USD/JPY Bullish Breakout Rejected…So Far

By |2025-01-08T02:21:10+02:00January 8, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

USD/JPY Key Takeaways

  • Strong ISM and JOLTS surveys in the morning were followed by a mediocre bond auction this afternoon.
  • The auction showed below-average demand for US Treasuries, potentially signaling fear about the ongoing deficit and potential for inflation to reaccelerate.
  • USD/JPY is essentially unchanged on the day, with tomorrow’s ADP and initial jobless claims reports looming as the next potential injection of volatility into the pair

It’s been a mixed day for US data, with better-than-expected readings on the ISM Services PMI and JOLTS Job Openings surveys raising optimism about the US economy before a mediocre 10-year treasury bond auction in the early afternoon.

The auction showed a 2bps “tail”, indicating less demand for the bonds than expected, and dealers were obligated to take on 15.6% of the issue, above the 13.1% average over the last six months. All in all, the auction showed below-average demand for the benchmark US Treasury bond, potentially signaling fear about the ongoing deficit and potential for inflation to reaccelerate.

Stock indices have seen the morning’s gains evaporate, with the 10yr yield rising to 4.69%, its highest level since last April. More to the point for FX traders, the US dollar is edging higher against most of its major rivals, though the moves are fairly limited as we go to press.

Japanese Yen Technical Analysis – USD/JPY Daily Chart

japanese_yen_technical_analysis_usdjpy_01072025

Source: TradingView, StoneX.

Looking at the chart of USD/JPY, the pair attempted a breakout to 6-month highs above 158.00 on the back of this morning’s data releases before reversing back into the holiday period trading range in short order.

Now, rates are essentially unchanged on the day, with tomorrow’s ADP and initial jobless claims reports looming as the next potential injection of volatility into the pair. A confirmed bullish breakout above the top of the range could target 160.00 in short order, whereas a bearish breakdown could open the door for a deeper retracement toward 154.00.

Industry Leaders Reveal Shocking Test Results in Groundbreaking Podcast

TEMPE, Ariz., Jan. 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Nootropics Depot Reveals Surprising Turkesterone Test Results in Podcast with Greg Doucette. Nootropics Depot, a leading manufacturer of high-quality dietary supplements, has released a podcast featuring IFBB pro bodybuilder Greg Doucette, founder of HTLT Supplements. The podcast, titled “The Turkesterone Scandal Just Got Deeper,” delves into the controversial 2022 turkesterone scandal that rocked the bodybuilding supplement industry, and reveals new lab test results showing the state of the turkesterone products on the market today.

Greg Doucette’s candid discussion of turkesterone testing and the steps taken to rectify the situation

Key takeaways from the podcast include:

  1. Extensive testing of turkesterone products on the market showed that many products claiming high levels of turkesterone actually contained little to no turkesterone at all.
  2. Most products on the market that claim to be Ajuga turkestanica do not appear to match that plant at all. In fact, HPTLC testing shows most products more closely match the chromatographic profile of Cyanotis arachnoidea, the more common source of beta-ecdysterone.
  3. Greg Doucette’s candid discussion of how HTLT initially failed turkesterone testing due to third-party lab errors, and the steps taken to rectify the situation.
  4. The stark difference in quality between Chinese and Uzbek turkesterone sources, with many products on the market containing little to no actual turkesterone.
  5. HTLT’s efforts to sourcing genuine Ajuga turkestanica from Uzbekistan, and their work with Nootropics Depot to validate the lab testing methods.
  6. The discussion of using turkesterone as a quality control marker for standardization of Ajuga turkestanica, and whether or not it is the primary active compound in the plant.
  7. A call for greater transparency and integrity within the supplement industry, where supplement brands take lab testing and quality control seriously, to ensure consumers are getting the products they think they are.

