The 10 Best Supplements to Take with Semaglutide Medication of 2024

By |2024-11-01T04:15:01+02:00November 1, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

Semaglutides, like Ozempic and Wegovy, act like the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) hormone to help manage blood sugar levels and support weight loss by enhancing insulin secretion, slowing gastric emptying, and reducing appetite. Therefore, side effects of taking these medications can include changes in your appetite and how your body responds to food.

Supplements like multivitamins, protein powders, fiber, and ginger can help fill nutrient gaps and minimize side effects with semiglutide medication. To give you the best recommendations for supplements to take with semiglutide, we meticulously went through the research, and the experts we interviewed gave us the supplements they recommend for their patients.

What Registered Dietitians Want You To Know

Types of Supplements: Supplements to take with semiglutide can include a multivitamin or a single-nutrient supplement to help you get enough nutrients, especially if you have a low appetite. Protein powder or shakes can help you get enough protein, and a fiber or ginger supplement can help combat the side effects of constipation or nausea that can be common with these medications. An electrolyte drink can also help you stay hydrated.

What to Expect: When taking supplements with semaglutide, you can expect improved digestion, more nutrients, and relief from unwanted side effects. The length it takes to help with these can vary and may take a few days to weeks. Ask a healthcare professional for further guidance if you don’t see a supplement’s intended benefit.

Seek a Professional If: Speak with a healthcare professional before taking any supplement while on semiglutide medication. They can help you pick the best supplements and dosages for your needs.

Editor’s Note

Our team of registered dietitians reviews and evaluates every single supplement we recommend according to our dietary supplement methodology. From there, a registered dietitian on our Medical Expert Board reviews each article for scientific accuracy. Always speak with a healthcare professional before adding a supplement to your routine to ensure that the supplement is appropriate for your individual needs and which dosage to take.

Thorne

Key Specs

Form: capsule | Serving size: 2 capsules per day  | Noteworthy Ingredients: Most vitamins and minerals| Third-Party Tested: Yes

Why We Recommend It

A semaglutide medication may cause changes in taste and appetite, making it hard to eat enough foods to provide your vitamin and mineral needs. If that’s the case, we recommend Thorne’s Basic Nutrients 2/Day as a multivitamin worth considering to cover any nutrient gaps in the diet.

Thorne’s multivitamin is comprehensive, with essential vitamins and minerals in appropriate dosages for many people. Key nutrients include vitamins A, C, D, E, K, and B vitamins in their active forms, meaning the body doesn’t need to alter them before using them. It also includes minerals like calcium, iodine, magnesium, and zinc. We love that it includes over 100% of the Daily Value of vitamin D, a nutrient hard to get enough of through food alone.

Thorne is a trusted brand committed to safety and quality. Their Basic Nutrients 2/Day is NSF Certified for Sport, meaning it’s rigorously third-party tested to ensure it contains exactly what’s on the label without any unsafe contaminants or prohibited substances for athletes.

Keep In Mind

If you’re taking anticoagulant drugs like Coumadin, note that this supplement contains vitamin K and can interfere with the medication.

Cristina Flores, RD, CSOWM, LDN, recommends taking a bariatric-specific multivitamin if you have had weight loss surgery. If that’s the case, ask a healthcare professional which multivitamin they recommend.

Amazon ORGANIC INDIA Psyllium Herbal Powder

Amazon

Key Specs

Form: Powder | Serving size: Up to 1 tablespoon daily | Noteworthy Ingredients: Psyllium husk | Third-Party Tested: Yes

Why We Recommend It

Semaglutide medications slow down digestive motility, meaning you might go to the bathroom less often and feel constipated. If taking a semiglutide is causing you constipation, taking a fiber supplement like psyllium husk can help maintain bowel regularity. We recommend Organic India Whole Psyllium Husk Powder because it’s a naturally soluble fiber and third-party tested for ingredient accuracy and safe levels of heavy metals.

Psyllium husk is a soluble fiber that dissolves in water in your digestive tract, forming a gel-like substance. This gel adds bulk and softness to your stool, helping move things along and making bowel movements easier and more regular. Psyllium husk also offers other health benefits, like regulating blood sugar levels by slowing down sugar absorption and lowering blood cholesterol.

The serving suggestion is one tablespoon daily, but to get started, we recommend mixing one to three teaspoons of psyllium husk with 12 ounces of water or a protein shake.

Keep In Mind

You can gradually increase to two tablespoons a day if needed, but remember, too much fiber can backfire and cause constipation. You might experience mild side effects like bloating and gas when starting, but they should go away.

Staying hydrated helps the psyllium husk expand and do its job effectively.

