cleared, might trigger a short-covering rally and allow the XAG/USD to climb to the $38.00 mark en route to the $38.30-$38.35 region.

    On the flip side, the multi-week low, around the $36.20 area, now seems to protect the immediate downside ahead of the $36.00 round figure. Some follow-through selling will reaffirm the negative bias and drag the XAG/USD to the next relevant support near the $35.50 zone. The downward trajectory could extend further towards challenging the $35.00 psychological mark.

    Silver is a precious metal highly traded among investors. It has been historically used as a store of value and a medium of exchange. Although less popular than Gold, traders may turn to Silver to diversify their investment portfolio, for its intrinsic value or as a potential hedge during high-inflation periods. Investors can buy physical Silver, in coins or in bars, or trade it through vehicles such as Exchange Traded Funds, which track its price on international markets.

    Silver prices can move due to a wide range of factors. Geopolitical instability or fears of a deep recession can make Silver price escalate due to its safe-haven status, although to a lesser extent than Gold’s. As a yieldless asset, Silver tends to rise with lower interest rates. Its moves also depend on how the US Dollar (USD) behaves as the asset is priced in dollars (XAG/USD). A strong Dollar tends to keep the price of Silver at bay, whereas a weaker Dollar is likely to propel prices up. Other factors such as investment demand, mining supply – Silver is much more abundant than Gold – and recycling rates can also affect prices.