Paul Eftang, CEO of Nootropics Depot, stated, “Many consumers don’t realize the appalling lack of lab testing and quality control in the supplement industry. These are health products that you are putting into your body. You have a right to know that they are what the brands claim them to be, and that the companies making them have taken the necessary steps to ensure that. Unfortunately, that is the exception to the rule. We have tested thousands of samples from products all across this industry. Seeing failing result after failing result has just underscored why our mission is so crucial. If brands do not take these things seriously, the good actors in this industry have to start forcing them to. HTLT took our original lab testing results seriously, and made the hard choice to advance their science. Hopefully this will be the start to more brands following suit. Supplement consumers deserve to be able to trust the products they buy.”

The podcast also revealed HTLT’s plans for an expedition to Uzbekistan to assess Ajuga turkestanica reserves and explore sustainable cultivation methods, highlighting the importance of responsible sourcing and conservation efforts in the supplement industry.

Greg Doucette commented, “I’m proud that we’ve gone through all the processes to actually get turkesterone sourced properly and proven it. This podcast represents a significant step forward in educating consumers and holding the industry accountable.”

The full podcast, complete with detailed test results and scientific explanations, is available on Nootropics Depot’s website and major podcast platforms.

SOL holds $205 support as crypto market tumbles on US jobs data

By |2025-01-08T02:15:52+02:00January 8, 2025|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

  • Solana price plunges 6.4% to find support at $205 on Tuesday, stronger than expected US jobs data sparked rapid liquidations across markets.
  • Solana recorded 5 million daily first signers on Monday, signaling persistent network growth.
  • The rising popularity of crypto AI agent memes like Fartcoin and Pudgy Penguins has accelerated Solana user acquisition rate.

Solana price held firmly above $205 mark on Tuesday as hawkish undertones in the latest US JOLTs jobs sparked bearish market reactions. Can Solana’s rising network growth provide a buffer for SOL spot prices against rising volatility?

Solana price holds $200 support amid crypto market pullback

Solana price experienced intense volatility as the global crypto market’s positive start to 2025 hit a snag on Tuesday.

The crypto market experienced a considerable pullback as the US JOLTs jobs data published on Tuesday showed a stronger than expected labor market, sparking bearish reactions among traders.

Solana Price Action (SOLUSD)

Solana price plunged 6% to settle at $204 at press time on Tuesday, having opened trading at $218.

Market reports show that SOL price has shown considerable resilience compared to other mega cap assets like Avalanche and Chainlink, which suffered losses in excess of 10% on the day.

Solana continues to find buyers as AI agent rave intensifies

Despite volatile crypto spot prices, the Solana blockchain network continues to attract a steady flow of new investors.

Thanks to rising popularity of the crypto AI agent narrative, Solana-hosted projects like Pudgy Penguins and Fartcoin (FART) have dominated social discourse, attracting new entrants into the SOL ecosystem.

In confirmation of this trend, Hellomoon’s Daily First Signers Chart below tracks the total number of unique wallets or users interacting with a particular protocol, blockchain, or application for the first time. This metric provides insights into Solana network growth, adoption and user engagement trends.

Solana Daily First Signers | Source: HelloMooon

The latest data shows Solana attracted 5 million Daily First Signers on January 6, its highest in over two weeks, dating back to December 19.

This signals a considerable number of new users join the Solana network, despite crypto markets wobbling in the last 24 hours.

The increased capital inflows from new entrants can help provide a buffer for SOL spot prices amid bearish tailwinds from the hawkish readings in US jobs data.

This partly explains why SOL bulls have managed to keep its daily time frame losses subdued at 6%, avoiding a major breakdown below the $200 support level.

Solana Price Forecast: Major rebound ahead if $200 support holds

The SOL/USD daily chart shows Solana declining 6.48% today to $204, with the $200 support in focus. Bollinger Bands (BB) indicate a contraction, suggesting reduced volatility. Price action remains below the upper BB ($220.52) but above the lower band ($174.15), hinting at potential stabilization.