Klean Athlete Klean Isolate

Amazon

Pros

  • Taste is subtle

  • Mixes easily

  • Convenient

Key Specs

Form: Powder | Serving size: 1 scoop (22.3 grams) | Noteworthy Ingredients: Whey protein isolate | Third-Party Tested: Yes

Why We Recommend It

Getting enough protein can be challenging, especially when your appetite is low while taking semiglutide medication. If this sounds familiar, we recommend Klean Athlete’s Klean Isolate, a convenient source of protein that can help you reach your daily goals. This protein powder is a top pick as it is third-party tested (NSF Certified for Sport), easily digestible, and has a great taste and texture.

It is common to lose some muscle mass during your weight loss journey. Aim for at least 0.8-1.2 grams of protein per kilogram (kg) of body weight each day to avoid excess muscle loss, especially with a low appetite. In some cases, you may need closer to 1.5 grams per kg of body weight if you are engaging in regular exercise and looking to gain muscle mass. Each scoop of Klean Athlete’s Klean Isolate provides 20 grams of protein, which can help you reach your protein needs. Plus, whey protein isolate is excellent for muscle building and repair, especially when combined with strength training—something you’ll want to consider adding to your routine if you haven’t already.

We love that Klean Athlete’s protein powder has no added sweeteners or flavoring agents. It has a subtle vanilla taste that’s not overwhelming and can be mixed with various ingredients like fruits and greens for a tasty snack or meal. The texture is smooth and mixes easily with water, making it a convenient option even in a rush.

Keep In Mind

If you’re lactose intolerant or vegan, you’ll want to skip this and try a plant-based protein powder instead. Our top pick is KOS Organic Superfood Protein. It mixes smoothly and doesn’t have the grassy taste many vegan protein powders have. Plus, it’s packed with vitamins and minerals, making it a great all-in-one option to skip the multivitamin.

Amazon Fairlife Core Power High Protein Milk Shake, Vanilla

Amazon

Key Specs

Form: Liquid shake | Serving size: One bottle (414 mL) | Noteworthy Ingredients: Filtered low fat Grade A milk, monk fruit, stevia, sucralose, vitamin D, and lactase enzyme | Third-Party Tested: N/A

Why We Recommend It

As your dose of semaglutide medication increases, you might experience low appetite days as your body adjusts. This is especially common on the day of the injection and a few days after. During these times, a convenient protein shake like Fairlife’s Core Power High Protein Milk Shake can be a tasty and easy way to get the nutrients you need. This shake can be apired with a piece of fruit for a good option if you’re on the go.

Fairlife’s shake packs 26 grams of protein with just six grams of carbohydrates, making it a light yet helpful way to support weight loss. It is also lactose-free, provides 50% of your daily calcium needs, and is fortified with Vitamin D to help with calcium absorption, supporting bone health.

You can get creative with a protein shake: mix it with your morning coffee or use it as a milk substitute with cereal and berries. For an even higher protein boost on those low appetite days, Fairlife offers an elite version with 42 grams of protein.

Keep In Mind

We like that this shake has 0 grams of added sugar. However, it does contain sucralose, acesulfame potassium, stevia, and monk fruit, which some people avoid due to taste preferences or tolerance. Artificial sweeteners can cause digestive upset like bloating in some people.

Additionally, Fairlife’s shake includes carrageenan, a thickening agent. While studies have generally found carrageenan safe, it can sometimes cause gastrointestinal irritation in sensitive individuals.

Sports Research Collagen Powder Supplement

Amazon

Pros

  • Informed Choice Certified

  • NSF Certified gluten-free

  • Works well in both hot and cold liquids

  • Hydrolyzed bovine collagen

Key Specs

Form: Powder | Serving size: One scoop (11 grams) | Noteworthy Ingredients: Collagen peptides from bovine | Third-Party Tested: Yes

Why We Recommend It

Weight loss, especially when it’s quick, can leave you with some loose skin as your body adjusts. Plus, the stress placed on your body from losing weight can sometimes lead to hair loss for some. A collagen supplement can help keep your skin firm and elastic. Collagen also supports keratin production—the main protein in hair—potentially reducing hair loss during your weight loss journey.

Though the research on collagen’s benefits is still growing, it’s a popular addition for many people. Our favorite collagen to take with semiglutide is Sports Research Collagen Powder, which provides 11 grams of collagen per scoop. Plus, it’s Informed Choice Certified, meaning it’s been third-party tested to contain only what is listed on the label.

We like the unflavored option and find it dissolves best in hot liquids. You can easily incorporate this supplement into your day—toss it into your morning coffee or other beverage for an extra protein kick.

Keep In Mind

The unflavored option has a somewhat milky taste, so you may want to mix it into a flavored drink. Remember that collagen isn’t a complete protein, so you should incorporate a diverse range of other protein sources to ensure adequate intake of all essential amino acids.

Hydrant Hydrate Hydration Drink Mix

Amazon

Pros

  • Suitable amount of electrolytes for most people

  • No artificial flavors or sweeteners

  • Dissolves quickly and fully

Key Specs

Form: Powder | Serving size: One packet (7.5 grams)  | Noteworthy Ingredients: Sodium, magnesium, potassium and zinc | Third-Party Tested: No

Why We Recommend It

Hydration might not be the first thing that comes to mind when taking a semaglutide medication. Still, drinking enough water can help promote digestion, optimize exercise performance, and be a substitute for high-calorie drinks. We love Hydrant’s Electrolyte Powder to enhance the flavor of plain water and provide electrolytes.

Incorporating electrolytes into your weight loss journey on a semaglutide can help prevent dehydration from sweaty workout sessions and help stabilize energy levels. Each packet of this supplement includes a moderate dose of electrolytes, including sodium (260 mg), potassium (200 mg), and magnesium (30 mg), enough to provide the benefits for most people.

We appreciate that this is flavored with fruit juice powder and contains no artificial sweeteners. The blood orange flavor has just enough sweetness to get you to drink more water without feeling overwhelmed. Plus, it dissolves quickly and completely, so you don’t need kitchen gadgets to mix it when using these single-serve packets on the go.

Keep In Mind

Each of these packets has four grams of added sugar, and the recommendation is to keep added sugar intake below 10% of your total daily calories for most adults. We recommend sticking to one packet daily and two for those who sweat more.

If you’d rather have a sweeter-tasting electrolyte drink, we recommend checking out Ultima Replenisher.

Nature’s Way Ginger Root

Amazon

Pros

  • Safe for most people

  • Trusted natural remedy

  • Easy to take

Key Specs

Form: Capsule | Serving size: Two capsules | Noteworthy Ingredients: Ginger root | Third-Party Tested: Yes

Why We Recommend It

If you’re on a semaglutide journey, you might encounter occasional nausea. While not everyone will experience it, nausea can pop up as your body adjusts to new doses of medication. When this happens, Nature’s Way Ginger Root can help. Ginger has been used for many health benefits, including dealing with pregnancy nausea, chemotherapy, or even the queasiness that comes with motion sickness. Elizabeth Sharp, MD, IFMCP says it’s a natural and safe supplement for most people to treat nausea, aid digestion, provide anti-inflammatory benefits, and boost immunity.

Each serving of just two capsules has 1,100 mg of ginger root. You can take it as soon as you feel that queasy feeling sneaking up on you. Since nausea and indigestions with semaglutide often show up after indulging in a high-fat meal—think fried foods or maybe a bit too much peanut butter—you might want to take the ginger supplement with that meal to nip any potential indigestion in the bud.

Plus, Nature’s Way is a brand you can trust. They’re committed to quality, ensuring their products are top-notch through careful sourcing, manufacturing, and rigorous third-party testing.

Keep In Mind

Ginger can interact with some medications, including those for blood pressure, blood thinners, and diabetes. Because ginger may lower blood sugar levels—and you’re already taking a semaglutide medication that does the same—it’s best to avoid taking ginger on an empty stomach. Plus, skipping meals will make nausea worse.

NatureWise Vitamin D3

Amazon

Pros

  • Standard recommendation dosage

  • Strong third-party testing

  • Free of most common allergens

Why We Recommend It

Research shows that people with obesity often have lower levels of vitamin D. In fact, Dr. Sharp suggests vitamin D deficiency can be common with chronic obesity.

Vitamin D plays an important role in bone health; without enough vitamin D, your body can’t absorb the calcium needed to strengthen bones properly. Vitamin D is also needed to help with fat metabolism, has anti-inflammatory effects, and influences insulin sensitivity—all key factors during weight loss.

We recommend NatureWise Vitamin D3 in 2,000 IU for a vitamin D supplement. It’s a trusted brand backed by strong third-party testing and comes in one easy-to-swallow soft gel. Taking it can help ensure you are getting enough vitamin D, especially if you don’t eat many vitamin D-rich foods.

Keep In Mind

A blood test to check your vitamin D levels is the best way to determine what amount of vitamin D will be best for you. While 2,000 IUs is a good dose for many, it isn’t perfect for everyone.

Amazon Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega Softgels, 1280 mg

Amazon

Pros

  • Sustainably caught fish

  • Moderate dosage

  • Heart health benefits

Key Specs

Form: Softgels | Serving size: Two Softgels | Noteworthy Ingredients: Purified deep sea fish oil, | Third-Party Tested: Yes

Why We Recommend It

When taking semaglutide, higher-fat foods, including heart-healthy fatty fish, can sometimes cause digestive upset, making you prone to not eating these foods. The omega-3s in fatty fish help reduce inflammation, which is helpful if you have chronic low-grade inflammation. Omega-3s can help reduce post-workout soreness, which can be helpful if you are exercising. On top of that, they’re heart-healthy, helping to lower blood triglycerides and cholesterol.