Solana Price Forecast | SOLUSD

The Total Strength Index (TSI) at 0.77 reflects bullish momentum despite today’s drop.

If $200 holds, buyers may attempt recovery, targeting the $220 resistance marked by the 50-day Moving Average (blue). A breakout above could signal renewed bullish momentum toward $240.

On the flip side major bearish risks could emerge if the $200 support caves.

In this scenario sellers may push prices toward $174, the lower BB boundary.

Green tea consumption and cerebral white matter lesions in community-dwelling older adults without dementia

By |2025-01-08T00:15:36+02:00January 8, 2025|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

Study population

Among the 11,410 participants in the JPSC-AD study aged ≥ 65 years, 9646 underwent three-dimensional T1-weighted MRI. After excluding 167 participants who did not pass the quality control of the FreeSurfer analysis; 103 participants who did not have hippocampal measurement data; 341 participants without available data on green tea, black tea, and/or coffee intake; and 372 participants with dementia at baseline, 8766 participants were enrolled in the study (Fig. 1).

Ethical approvals and patient consents

This study was approved by the Kyushu University Institutional Review Board for clinical research (approval number 686-10) and by each of the local ethics committee of the eight research institutes: Kanazawa University (approval numbers 2185 and 437), Hirosaki University (approval number 2019-064-3), Iwate Medical University (approval number HG2020-017), Keio University School of Medicine (approval number 20160214), Matsue Medical Center (approval number H28-14), Ehime University (approval numbers 1610004 and 2210016), Kumamoto University (approval number 333), and Tohoku University (approval number 2021-1-245). This study complied with the principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants.

Brain MRI analysis

The MRI equipment was set to T1-weighted imaging parameters according to the brain MRI protocol for the Alzheimer Disease Neuroimaging Initiative study38. Segmentation and volume measurements of cortical and subcortical brain structures, including WMLV, HV, and eTIV, were performed automatically using FreeSurfer (version 7.0; http://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu). TBV was calculated from brain segmentation volumes without ventricles. Cortical parcellation was performed using the Desikan-Killiany atlas39.

To adjust for head size, TBV, HV, and WMLV were calculated as percentages of eTIV (i.e., TBV-to-eTIV ratio (TBV/eTIV) [%], HV-to-eTIV ratio (HV/eTIV) [%], and WMLV-to-eTIV ratio (WMLV/eTIV) [%]).

Dietary survey

The daily intake of green tea and coffee was calculated based on FFQ. Dietary surveys, using a weighing and dietary recording method to measure the average intake of each food and nutrient, were performed for 4 consecutive days (three weekdays and one weekend day) over 16 days across all four seasons. The participants completed FFQ at a health center or at home and were provided with a dietary recording form, recording manual, digital weighing scale, measuring spoons, camera photography scale (standard graphic tool used in the National Health and Nutrition Survey), instant camera (for those unable to take pictures with mobiles or smartphones), and instructions on usage. Nutritional values were calculated according to the Japanese Standard Tables of Food Composition, 2015 (7th revision). The validity of the intake data was evaluated using Pearson’s correlation coefficients. The daily intake of green tea and coffee was classified into four groups: 0–200, 201–400, 401–600 and ≥ 601 ml, with one glass being approximately 200 ml.

Other risk factor measurements

Each participant completed a self-administered questionnaire collecting sociodemographic data (age, sex, and educational level), medical history (diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and past history of stroke), smoking and drinking habits, and regular exercise (defined as physical activity specifically undertaken for at least 30 min twice per week over the most recent year or longer). Completed questionnaires were reviewed by trained researchers to identify inconsistent or unanswered items. Depressive symptoms were evaluated using GDS (short form)40 cognitive function was evaluated using MMSE. The details have been previously described16. Blood pressure was measured thrice using a sphygmomanometer with intervals of at least 5 min, and the average of the three measurements was used for the analysis. Electrocardiographic abnormalities were defined as one or more of the following: left ventricular hypertrophy (Minnesota Code, 3-1), atrial flutter/fibrillation (8-3), and ST-segment depression (4-1, 2, 3). Hypertension was defined as blood pressure levels of ≥ 140/90 mmHg or the current use of antihypertensive agents. BMI (kg/m2) was used as an indicator of obesity. Serum HDL and LDL cholesterol levels were enzymatically measured17. ApoE polymorphisms were identified using a multiplex PCR-based targeted sequencing method, with two single-nucleotide polymorphisms (rs429358 and rs7412) genotyping, as previously reported41.