If you aren’t getting enough omega-3 foods while on a semiglutide and want a fish oil supplement, we recommend Nordic Naturals Omega-3. It has 1280 mg of omega-3s sourced from deep-sea, sustainably caught fish. Plus, it’s third-party tested, so you know you’re getting a supplement free of contaminants and an accurate ingredient label.

Keep In Mind

The American Heart Association recommends a higher dose of omega-3s if you want to lower elevated triglycerides. In this case, you can consider Nordic Naturals Ultimate 2X, which contains 2,150 mg of omega-3s and 1000 IUs of vitamin D3.

Omega-3s can interfere with various medications like blood thinners and blood pressure medication, so consult a healthcare professional before starting one.

Nature Made Sublingual B-12 1000 mcg

Amazon

Pros

  • Bypasses the gut

  • Moderate dose

  • Cherry flavor

Key Specs

Form: Lozenge | Serving size: One lozenge | Noteworthy Ingredients: Vitamin B12 | Third-Party Tested: Yes

Why We Recommend It

If your doctor has you on Metformin along with semaglutide, know that long-term use of Metformin (think several years) can sometimes lead to B12 deficiency. So, if you’ve been on it for a while, it might be worth measuring your B12 levels and taking a B12 supplement.

B12 has a role in energy production by helping convert food into glucose and supporting red blood cell production, which keeps oxygen flowing throughout your body.

We recommend trying Nature Made’s Sublingual Vitamin B12 because it’s USP-verified and can be especially helpful for those who have had bariatric surgery. Remember that you may not be absorbing certain vitamins as you did before the surgery, and a sublingual B12 is absorbed under your tongue, bypassing the gut. For those who haven’t had surgery, you might just like that this is one less pill to swallow and may even enjoy the taste.

This supplement packs 1,000 micrograms of B12, but if you need a bigger boost, you can opt for the 2,000 or even 3,000 microgram dose.

Keep In Mind

Note that these have a cherry flavor from artificial ingredients that not everyone will like.

More To Consider

These supplements may also come recommended by a healthcare professional and could be helpful while on semiglutide medications.

Probiotics: Probiotics may offer some gut health benefits, but there’s no specific research on which ones work best with semaglutide. They’re not likely to be harmful, though, so if you already take one, it’s probably safe to still take it with this medication.

Green Tea Extract: Green tea extract can be tied to weight loss claims thanks to caffeine and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). However, since semaglutide already helps with weight loss, adding green tea extract probably won’t offer much extra benefit. Green tea extract does provide antioxidants, which can help reduce inflammation. You can just drink more green tea for this benefit.

Berberine: Berberine is getting a lot of buzz and is sometimes dubbed “nature’s Ozempic.” While it might help with blood sugar levels and has some anti-inflammatory benefits, it’s not the same as semaglutide. A healthcare professional can advise if a berberine supplement is best for you to take with semiglutide.

Benefits of Taking Supplements With Semaglutide

Choosing the right supplements while on semaglutide depends on your diet and any side effects you might be experiencing. Supplements like omega-3s can help tackle issues like high cholesterol, triglycerides, and inflammation. Ginger or fiber can help alleviate digestive symptoms while on semiglutide.

If you’ve had bariatric surgery in the past, have been on Metformin for a while, or are struggling with low appetite, vitamin B12 and a good multivitamin are more important. Other supplements may be used more sporadically, like a protein supplement when your appetite is low.

As always, speak with your healthcare provider before adding new supplements.

Natural Gas Price Forecast: Correction Targets Key Fibonacci Levels Amid Further Weakness

By |2024-11-01T03:38:59+02:00November 1, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

Next Lower Target is 2.65, Followed by 2.58

The next lower target is the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement at 2.65. A decline below today’s low will signal a likely move to that price level. Nonetheless, a lower and what looks like a potentially more significant target zone is from 2.58 to 2.55. That range consists of a previous interim swing high and the 20-Day MA, respectively. Also, within that range is the 50% retracement level at 2.57. If that price zone is broken to the downside, then watch for support around the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement at 2.48, along with the 50-Day MA at 2.45.

Successful Test of 200-Day MA is Bullish

Recently, natural gas successfully tested the 200-Day MA as support. The 200-Day line was recaptured on September 11. Other than a quick test of support a week after the initial breakout, there has been no subsequent test of the 200-Day line as support. It can be considered as a maximum support level before the potential of natural gas in the foreseeable future starts to change. Staying above the 200-Day line during weakness would indicate strength overall given its long-term nature.