Statistical analyses

Clinical characteristics were evaluated using the t-test, Jonckheere-Terpstra test, chi-square test, or Mantel-Haenszel test for continuous and categorical variables. Analysis of covariance was performed to estimate and compare the multivariate-adjusted values and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the TBV/eTIV, HV/eTIV, and WMLV/eTIV ratios. The WMLV/eTIV ratio was transformed using a common logarithm due to its skewed distribution. The shape of the associations of daily green tea consumption levels with the geometric mean of WMLV/eTIV among older adults without dementia in the multivariable-adjusted model was examined using a general linear model with restricted cubic splines, in which knots were positioned at the 5th, 35th, 65th, and 95th percentiles (0, 300, 600, and 1500 ml/day) of daily green tea consumption.

The association between daily green tea consumption and the WMLV/eTIV ratio relative to the reference value in older adults without dementia was also analyzed using multivariate-adjusted models. The reference value was set at 200 ml/day, which corresponds to one cup of green tea.

Model 1 was adjusted for age, sex, research site, and education level. Model 2 was further adjusted for hypertension, diabetes mellitus, ApoE ε4 allele, BMI, serum LDL and HDL cholesterol levels, smoking and drinking habits, electrocardiogram abnormalities, history of stroke, depressive symptoms (GDS score), cognitive function (MMSE score), and regular exercise. Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. All statistical analyses were performed using the SPSS software package (version 29; SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) and SAS version 9.4 (SAS Institute, Cary, NC).

After excluding 1519 participants with MCI at baseline, a sensitivity analysis was conducted for all participants. The relationship between green tea consumption and cerebral white matter lesions was also analyzed based on the presence or absence of the ApoE ε4 allele and depression.

Natural Gas Price Forecast: Declines Below Key Levels, Bears Regain Control

By |2025-01-07T23:28:45+02:00January 7, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

Bearish Reversal Triggers

The decline today triggered a bearish daily reversal on a drop below yesterday’s low of 3.50. And it sets up a potential continuation move to the downside as today’s high generated a lower swing high. Of course, follow through will be key. Note that natural gas may end the day below the 20-Day MA for only the second time since the 20-Day line was reclaimed in October. The first time was Friday. That information combined with today’s bearish reversal shows declining demand for natural gas and sellers getting more aggressive.

Between 3.74 and 3.33

The two key near-term price levels for natural gas are today’s high at 3.74, also a swing high, and last Friday’s low at 3.33, also a swing low. A rise above the 3.74 swing high would trigger a bullish reversal and show strength that may grow. Until then it looks like price behavior may be signaling a deeper correction. A drop below today’s low signals a weakness, with a bearish trend continuation signal generated on a drop below last week’s low of 3.33.

Deeper Correction Possible

Having said that, the recent trend high of 4.20 did reach a potential target zone that included the top channel line of a rising trend. Sellers clearly took back control from there leading to the first leg down (AB) from the top. It was followed by a two-day advance (BC) that likely ended today. This puts natural gas in prime position to keep falling. However, support levels noted above need to be broken first. As of today, the bearish correction has moved into the second leg down in a declining ABCD pattern.

Ethereum, Dogecoin & Cardano – American Wrap 07 January

By |2025-01-07T22:13:13+02:00January 7, 2025|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Ethereum (ETH) is down 6% on Tuesday after the recent general crypto market decline canceled out gains seen in the past five days. If ETH fails to bounce off the lower boundary support line of a symmetrical triangle pattern, it could crash to the $3,000 psychological level.