Higher Swing Lows Point to Underlying Strength

Moreover, notice how bullish momentum has been improving overall in recent months as represented by the higher swing lows and accompanying trendlines. If the higher internal trendline that connects the recent swing low fails as support, the potential for an eventual bullish breakout of the triangle diminishes or it may take longer to occur. The top triangle trendline is significant as it connects five swing highs. This means it may continue to offer strong resistance, or a bull breakout triggers with momentum spiking – a possibility.

XRP price prediction: A drop below $0.5 seems likely and here’s why

By |2024-11-01T01:43:37+02:00November 1, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

  • The plunge below $0.5 on the 25th of October underlined bearish intent.
  • The liquidity pocket at $0.54 could result in a minor price bounce.

The strong on-chain activity behind Ripple [XRP] highlighted increased interest from investors, but the price action showed a bearish outlook on the daily timeframe. In the past week, Bitcoin [BTC] has gained 8.3% but XRP has shed 1.62%.

The XRP price prediction for November leaned bearishly. However, a short-term bounce of around 3% is possible. Beyond that, a recovery

XRP price prediction- Why the bears have the upper hand

XRP price prediction: A drop below alt=

Source: XRP/USDT on TradingView

Since August 2023, XRP has been confined to a range formation that stretched from $0.72 to $0.46. In July 2024, the price appeared to fall below the range lows, but was quick to recover, bouncing as high as $0.638.

The past four months saw the $0.64 zone develop into a stern resistance zone. The $0.5865 mid-range level was flipped to support and a breakout was attempted in the second half of September, but was unsuccessful.

At the same time, the $0.52 level has been a reliable support level, but on Friday the 25th of October, bears forced XRP to drop to $0.486.

This reinforced the bearish structure on the lower timeframes, and the daily session close below $0.52 meant sellers had the upper hand. This finding was supported by the Money Flow Index, which slipped below 50. The CMF has been unable to scale past +0.05, showing that strong capital inflows were not present in October.

Short-term volatility expected

The one-month look back liquidation heatmap highlighted the $0.54 and $0.57 as sizeable magnetic zones close to the price. The latter is stronger, but given the price action of the past week, a move to $0.57 appeared unlikely.

Read Ripple’s [XRP] Price Prediction 2024-25

A bounce to$0.54 to collect liquidity before a plunge below $0.5 is anticipated for XRP in November. To the south, the range lows at $0.46 and the August low at $0.432 would be the bearish targets, especially if Bitcoin saw a sizeable pullback from near the all-time high of $73.7k.

A move beyond both $0.54 and $0.57 could set XRP up for a retest of the local highs around $0.62, but appeared unlikely given the lack of demand in recent weeks.

Crude Oil Price Forecast: Gains Momentum, Eyes Key Resistance Levels Above 71.83

By |2024-11-01T01:37:19+02:00November 1, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

Resistance Zone From 71.83 to 73.21

Next up, there is a potentially significant resistance zone a little higher, starting from 71.83 and rising to 73.21. The higher level is the 50% retracement, which should be watched in concert with the most recent interim swing high at 73.15. The price range starts with the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level. Also, included with the range is potential resistance around the 50-Day MA at 71.96, and the 20-Day MA at 72.27.

Nonetheless, the 73.15 swing high is the key pivot as a breakout above starts to reverse the price structure of the short-term downtrend. A bull breakout above 73.15 would provide a renewed sign of strength once there is a daily close above it. Further, the moving average trend indicators would have been exceeded by then.

Consolidation Pattern May Be Evolving

The large symmetrical triangle pattern in crude oil has been discussed before. A bearish breakdown triggered at the beginning of September, and it was followed by a bullish reversal that rose back into the pattern. Subsequently, another breakdown from the pattern triggered. Given that crude continues to chop around it is possible that the consolidation pattern has evolved into a larger triangle.

That may account for the lack of follow-through. Nevertheless, it is not clear yet. The initial lower boundary line of the triangle, that is now around the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level at 74.60, may continue to provide insights if it is approached again. The question is, will it lead to a bearish reversal or a bullish breakout?

9 Dangerous Supplement Combinations You Should Avoid

By |2024-11-01T00:12:28+02:00November 1, 2024|Dietary Supplements News, News|0 Comments

With age and new (or more) chronic health conditions, it’s common for people to need prescription medications. Many people also use over-the-counter products and supplements to meet their health needs.

Experts say that taking certain medicines and supplements at the same time could have dangerous, even life-threatening, consequences. Moreover, many people combine supplements and prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medications without knowing the potential interactions.

Some medication combos may lead to diminished drug effectiveness, increased risk of drug toxicity, and unexpected side effects.