Cardano (ADA) loses 2% on Tuesday amidst profit-taking by traders. The altcoin’s large wallet investors are accumulating the token at a rapid pace. This is typically considered a bullish indicator for Cardano and could support a recovery.

Cardano

Dogecoin price consolidates below $0.40 on Tuesday, amid tailwinds from France’s President Emmanuel Macron raised election meddling allegations involving Elon Musk on Monday. DOGE traders have opened over $1.2 billion worth of new positions within 24 hours of the news. Is the DOGE price on the verge of abreakout to $1 or a reversal toward $0.30?

GBP/USD bullish bias remains intact ahead of US data

By |2025-01-07T20:18:05+02:00January 7, 2025|Forex News, News|0 Comments

GBP/USD Forecast: Bullish bias remains intact ahead of US data

GBP/USD capitalized on the broad-based US Dollar (USD) weakness and registered impressive gains on Monday. The pair continues to stretch higher in the European session on Tuesday and trades near the key resistance area at 1.2575.

The improving market mood made it difficult for the USD to find demand at the beginning of the week. Risk flows dominated the action in financial markets and triggered a USD selloff after the Washington Post reported that US President-elect Donald Trump’s aides were exploring tariff plans that would be applied to every country but only cover critical imports. Read more…

GBP/USD: To consolidate between 1.2450 and 1.2550 – UOB Group

Pound Sterling (GBP) is expected to consolidate in a range between 1.2450 and 1.2550. In the longer run, GBP is expected to trade in a range, likely between 1.2420 and 1.2620, UOB Group’s FX analysts Quek Ser Leang and Lee Sue Ann note.

24-HOUR VIEW: “GBP soared by 0.79% yesterday, closing at 1.2522. The rapid rise appears to be excessive. Today, instead of continuing to rise, GBP is more likely to consolidate, expected to be between 1.2450 and 1.2550.” Read more…

The 9 Best BCAA Supplements of 2025, Recommended by a Dietitian

By |2025-01-07T20:13:59+02:00January 7, 2025|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

We chose Transparent Labs BCAA Glutamine as the best BCAA powder because, in addition to containing 8 g of BCAAs in a 2:1:1 ratio (the highest dose of any BCAA supplement we reviewed), it also contains 5 g of L-glutamine (an amino acid), 1.5 g of vitamin C and 1 g of coconut water powder. This sets it apart from powders that contain only BCAAs, as L-glutamine may improve recovery and reduce muscle soreness (however, according to a small study of 16 participants, this effect may be greater in men than in women).

Additionally, a meta-analysis examining the effects of glutamine supplementation found that it was associated with significant weight loss.

Coconut water powder contains electrolytes to support hydration status. Plus, vitamin C, an antioxidant, supports the immune system.

Since athletes need to stay healthy for training and competition, this could be a beneficial addition to their routine.

We also love this product because it’s Informed Choice certified. These products are tested monthly on an undisclosed schedule to ensure they’re free of contaminants and banned substances.

Transparent Labs BCAA Glutamine comes in four flavors: Strawberry Lemonade, Tropical Punch, Blue Raspberry, and Sour Green Apple. While there’s no unflavored option, the variety of flavors should appeal to a wide range of taste preferences. It’s sweetened naturally with stevia, so those avoiding artificial sweeteners can use it, and it’s free of artificial colors.

Since it contains coconut (a type of tree nut), this product is not suitable for people with a tree nut allergy. But it’s gluten-free, and the BCAAs come from fermented microbial cultures, making it a vegan-friendly product that people with many different dietary needs can use.

This supplement was the priciest one on our list, at $1.33 per serving, but we feel that because it was also the supplement with the highest BCAA content on our list (at 8 g of BCAAs per serving), it’s worth the additional cost.