1. Vitamin B6 and Levodopa

Taking vitamin B6 with levodopa, a medication for Parkinson’s disease, can reduce the medication’s effectiveness. However, some levodopa medications also contain carbidopa, which can counteract the interaction.

People using levodopa or levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) can develop a vitamin B6 deficiency. This can cause anemia, depression, neuropathy, and other issues. A healthcare provider may monitor you and advise you on B6 supplementation. It’s OK to take vitamin B6 if you’re on LCIG under your healthcare provider’s advisement.

2. Vitamin K and Blood-Thinning Medications

Vitamin K can counteract the effects of blood-thinning medications like warfarin, possibly making them less effective.

If you’re on blood-thinning medications, talk with your provider before taking vitamin K supplements or increasing your dietary intake of vitamin K.

3. Iron or Calcium and Thyroid Hormone Replacement Medications

Certain supplements like iron and calcium can interfere with the absorption of thyroid hormone replacement medications like levothyroxine.

Taking these supplements and thyroid hormone replacement medications at least four hours apart is best.

4. Vitamin C and Antacids That Contain Aluminum

Vitamin C increases the absorption of aluminum from antacids, medicines like Tums, that neutralize stomach acid and help relieve heartburn or indigestion.

However, taking vitamin C and antacids together can lead to toxic levels of aluminum in the body. Therefore, they should be taken at least two hours apart.

5. Vitamin E and Blood-Thinning Medications

Vitamin E can increase the risk of bleeding when it’s taken with blood-thinning medications like warfarin.

If you are taking a blood thinner, ask your provider before taking vitamin E.

6. St. John’s Wort and Various Medications

St. John’s Wort supplements can interact with many medications, including antidepressants, birth control pills, and blood thinners.

St. John’s Wort can reduce the effectiveness of these medications, and mixing them can cause harmful effects.

7. Goldenseal and Blood Clotting Medications

Goldenseal supplements can interact with some medications, including clotting medicines. The interaction may reduce the body’s ability to clot, leading to bleeding or bruising.

Given the seriousness of the interaction, it’s often recommended to avoid using goldenseal and blood clotting medications together.

8. Ginkgo Biloba and Blood-Thinning Medication

Ginkgo biloba supplements can also increase the risk of bleeding when taken with blood-thinning medications like warfarin or aspirin.

9. Licorice Root and Diuretics or Blood Pressure Medications

Supplements containing licorice root can interact with diuretics and blood pressure medications, making their side effects worse or even causing serious problems, such as potassium imbalances or blood pressure fluctuations.

If you’re taking a prescription medication and thinking about trying a supplement, talk to your provider or pharmacist.

What to Do If You Take These Combinations

If you are prescribed medications and plan on using supplements, timing is everything. For example, Marilyn Tan, MD, double board certified in endocrinology and internal medicine and a clinical associate professor of medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, said that thyroid hormone medications should be taken on an empty stomach and separated from supplements by at least four hours—especially if they contain calcium and iron.

“Other endocrine medications like the osteoporosis medication Fosamax and the diabetes medication Rybelsus need to be taken on an empty stomach and separated from other medications by at least 30 minutes,” Tan added.

Danielle Crumble Smith, RDN, a certified registered dietitian at Top Nutrition Coaching, recommends discussing timing your doses with your provider to avoid potential interactions. As a general rule, space out when taking supplements and your medications by at least two hours.

When to Check With Your Healthcare Provider

Your healthcare provider can guide you on what combinations to avoid and how to use supplements with medications safely.

In general, it’s never a bad idea to let your provider know if you’re thinking about trying something new since you may not know about the possible risks involved.

“Supplements seem harmless, but it is important to consult a healthcare professional if you are considering starting a new supplement,” Crumble Smith said. “This is particularly true if you are currently taking medications.”

How to Check for Interactions Yourself

When picking up your medications, you can also ask your pharmacist about drug-supplement combinations. Pharmacists are trained to know about drug interactions, including those that can happen with dietary supplements. They also have access to comprehensive databases and tools that let them check for potential interactions.

A pharmacist can advise you on how to use supplements safely, check for interactions, make suggestions about the timing of your doses, or offer alternatives. In some cases, a pharmacist might be able to suggest dose adjustments that could help you avoid an interaction.

Crumble Smith said it’s essential to give a pharmacist a complete list of everything you’re taking, from prescription meds to OTC products and supplements, as this information will help them make the most accurate assessment.

There are also several databases and online tools from reputable resources that you can use to check for potential drug and supplement interactions on your own, including:

Crumble Smith said that while these resources can provide helpful information, they are not a substitute for professional medical advice.

“Always consult with a healthcare provider or pharmacist before starting, stopping, or modifying your medication or supplement regimen,” she said.

What This Means For You

If you’re taking prescription medications, know that using a supplement along with it may not be as harmless as you might think. Some medications and supplements can have serious, even life-threatening, interactions.

Always ask your healthcare provider before you start a supplement, especially if you’re taking any medications. If you have questions about your medications or how to use supplements safely, talk to your provider or pharmacist.

EUR/USD Analysis Today – 31/10: Pre-Event Recovery (Chart)

By |2024-10-31T23:43:46+02:00October 31, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

  • The euro rose slightly above $1.0860 after unexpectedly strong growth figures from the eurozone, prompting investors to reduce their expectations for a rate cut by the European Central Bank.
  • According to the economic calendar results, the eurozone economy expanded by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter in the third quarter, double the second-quarter growth and beating market expectations of 0.2%.
  • Germany surprised by avoiding recession and achieving a growth rate of 0.2%, while France and Spain also reported stronger-than-expected growth.

However, Italy’s economy stalled. This week, inflation figures were also in focus, with eurozone inflation expected to rise slightly to 1.9%. Traders still expect the European Central Bank to cut its main deposit rate by 25 basis points in December, which would be the fourth cut after cuts in October, September and June. However, the likelihood of a more significant 50 basis point cut has decreased to around 25% in light of the GDP reports.

On another note, according to the results of the economic diary, the eurozone industrial sector sentiment has fallen to its lowest level in more than two years. According to the announcement, the eurozone industrial confidence index deteriorated to -13 in October 2024 from a revised -11 in the previous month, which is below market expectations of -10.5, indicating the highest level of pessimism in the industry since the direct repercussions of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in July 2022.

Sentiments deteriorated for production expectations (0.2 versus 1.9 in September) and order books (-28.2 versus -25.6), which is in line with the decline in orders from foreign markets (-30.4 versus -26.9). In addition, pessimism rose for employment expectations (-5.6 versus -4.7), and selling price expectations rose to a three-month high (6.5 versus 6.3).

Meanwhile, economic sentiment in the eurozone fell to its lowest level in 8 months. The Eurozone Economic Sentiment Index (ESI) fell to 95.6 in October 2024 from an upwardly revised 96.3 the previous month, the lowest level since February and missing market expectations that it would remain at 96.3. The decline was largely due to increased pessimism in industry (-13 vs. -11 in September), the highest level in more than two years, amid declines in both output and order book levels. Meanwhile, the survey pointed to a rebound in consumer inflation expectations (13.3 vs. 11), rising to their highest level since February, potentially jeopardizing the progress in reducing inflation from the ECB’s tightening cycle. On the other hand, the positive trends were captured by stronger-than-expected results for the services sector (7.1 vs. 7.1).

On the US side, the US Bureau of Economic Analysis reported a 2.8% increase in real GDP for the third quarter of 2024, a slight decline from the 3.0% growth seen in the previous quarter and below market expectations. GDP growth was largely driven by higher consumer spending, exports, and federal government spending. However, higher imports also had an impact on the overall GDP calculation. Consumer spending increased on both products and services, particularly non-durable goods such as prescription drugs, automobiles, health care services, and food.

Exports also expanded, especially in capital goods, while federal spending increased significantly in defence-related areas. Clearly, the slowdown in GDP growth during the third quarter can be attributed to lower private inventory investment and residential fixed investment. However, this was offset by gains in exports, consumer spending, and government spending, despite higher imports. GDP in current dollars also rose by 4.7% to $29.35 trillion in the third quarter.

EUR/USD Technical analysis and forecast:

Despite attempts to rebound higher, they are still weak, and the general trend for the EUR/USD price will remain bearish as long as it stabilizes around and below the psychological support level of 1.0800. technically, the trend will remain bearish until the markets react to important announcements today.

Eurozone inflation figures will be announced, followed by the US inflation reading preferred by the US Federal Reserve. On the other hand, according to the performance on the daily chart, there will be no breach of the downtrend without stability above the psychological level of 1.1000.

XAU/USD retreated sharply, trades around $2,740

By |2024-10-31T23:35:59+02:00October 31, 2024|Forex News, News|0 Comments

XAU/USD Current price: $2,739.91

  • US Dollar demand resurged following another batch of encouraging American data.
  • The US will release the October Nonfarm Payrolls report on Friday.
  • XAU/USD shed roughly $50.00, and near-term readings suggest the slide could continue.

Spot Gold came under strong selling pressure after Wall Street’s opening, with XAU/USD retreating sharply from record highs and currently trading near a daily low of $2,731.45. A risk-averse mood took over financial markets on Wednesday when United States (US) data showed resilient economic growth and a healthy labour market, cooling interest rate cut expectations.

The Federal Reserve (Fed) will meet next week and announce its decision on monetary policy on Thursday, November 7. Odds for a 25 basis points (bps) interest rate cut are at 94.5%, slightly down from the 95.5% chance a week earlier. Still, market players ponder whether a Republican victory in the upcoming presidential election may force the Fed to slow the pace of loosening.

Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan (BoJ) decided to keep the interest rate target unchanged at 0.25% on Thursday and reiterated its forecast that inflation will persist near the 2% target. The announcement weighed on the Japanese Yen (JPY), providing support to the US Dollar.

Finally, the US reported that Initial Jobless Claims for the week ended October 25 improved to 216K from a revised 228K in the previous week. The country also released the September Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index, the Federal Reserve’s (Fed) favorite inflation gauge. PCE inflation was up 2.1% YoY and 0.2% MoM, as expected, while the core annual reading hit 2.7%, higher than the 2.6% anticipated by market participants.

Asian and European indexes edged sharply lower, leading to a second consecutive day of sharp losses in Wall Street.

The focus now shifts to the US Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) report, which will be released on Friday. The economy is expected to have added 113K new job positions in October, while the unemployment rate is foreseen steady at 4.1%.

XAU/USD short-term technical outlook

The XAU/USD pair trimmed most of its weekly gains, and the daily chart shows the corrective decline may continue, albeit the pair is far from bearish. In the daily chart, technical indicators retreated sharply from overbought readings and head firmly south above their midlines. At the same time, the pair remains above all its moving averages, which maintain their bullish slopes. The 20 Simple Moving Average (SMA) currently develops at around $2,696.00, providing dynamic support.

In the near term, and according to the 4-hour chart, the risk skews to the downside. XAU/USD broke below its 20 SMA, which lost its bullish strength at around $2,766.00. Nevertheless, the 100 and 200 SMAs keep heading firmly higher, well below the current level. Finally, technical indicators crossed their midlines into negative territory, maintaining their sharp downward slopes, in line with another leg lower.

Analyst Explains Why Selling DOGE Early is a Big Mistake

By |2024-10-31T22:41:27+03:00October 31, 2024|Crypto News, News|0 Comments

Dogecoin (DOGE) price, a meme-based cryptocurrency, surged over 17% in October as investors anticipated a stronger market close. DOGE showed signs of consolidation amid the broader crypto market’s efforts to regain momentum. Heading into November 2024, analysts suggest Dogecoin could be on the cusp of another potential breakout, with several experts cautioning against selling too early. This position is driven by renewed interest in the meme coin’s upward trajectory, with many analysts projecting additional gains for DOGE in the coming weeks.

Crypto Analyst Warns on Dogecoin Sales

Despite current low entry points, crypto analyst Bluntz cautions investors against prematurely selling Dogecoin. He notes the extensive 874-day accumulation phase that Dogecoin has undergone, which he believes could deter investors from holding onto their positions.

Highlighting a historical chart, he suggests that many still need to remember the volatility associated with Dogecoin and might sell too soon before any significant upward movement.

Analyst Targets November DOGE Price Bull Rally

The crypto expert shared an X post highlighting a potential bullish run for Dogecoin this November. According to the analyst, if Dogecoin price prediction can secure a sustained close above $0.20, it could trigger a parabolic price surge. Historical trends in the shared chart support this claim, as similar breakout setups have led to significant rallies.

Currently, the price of DOGE is around $0.061. Investors and enthusiasts are closely observing Dogecoin’s action. Past performances reveal that Dogecoin experienced exponential gains after breaking through downtrend lines, suggesting a possible repeat if resistance levels are breached.

Investors are urged to recognize the upper echelons of the meme coin hierarchy to achieve significant gains during the upcoming meme coin cycle. This level, which includes categories like movements, missions, and cult coins, holds the highest potential for wealth generation.

The chart highlights the importance of focusing on a few coins, with fewer than 25 in the top tiers. As market experts suggest, understanding and identifying these categories could differentiate the successful from the uninformed in the volatile world of meme coins.

Meanwhile, popular analysts are drawing attention to the Dogecoin price, declaring it a prominent pick for the current cycle. According to his analysis, DOGE has repeatedly demonstrated its resilience and potential, making it an “obvious” choice for this market phase.

Despite his assertion analyst anticipates skepticism, suggesting that many might overlook Dogecoin’s potential to reach new highs in the near future.

Dogecoin’s current price trajectory and historical patterns hint at a promising rally, making early selling potentially costly. Experts advise patience, suggesting holding DOGE could yield substantial gains amid the meme coin cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Due to a prolonged accumulation phase and increased interest, experts believe early selling could miss out on gains.

This extended phase signals potential for a breakout, with higher price potential in the near future.

Analysts highlight $0.20 as a crucial resistance level; surpassing it may trigger substantial gains.
